Dolly Cross-Dressing

Sep 11, 2007

    1. i don't see why it should be an issue for people to dress their dolls as they choose. they belong to you, so you can dress them as you see fit for your own preference or how your doll seems to you.

    2. I like dolls that cross-dress, personally. I don't think it's wrong. It's no different from girls who like boy clothing.

It's your doll. Do what you want.

    3. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?

No. Cross dressing does not hurt anyone nor should it offend anyone.

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?

Go anywhere you want. Some of my girls wear suits and I think they look hot.

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?

Not at all. It is wrong to not post pictures of your dolls. We love to see your creativity!

    4. One of the main reasons I'm getting my male AoD Wang Zi is so I can //make// him crossdress!!

    5. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?

I dun think that there is anything wrong with crossdressing ur dolls(male)

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?

I dun crossdress my doll even if i have one male doll (currently only one female) Cos I believe that i am unable to cross dress him beautifully. Lolx

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?

I dun see anything wrong with it, it is doll pictures mah lolx. As long as the cross dress it done beautifully it is ok. haha >_<

I am just not happy when the owner cross-dress their doll 'ugly-ly' and keep pointing at my girl saying that her wig and eyes are not correctly positioned.

    6. Someone please tell me if any of this is confusing. It makes sense to me, but I know this kind of thing can sometimes be a sensitive topic, so let me know if I need to clear anything up.

a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?

I guess I don't really see why this is an issue of ethics or right and wrong. There are lots of reasons to cross-dress. Some of those reasons might be connected to things we might consider unethical, but I think for the most part these are two separate issues and the ethicality of a given situation is often open to interpretation anyway. So no, I don't think the cross-dressing itself is in any way wrong or unethical.

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?

I'm not really sure what you mean by going all the way in terms of cross-dressing. Of course, I think how far one goes depends on one's own preferences, the personality of the doll in question, and possibly also the reasons for having a cross-dressing doll to begin with. For example, two of my boys (Ryuuki and Masuyo) are onnagata -- male kabuki actors who specialize in performing female characters (two famous real-life examples of onnagata: Tamasaburo Bando and Saotome Taichi). Part of their job requires them to dress as women. When trying to dress my boys in their roles as onnagata, I think it's very important to go as far as I can to make them look as feminine as possible. Other people may go farther than that with their dolls. Still others might not go that far at all. Some dolls, like mine, may reserve their cross-dressing for specific situations and for others it might be their everyday mode of dress/state of being. Personally, I don't think there's a right or a wrong way to go about dressing your doll in the opposite gender's clothes. There are so many factors in deciding what makes sense for a given doll or for a given situation.

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?

Again, I don't see why there's anything inherently wrong with this. Some of the activities a doll might participate in while cross-dressing might be better left to a personal journal or someplace like Controversial Dol. But I think the important thing to remember is that it's not the cross-dressing itself that's usually objectionable in those kinds of situations.

    7. Reading the OP only, as I don't want to plow through multiple pages of replies ... The OP seems to assume cross-dressing only goes one way, i.e. men dressing as women.

Might it be shocking to "modern" and Westernized sensibilities that in some parts of the world, women in pants are still considered scandalous?

I'm female, but what if I want to wear a three-piece suit and tie from Barney's? There's no law stopping me from doing so, but objectively is that still not cross-dressing, since three-piece suits and ties are not normally considered female clothing?

For the record, I do have a cross-dressing doll, a bit unintentionally although I rather like it now. I had ordered a male MSD doll originally, but changed my mind halfway through my layaway payments to a female MSD. But I had already gotten quite a few boy clothes set aside. So, when the female MSD arrived, I just put her in the boy clothes rather than buy a new wardrobe.

    8. Wrong? No.

Extremely overdone? Yes. I'm really only referring to "skirtboi's" here, I think a crossdressing female doll would be pretty interesting, since you hardly ever see it. S0yuz, your doll is nifty. :D

    9. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?

Not at all. I'm a teenager. I wear men's clothing all the time. I have a few male friends that cross dress. We're "underage" I suppose, so if we can do it, dolls can too. x]

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?

For me, it depends on the character. I have a few cross dressing ladyboys. =] I usually leave it at dresses and skirts. The face-ups look rather girly anyways, for the most part.

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?

Of course not. I'd actually love to see more.

    10. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?

I don't necessarily think so for the simple reason that I see cross-dressing as a personal expression of sexual identity, which people are allowed to have before they're 21.

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?

How do you go "all the way" besides feminine clothes and faceups? Dollie gender changes? I'm probably not interpreting this correctly...At any rate, I think it depends a lot on the individual doll and owner as to how far is good. I have a good friend with a cross-dressing dollfie who happens to be my boy's gay lover, so you can imagine how I feel on this one :sweat

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?

The doll community is a hugely accepting one; I don't see many of us as being offended by cross-dressing as compared to a lot of societal norms. I definitely don't think it's wrong, it's part of the doll's identity in my mind.

    11. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?
No. My boy is 19..for NOW. I might make him 18. Any case, its all opinion. If you feel it shouldnt be pictured, free your words but let others speak if they so wish to picture it. Its their choice. Your choice. My choice.

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?
I look around much and Im making him dress like one and have hair and faceup like one...when you say "All the way." I question what you mean...like get breast plate..? D:

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
Heck no, watch me. Im going to respect rules of forum and post my little peanut all over the forum in all his crossdressyness.

