Dolly Cross-Dressing

Sep 11, 2007

    1. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?

      i believe neither imagining them nor creating them to be a sin, but especially not "picturing" them.

      b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?

      if "all the way" hints at the addition of female genitalia (for a male doll), this would by definition be a female doll. i hope that some owner would endeavor to be so bold. if "all the way" hints at undergarments, i would presume this to be covered under the category of "clothing." though, should "all the way" somehow reference sexual contact... well, perhaps this deserves more investigation, but at present i know of no method for this madness.

      c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?

      dolls are modeled after the appearance and behavior of humans, including hubris and vanity - in which case, why not.

      this post is most interesting in that it poses the question as to whether or not art should imitate life. as most users have essentially rode the wave of creativity argument, that doll owners should just do as they see fit, it makes me very happy. however, it puzzles me to think that some users would would impose to stifle the creativity of others - claiming that the imitation of life and or manifestation of imaginative fancy should have restrictions adhering to their personal standard of "decency." regardless of what i do personally with my dolls, paintings, person, or photographs, i strongly believe that others should have the unabridged freedom to create whatever and however they desire.

    2. I think there's something along the lines of how a man should not dress as a woman, and woman should a definitely not dress as a man in Leviticus. I think there was some punishment or other attached to it, but remember, this sounds more like a law of man than God- I personally don't feel that God would care how anyone dresses. I mean, He totally didn't care when two certain people ran about naked, did He? (Then again, I'm technically a former Christian, turned Buddhist-Pagan-Shinto-watchamacallit, so I might be a little bit off...)

      A.) Is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?

      I see nothing wrong with crossdressing in general. Ok, sure, guys in Lolita dresses might make me cringe, but it isn't "wrong". It would only be unethical, again, if there was any objectivity or sexual objectification involved. Girls cross-dressing isn't a problem at all for me. But perhaps that's because I'm a tomboyish girl who likes to wear guys' jeans. :P

      Also, in terms of underage... there's nothing wrong at all with it. actually, in the 18th century, little boys and little girls would wear dresses known as frocks until the age of 3 or so. Then, boys would take after their fathers and girls, after their mothers. Personally, I'd love to see a gal in 18th century menswear, but that's probably just me.

      Also, heels were first worn by men; King Louis XIII of France wore shoes with a red "Louis heel", because he wanted not only to be taller, but to show off his shapely, manly, tight-clad legs. :P And, naturally, the nobility quickly adopted the style because they wanted to be fashionable and copy the king.

      B.) When cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? Or does one go all the way?

      Going "all the way", I assume, would be totally changing the gender of a doll. I'm fine with that. Whether it's a transgender character for a photostory, or just changing the gender initially, it's really no big deal. Then again, I'm pretty liberal on the transgender issue. Understand that if we wanted to be even more complex, there's always the term "genderqueer", which has nothing to do with sexual orientation. It just means your placement on the strict gender spectrum is rather fuzzy. Also, sex and gender are not necessarily the same things. Sex is defined as the biological sex of an individual.

      C.) Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?

      No, not at all. But again, if there's anything objectionable at all about the photos, or if you feel that people may be strongly offended by the photos, don't post them, or you can ask a mod. Also, if you're afraid of them just being "offensive", then you should put a warning in the title or in a paragraph in your first post.

      For example, "In this photostory, you will see pictures depicting a Hound, Bernard, and a Husky in Elegant and Sweet Lolita dresses, and one Homme Ducan in a itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny-yellow-polkadot bikini." Ok, so that's a little extreme, but hopefully you will get the picture...

      (Off Topic: Actually, I'd like to see that just for kicks!)

    3. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?

      Eh? I dont think it is. Crossdressing itself isnt a sexual thing. It's only people's preferences that can make it that way. I used to dress my brothers up in girl clothes when I was litte, and it was in no way sexual to anyone in the house. I know that a good portion of yaoi fangirls will dress bishies up in schoolgirl uniforms, or kimonos or something because that is a fantasy. That's not true for everyone though. Take Momiji from fruits basket. He dresses in a girl's school uniform, but it's not sexual and more like "aww cute he's completely hyper and does such random things." Also, I think if a 14 year old girl fantasizes about her 14 year old boy dolls wearing dresses then it's ok.

      b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?

