Dollstown 17 and 18 year boys and girls - Part 2

I think I'm set on getting Yujin on the 18 girl body, 100%. I know a bit already about the body and I've come to terms with the expectations that the posing will be limited compared to my other dolls, due to the size, but the feedback I've seen is also quite old, even accounting for the update to the knee joint that happened in 2016 (?).
Many videos that display the body's posing show a doll that's very loosely strung, so I am not sure how fair of an assessment that is.
I am still getting this doll no matter what, so I don't need any convincing (or dissuasion), but I wonder if I'm setting expectations right? Can someone give me a rundown on a more recent 18 girl body that got through a good restringing and maybe hotglue sueding (but not wiring)? From what I understand the issues have always been with the legs, and the arms seem to pose quite well.

 

I have the 18 year old girl body, @lutke, and love it.
I did dremel the chest down just a tad, personal preference to have small-chested girls, but that was easy to do. She needs some good, sturdy shoes to help her stand solidly. It was a challenge to find her fitting shoes, her feet are quite big. But I found some I love and they help her stability. Mostly, what was required was to wire her legs with 10-gauge, solid copper wire, plastic covered. Anything higher gauge than ten will be too thin and not supportive enough. It was a five minute job to wire her, super easy.
I wired her with one long piece from one ankle all the way up her leg, through her hip joint down the other leg and into the other ankle. That is what in my doll's case, makes her stand up and be able to carry that hefty torso.

She is huge, and heavy. I love her. The body is gorgeous. All the DT bodies are gorgeous, IMO.

I have had her since 2015 I think? I'd have to look that up. Maybe 2016... I have restrung her once, 2 years ago. That was for sure a two-person job. She's so enormous.

I think you will be happy with your choice! Hope so anyway. And I found the wire on line easy peasy and not too expensive.

Does Dollstown have seasonal (or other) events on their general catalog? So far I have seen promotional discounts for individual bodies/heads. I am going to aim for December so it would be good to know if events happen before (or after). Was there a 20th anniversary even recently?

 

I haven't seen him do many seasonal promotions. Am thinking perhaps the 20th anni was a new head sculpt? But I am sure others may know!

@lutke I don't think they do seasonal offers, but you can ask them maybe?

 

I’m hoping they will do another anniversary event (I looked at an old post and it seems like it would be sometime in April if they do it). I asked DT if they were going to have a discount event as I don’t think I can swing another doll this year (wanted to get the 16yr girl body), they said they didn’t know if they’ll have another

 

Love my 16 years Hyun. I found her eyes but she needs a slightly darker wig. This one is too soft on her and she is not a gentle and nice girl

@krystina That's consistent with the answer I received when I asked the same thing this month. Then I doubt there will be an event until April next year, when it usually happens.
I was hoping to place the order a month earlier for my Yujin, but it's no big deal. I just really can't wait to have this doll
I'm thinking about a Rian or Soi on the 17 body afterwards.

 

IF there is an event When looking back at old posts I only saw they had that 16th Anni sometime April 2020 but haven’t seen any Anni sales after. I hope they do a 21st - it’s such a milestone post lots of pics if your Yujin- did you get him on the new male body?

 

@krystina I'm going to have her as a girl on the 18 body! I'll probably get a second doll if there's an event around that time of the year.

I have since then found the ten gauge wire which works a lot better than the twelve gauge!!

I'm certain this has been addressed more than once, but can anyone point me to or guide me on how to handle these 18 boy knees I wired and sueded him and I think it made it worse. I'm not new to it and suede and wire all my dolls down to a science. Is there anything I can do? This is the only body my Nabarro Har fits on.
