Dolly Cross-Dressing

Sep 11, 2007

    1. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing? Not really. So long as its appropriate for this forum, its cool, I mean, some little boys may like to wear girl's clothes just as some little girls like to wear boy clothes.

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?
Personally, my first doll's character is a bit on the feminine side. I plan to buy him a few articles of girl's clothes since his character like to indulge himself occasionally.

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
There's nothing wrong about it at all. It's a form of expression, both cross-dressing in general and photographing it.

    2. In my opinion dolls are often used as if they were human, with their own personalities, and humans can do any number of things whether they are underage
or not. We as their sort of 'parental' figures decide what we allow or do not allow.
We are also technically their 'creators'.
If I had a 14 year old son, and he felt more comfortable dressing as a girl, I wouldn't stop him, nor would I find it 'wrong' or unethical to take pictures of him (after all, parents love taking photos of their children). So why would I find it wrong to do the same with a doll? Something that in reality has no feelings or emotions, and is really just an inanimate object.

Also, as an aside, I have no negative feelings towards cross-dressing, or the freedom of minors to partake in it,
so of course I wouldn't have any problems with it when it comes to dolls. However there are people who hold different religious, political or moral views than I... so really it just depends who you are asking.

    3. I don't think it's wrong, at all. Real people cross-dress: men, women, children, what have you. It's a personal choice, and if you choose that for your doll, I think that's fine. The doll I want, I've already planned soo much for him :3 Including the fact that he's going to be 13 years old and a cross dresser (that's what drew me to this thread!) I think it's just a form of personal expression. And I agree with SilverWinglie :

    4. I don't think think it's worng. It's what you want for your doll. If you enjoy your doll looking like a cross dresser thats for you to decide. My friend has a doll that dresses in girls clothes, and he is one of the prettest dolls I've ever seen.

    5. To be rather frank, if its okay for a girl to wear guys clothes, I don't see the big issue vice versa.

    6. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?
I absolutely don't think so; It's not a sexual thing, and real people under 21 DO cross-dress! XD

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way? It can be anything you want it to be. ^___^

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
Of course not; As long as it's not overtly sexual (Because then it's not really allowed) Then anything is fine. ^___^

    7. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?

No. Children crossdress all the time- it is a natural thing for them to explore gender! :) There is no reason for an underage doll wearing the opposite gender's clothing to be seen in a sexual way.

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?

That is up to the owner, and the style or theme of the doll!

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?

That's like asking if it's wrong to post pictures of fantasy dolls, or gay coupled dolls, etc. Someone out there probably is offended by it, or doesn't like them, but they are not being forced to look~

    8. I like alot of what people are saying it seems. I don't think it is wrong to cross dress your dolls, if that is what your dolls character is like. I have a few dolls that don't mind to cross dress, and i have a few that would never be caught dead in a dress or skirt. I think its just like people themselves. Cross dressing is not "Wrong" Unless you are forcing a person to do it who doesn't want to or if it interferes with personal relationships... Its not a problem otherwise. So, if you have a boy doll even if it is a little 8 year old or 6 years old (some real boys will try on mom's clothes and what not when playing) but if their character is one that doesn't mind it, and likes to ware frillies, its ok! I don't think it matters otherwise!

    9. It is more unethical to suppress one's freedom of expression.

    10. i only have one doll that likes both male and female clothing. She is a he but you can't tell if he is woman or a man.
So being able to dress her in frill one day and a business suit the next... is great to me.

    11. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?
No , not in my opinion . Some dolls that depict young children can go both as a boy or as a girl , because they look very much the same . Chubby cheecks , big eyes , flat chest . Basiclly it`s all the same . So it doesnt`t matter to me , as long as it`s done tastefuly . And as another member posted , little children play dress up all the time.
b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?
This is just a matter of personal taste .
c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
Of course not . I don`t mind cross dressing dolls pictures personaly . It`s just another doll wearing anither pink outfit , and I enjoy seeing all kinds of cross dressing dolls.