    12. I've never thought twice about cross dressing dolls. I grew up in San Franciso around the homosexual and transgendered community so I suppose it's hard for me to understand the issues some have about a man in female clothing. Whatevercmakes people and people's dolls feel themselves is a good thing. I have a couple girly boys but I don't see them wanting to wear dresses. Though I will have a yakuza boy in lolita soon. XD Cute covers up malice after all.

    13. I think those that care if you cross-dress your doll are idiots. It's your doll, and besides, humans cross-dress, why can't dolls?

    14. BJDs can wear whatever they want. Sorry, whatever you want to dress them in. xP
There's nothing wrong with a boy in a dress, or anything of the like, whether you're human or BJD.
Think how limited we would be if we could only wear things that were specifically meant for us?
The same goes for dolls. If someone is giving you trouble about your little cross-dressing dolly,
just make sure they're aware that the doll doesn't have to be dressed at all. XD
Maybe then they'll shut up. As for underage dolls, it's the same thing.
Dress them how you like. Just don't be too mean to them. ;)

    15. [sorry I don't know how to delete this =(]

    16. It's not about other people being offended by what you dress your doll in, I don't think many people in this community are horrified by cross-dressing dolls or dolls with sexualities or transgendered dolls. For me its more about the concept being drawn on so much. I agree with Nefla, the glamorous 'skirtboi' archetype is overdone, whereas the cross-dressing male doll who wears the same 'everyday wear' that a human female might wear (skirt suit & blouse for instance) is much rarer. The fantasy look of a lot of cross-dressing male dolls is a lot more prevalent and as a result, a lot less interesting, in my opinion.

Part of the reason I decided to put my cross-dressing character into doll form was because you don't see a lot of female cross-dressing dolls and I had the character anyway, I love the character and I wanted to strike out for all the female cross-dressers in the world that aren't getting their recognition in the BJD world. s0yuz's Feilian, Rico, is perhaps the only female cross-dressing doll I've ever seen on this whole forum. Perhaps I'm reading it wrong, but the BJD community seems very skewed towards male dolls and either straight f/m relationships or homosexual m/m relationships, but homosexual f/f relationships are shockingly under-represented considering there is widespread tolerance and love towards m/m romance and other 'gay' related issues like transvestitism.

I'm not against cross-dressing in the slightest, but I'm a bit more discerning about what I'll read in a photostory. I'm not interested in Neko-skirtbois covered in pink and frills, but give me a guy who is masculine but can't turn his back on the lure of the skirt? :aheartbea*nom*:aheartbea

    17. You know, it's funny, cause I don't cross dress my dolls, but my Mom thinks I do. I had my tallest, Soom Sabik, dressed in the Butterfly outfit, which is basically a chinese emperor garb, and Mom thought I was dressing him up like a princess ::Facepalm:: I have nothing against it, but for some people, just having foreign or period styles is like "OMG! CROSSDRESSER!"

    18. I haven't checked this thread in awhile. Thanks for the compliments about Rico. :aheartbea She's got a couple of dresses in her wardrobe now, but she still wears boy clothes from day to day. I've got a full suit and tie set for her in the planning stages.

I think, and this is my opinion only, that this is the result of a concious or subconcious heterosexual bias. The majority of people in the world are heterosexual, and likely the same on DoA.

This same heterosexual bias is what sells "lesbian" porn fantasy to a primairly male heterosexual audience. Do the men who buy this stuff care that the "lesbians" in the porn vid are real? No, and most often the lesbians portrayed are completely unrealistic. It's the same way with yaoi and m/m fantasy that is marketed to (and often created by) heterosexual women. In both cases, real homosexual relationships bear little resemblence to what's lapped up by heterosexual fetishests.

Just my two pence on the matter. :sweat

    19. As someone who has a whole little tribe of non-crossdressing resin guys in skirty period costumes, I've tried reminding people of that darn near every time one of those "OMG!TOO MANY SKIRTBOIZ!"-threads has come up...

I don't think it's done one bit of good. :doh

People just can't seem to wrap their brains around the idea that "boy clothes" doesn't necessarily mean "trousers" under all circumstances and in every time period and culture.

I've just about given up trying.

    20. My boyfriend is a strong supporter of "MUGs" - male unbifurcated garments. He has a wide selection of kilts, one traditional, two Tripp, and several UtiliKilts. He also wears around a sarong that I'm jealous of and always checks the skirts at the thrift store for something not too feminine. He's been called a cross-dresser, but I draw a parallel to Ameila Bloomer. Now, it is entirely common to see trousered females and I can't say that I or my doll crossdress as we sit here in our blue jeans. Sure, I'm wearing a shirt from the men's dept. But as I sit here now, my boyfriend bring me dinner that he cooked (and he'll do the dishes later, too), I fail to see the problem in men behaving outisde their gender rolls. That includes wearing female clothing. It's a double standard if I can wear a men's shirt, suit, or otherwise and get compliments, and he wears a skirt and gets called names. He also has long hair, and I have short. *shrug* Dolls crossdressing, no matter their age or level of crossdressing, don't bother me one bit. Nor do people. My friend's son is 6 and picked out a skirt when told he could have whatever he wanted from the clothing store. And he wears it around the house, playing with his manly trucks and tools and play kitchen. ^__^

So, I don't think it matters if dolls (or people) crossdress.