      I think it's usually clothes and makeup. Well posing in feminine ways is part of it. I dont see many people who make padded bras for their male dolls though. I guess because the point seems more to be about making girly boys rather than just random girls.

      c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?

      Uh...unless they're in the process of killing babies/doing something pornographic/etc...why would it be wrong to post pictures.
      ~~~~
      I am terribly sorry if these seem nOObish to some, but i really want to know.
    4. I don't necessarily understand the big phenomenon with cross dressing guys, but then again Girls don't like Girls so I guess guys are their only alternative.
      I don't particularly care for cross dressing overall, but I do like it sometimes when it just looks really good and it isn't obvious that it's a male cross dressing as a female. (When it looks like Ken wearing Barbie's skirt, etc) I don't necessarily understand why it's such a big deal that everyone has to debate on it though.
      Then again, I do think this probably goes hand in hand with the yaoi/slash/BL fad that is seemingly sweeping the world. Every "bishie" must be femme. Oh well. . . to each their own.
      I've got no problems with owners cross-dressing their dolls (because they are their dolls, not mine), as long as they keep the bad cross-dress to themselves. :XD:
    5. a] No, for me it's okay. If they're underage there shouldn't be any sexual content, but otherwise, cross dressing is just fine for both boys/girls.
      b] I'm not really interested in letting my doll cross dress, because that's not his character. but if i really DID, i would leave it at clothing and faceup.
      c] no, it's definitely not wrong
    6. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?
      My first doll is going to be a Sha because he's feminine and pretty (I find that cute) and in my opinion, having him crossdress would only make him cuter. It kinda adds a deeper side to his personality....but it's hard to explain why....*FAILS*
      I guess it's because I like the idea of people not being as they appear, be it in a benign or malignant way, I like that kind of mysterious deepness (bad phrase....sorry) and I'm not a big fan of the traditional 'male' and 'female' image (i.e. uber-feminine, uber-submissive female and uber-masculine, uber-dominant male.).
      b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?
      Uhm....I'm not sure what 'going all the way' is, but feminine clothing and a cute face up is good enough for me. If 'going all the way' involves sanding away a doll's peen then....no....that's too far.....
      c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
      Nah, providing it's harmless and the doll isn't being objectified. So long as it's a nice, non-sexualized image then that's fine for me.
      Sophie.
      (sorry if there's any misspelling).
    7. I agree. I don't think there's any ethical or moral issues about it, it's up to the person how they dress their dolls.
      Though, as with everything, if it's done in the wrong context it could be considered unethical and wrong. It's still entirely subjective though, in my opinion, so there'll never be any right answer about it. I think the general consensus is that it's fine, though.
    8. ethical is in the eye of the beholder, but here is how I see it...
      a] How could it be unethical to picture "underage" dolls cross-dressing? Darlings, I've been WILLINGLY crossdressing since I was four! :)
      Oscar Wilde said his parents would dress him in a girly manner sometimes when he was a toddler. Do NOT confuse cross-dressing with abuse! It's clothing. it's fabric. In different cultures and historical periods, what is gender-specific dress to us does not follow the same guidelines. If your little resin cutie looks nice in something, what is wrong with that?
      b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Well...it's a matter of taste, I suppose!
      c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers? OF COURSE NOT! How is it wrong? It's no more wrong than looking at a real cross dresser! (my icon is a photo of myself in drag! LOL!) So long as something follows the house rules of this forum or wherever it's being posted, why should a little cross-dressing be wrong? The whole point of doing anything with dollies is to have FUN!
    9. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing? noo its a doll
      b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way? it can be as little or as much as you want.
      c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
      no its not....
      IMO if i want a girly looking doll ill buy a girl doll, if i want a manly doll ill buy a boy doll. i would prob never cross dress any of my dolls.
    10. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?
      -Of course no and this happen in real life. If they look good like this and the character likes it, why hold back?
      b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?
      -It's all about taste here, but I think is importante think about the character. Would he only use feminine clothing or would he go all the way?Most of the dolls that cross-dress looks kinda feminine so the face-up is almost like included.And I think that is really cute ^^
      c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
      No,why would be?They aren't doing nothing wrong
    11. I don't really see a problem with it myself, XD Except in the awkward situation when you comment "Oh, she's so pretty!" "It's a boy..." "Oh..! Erm..." lol I've had that happen in a con before commenting on someone else's doll. It gets confusing, but I don't see it as being bad.
    12. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?
      Uh no, they are just cross dressing its not like it has to be related to anything sexual (which I'll assume you're implying by the 'underage' part of the question).
      b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?
      Well my boy is just that, a boy but he likes to wear girls clothes more often than not, it is simply his character. People tell me that if I wanted to make dresses and skirts then I should have bought a girl, well Kaito was originally planned to have a kind of prince type look, you know like Renaissance style outfits and what not but he just looked so damn good in girl's clothes and posed so well that I guess he likes them more. Whatever, it doesn't bother me any. Apparently he has a feminine faceup but I disagree, I did it with a gothic theme in mind and apparently having long eyelashes and wearing lipstick means that you are a woman now to a lot of people :roll:
      c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
      Uh again no. You may as well ask if it is wrong to post pictures of dolls who wear preppy clothes or those dolls who wear jeans...it is just clothing.
    13. There is nothing wrong with it at all. Also, there is nothing wrong with people cross-dressing either. People are people. Clothes are clothes. Dolls are dolls. Do whatever you like, as long as you don't hurt anyone.
    14. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Yes