    12. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?
I guess this is an interesting topic to me, because the next doll I purchase (an MSD) is going to be a cross-dresser. He's based on a character of mine who is 19 years old, and really, there's nothing sexual about his cross-dressing. He just prefers to wear pretty dresses to wearing men's clothing, although he's been known to rock a suit. I don't think that a man preferring to wear women's clothing, or a woman preferring to wear men's clothing has anything at all to do with sexuality, and I don't think ethics even enter into the discussion. It's about personal taste.

It's like someone else said, if I had a teenage son and he wanted to wear dresses, I wouldn't care. Likewise, if my teenage daughter wanted to wear boy's clothing, more power to her. Clothing is a form of self expression, and doing something outside of the norm doesn't automatically make it "unethical" or "wrong."

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?
I guess I don't really understand the question. Seika (my character) can and has often been confused for a girl, and he exhibits feminine personality traits, but he is most definitely male. He just happens to be a boy who likes to look pretty, which often entails wearing make up, pretty dresses, and growing his hair long. ^^

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
I don't see anything wrong with it at all. Unless they are overtly sexual or otherwise inappropriate, I don't see an issue. Personally, I'd like to see a lot more of female dolls wearing boy's clothes! And I don't mean unisex clothes. I mean awesome suits meant for male dolls, or something like that. ^_^

As it's been said, however, photos of an "underage" doll being sexualized through crossdressing could be considered inappropriate. I would not consider it "unethical," however, because a doll is an object, not a living being. It's not as if a real child is being sexualized. Sometimes showing these things through photography may be perfectly appropriate if it is used to make a point about society. That's called art. ^_^

    13. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?
No, not at all. I think a lot of people tend to confuse "cross-dressing" with something sexual and perverted, when it's really not (there are exceptions, as there are for everything, obviously). When I was younger, and even now, I still dress more masculine than I do feminine. I always felt more comfortable in those clothes than I do clothing that is more "female." I assume it's the same on the other side of the coin. Whether you're underage or not doesn't matter. It's all about feeling comfortable in your own skin and the second layer you wear out in the world.

I don't see how it would be any different with a doll. If the character you represent likes to cross-dress, then let them do it. I've got a character who will be a doll eventually who cross dresses constantly. He just feels better in those clothes, and it matches his feminine build more. Granted he's not "underage," but even if he was younger, I'd still dress him that way because that's the way he is.

I think it's all in the way you portray it, too. Underage doll as a cross-dresser? Fine. Under-age doll dressed as Dr. Frank-N-Futer? A little weird, and one of those "exceptions" I was talking about.

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?

I think that's up to the individual owner and how that owner wants his/her doll to look, or whatever character they want to portray (if any).

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?

I don't see why not. There's a difference between cross-dressing minors and sexualization of minors. Unless you want to say that a boy baby placed into a girl's outfit is sexualizing a baby. And that would make you the one sick enough to think that thought, no?

    14. The first thing I want to point out is that (GASP) dolls are just chunks of plastic. They have no gender. Yeah, I know, most BJDs have anatomically correct genitalia. So what? It's your doll, as a customizable doll it is your creation, it's gender is... whatever YOU think it is. I am an amateur costume historian....and it often occurs to me that compared to almost any earlier historical period... we are all cross dressing. Girls wear pants, guys wear kilts, a lot of things considered street wear now were once considered underclothes. Let your doll wear whatever it's little dolly heart desires reguardless of gender.

My very masculine looking doll wears clothes that look masculine to me. ER, except perhaps for the silver lame robe that I call "Ming the Merciless visits the harem" . Gender is in the eye of the beholder.

    15. Like many others, I don't think it is wrong to have cross-dressing dolls. In fact, there isn't anything wrong with cross-dressing in real life, so the same applies to dolls. Sure some may find fault with it, but if it is not their dolls, then they shouldn't be concerned.

