1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    5. @citronrouge So delighted to see your two girls - I love how they're similar but also contrasts!

May I ask you about the 16year girl body? Besides the clear changes in the torso, has the knee and elbow engineering changed too? I'm wondering whether and how Jonghak has addressed the knee challenges that people are reporting in the large double-jointed dolls. Thank you!

    6. Tanjaladie, Aihre, thank you for your sweet words

Honestly i see no difference about knee and elbow on the 16 with the 17 years body :sweat

    7. Thanks citronrouge. Seems like the knees continue to be a weak point in the sculpting?

My two oldest dolls (← in my profile pic) are on the single-jointed 15yr girl and boy bodies - I bought them both in 2010-2011! I've been idly looking at the 16yr girl and upcoming 16yr boy, deciding if I want to update my pair to double-jointed bodies. But I'm not hugely enamoured by the torso sculpting, and it seems that Dollstown bodies will continue to need wiring and sueding for their knees/elbows to function well and support weight. (And the new DT resin will not match old DT resin anymore.) So I might give them a miss and look elsewhere, at this rate my pair is going to stay single-jointed forever. Not a big deal, honestly - wiring has made them quite decent posers. Probably best not to disturb them in their BJD middle age :whee:

Edit - more on-topic for the (kind of dead) 15year thread, but here's a pic of the pair - Crobidoll Lance on 15yr girl, Dollstown Mui on 15yr boy. They're with my small-headed 68cm guy.

    8. Unfortunately. I've always known DT with weak knees, however I've been buying dolls from them for 15 years, I've never needed to wiring and sueding them. They always posed very well. I have to admit i don't really understand people's complaints. What's about elbow ? I only tried 7, 13, 16 and 17 girl bodies. :sweat

The skin tones remain the same ones as Dollshe. No changes ;)

    9. @citronrouge Too bad you're so far away from me - I would have have you handle my DT18 boy body. You would have immediately understand why people complain. Do not understand me wrong, I love DT bodies! But yeah their knees tend to drive me nuts.

    10. I totally trust you. I never have the opportunity to handle a 18 years. I barely take pics of my dolls standing, i have to admit. Maybe this is why i have not too much difficulties with mine :sweat But what is the problem with the elbow ? I didn't read the whole topic but i never heard something about it.

    11. I think I misunderstood some things - there probably isn't any issue with the elbows. I was only mentioning knee/elbow together in the same sentence, because to my eye, the knee and elbow peanuts for the double joint are constructed the same way. But since arms are not weight-bearing like legs are, they probably won't have the same posing problems. Maybe their construction is an advantage instead?

I'm doing a lot of conjecturing because I don't own 17/18yr bodies, so I'm looking at Jonghak's photos to try and evaluate how the dolls are engineered, and what might be giving them weak knees. I pose my dolls in majority standing poses and I seldom use doll stands for support, so their ability to stand on their own feet (both bare feet and in shoes) is paramount. If the body can't manage to free-stand after sueding/wiring and in shoes, I will not have a good time so I'm very likely to sell it and buy a body that can stand. (I've already done this for a non-DT body that simply wouldn't stand after all my efforts.) So after reading about the Dollstown knees I've been rather reluctant to spend money on these bodies, even though they're so beautiful.

However, I am grateful that you shared your perspective. I'm glad that you're not having difficulties with your dolls! because sometimes all one hears is the problems, so I'm glad to hear the opposite. :3nodding:

      .
As for colour matching, I think Dollshe/Dollstown change their resin colours in 2017, so the current fresh and oriental skin don't match the older fresh and oriental skin. Earlier this year I bought some 17yr girl hands and feet for my 15yr girl (who was made around 2008-2010), both are fresh skin but they don't match. Current fresh is pinker, old fresh is yellower. I'll try to share photos later, but this is unfortunately another reason I don't want to get new bodies for my old 15yr dolls.

    12. Seconding this. Honestly the worst knees I've ever had on a doll. It's the way they're sculpted that makes them so unstable - just an impractical design, especially for the weight and height of the larger boys.