    16. Crossdressing is should never be considered "inappropriote". Since gender dress is a culturally defined thing, there is nothing to say that what we consider male or female dress is incorrect to put on the opposite sex, no matter what the age. Levels of inappropriote (under 21), should be consistent across gender, regardless of what gender the clothing is. I think crossdressing is hugely popular in the bjd community, so posting such pictures had better be okay!! Haha! I have one boy who crossdresses hardcore and wears makeup all the time. I am planning to get a female bodied doll in the future, who will be transgendered, and I will therefore be modifying the chest to be appropriote for that character. That goes into something other than crossdressing though, because the doll will be transitioning, and therefore dressing as a boy would not be crossdressing, but dressing as the gender he feels he is, despite being trapped in a female body.

    17. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?

Gosh, I can't even comprehend why in the world age would have ANYTHING to do with the 'ethics' of cross-dressing!*_* What on earth could be 'unethical'/inappropriate/too far about a young boy dressed as a girl? Unless it's a six year old in lingerie, then I don't honestly see how it matters what body the clothes are on at all..I mean, even for a 'real' boy as opposed to a doll, there is just nothing wrong with it...I seriously can't see how there could be :lol:I know there are people out there who don't like 'cross-dressers' but to be perfectly honest, I have no clue what their reasons are for it. It boggles my mind that there can be such passionate distaste for a style of clothing!

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?

I will have a cross-dressing doll in the near future, and he'll be wearing bloomers and frills from head to toe! I'm not giving him a feminine face up, only because it will suit his character better. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'all the way', however...

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?

Gosh no! Not even a little bit! Is it wrong to post pictures of 'emo' dolls or 'punk' dolls because some people don't like that way of dressing? And even if we go as far as talk about those who are highly prejudiced about 'cross-dressing' for whatever reason, let us not forget that these ARE dolls we are talking about, and not a man in heels and fishnets walking through your lounge room uninvited! I think it is each to their own, and everybody should be free to dress their dollies how they please...not to mention, dress themselves how they please. I'm pro love and acceptance! :aheartbea

    18. Cross Dressing Doll - SO WHAT?
Personally I would really like to know why people on DOA seem somewhat obsessed with this topic. I mean the majority of the Asian type doll sculpts look like they could be either gender anyway so I am not sure why the big hullabaloo of interest and/or discussion about dolls in clothes that are supposedly belonging to the opposite gender.

As for it being unethical, why would be that? Where does ethics come in with taking pictures of dolls. Once again, these are not people they are inanimate objects made out of resin. They do not feel and they do not have souls. Why should it matter what people are doing with the objects that they own and have paid for?

I think people may have religious or other reservations about cross-dressing dolls and that is what forms the basis of their obsessive concern over the matter. I don't understand how people can say that doll photos could be sexualized. There is no sexuality pursuant to an inanimate object which is not obviously sexual.

If people want to cross dress their dolls and give them gender neutral face ups and the link then let them. I sure do not see what all of the ado is about. That is supposed to be the beauty of BJDs. You create the doll you want regardless of what the manufacturer or other people might think.

    19. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?
      I don't think it's a problem...people cross-dress at all ages...So why does it matter if your boy prefers lady-clothing?

b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way? I usually leave on the default face-ups, so that's less of an issue for me. My DZ Genly looked pretty lady-like when I got him, and the long white wig he wears make him look pretty girlie...So he also wears dresses sometimes. All depending on how I feel.

c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
Of course not! All of these dolls are beautiful, and we should never NOT show something that is beautiful.

    20. Well after reading this thread i was convinced that I should have atleast one cross dressing doll. One of my Bluebloods had a kilt set that I purchased for him as a halloween get up along with tsome red glass eyes, a long steaked red wif and some moon boots which seem to be the envy of all who see them. As you can see by my avatar picture, i think i nailed the cross dressing look down pat. i took this guys to a meet today and decided, what the hey, I bought him a Monique gold wig which is clearly for a girl doll. i put that on him and now everyone who sees him refer to him as her. After a while i decided to sop correcting everyone and he and I had a great laugh about how gender nuetral his sculpt is and how easily one can change his genter by changing around his accesories.