      b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Clothes/face-up.
      c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      No,just put something up in the topic title stating they are cross-dressing
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      I don't support crossdressing myself,and I'm hoping to get mostly Cerberus Project.Luts boy sculpts.
    15. How is that wrong or unethical? Cross dressing is not inherently sexual, it isn't harmful--it's just a clothing choice. If it doesn't appeal to you, that's fine and I wouldn't try and convince you otherwise. However, I find it a little worrying when people start slapping the unethical/wrong label on things that are harmless, but that they don't personally like.
    16. is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" (that means 21 for me) dolls cross-dressing?
      More often than not it's the character's choice. If it is... nope. You can crossdress and not have it be an inherently sexual act.
      when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?
      What do you mean, 'go all the way'? Actually female clothing and doll-sized 'enhancements'? I think that would actually be cooler with me than just making your doll super-feminine without a good reason. I've had recurring love affairs with glam rock, so if a man's wearing it, I consider it men's clothing.
      I love how people treat crossdressing as strictly male to female. My first girl doll will likely be a tough little thing, I expect to be making teeny little pairs of socks for her...
      Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
      Why would it be? It's a choice of clothing. A doll of a character that's actually transgendered I would find intriguing, but I'd be uneasy with if people were only treating it as an excuse to 'crossdress' a doll otherwise identified as male. There's a biiiiig difference. If you don't like it, you're not being obliged to look, and I'd put a warning in thread titles just to be safe... and to attract people who like it, of course.
    17. The only people I can really see it offending would be people who are really uncomfortable in general with those practices among real people (and there's usually so much that offends them that it's ridiculous to try to cater to their 'needs')
      I don't think it's wrong at all. It's real, it happens every day all over the world and doesn't hurt anyone, it's not like you're making your doll pose as a pedophile or something.
    18. a] is it unethical/wrong to picture "underage" dolls cross-dressing?
      To me no. There are lots of children who do cross dress in real life, so why shun that fact and not permit resin children to do the same, if they want to let them
      b] when cross dressing how far does one go? Does one leave it to feminine clothing/face-up? or does one go all the way?
      As far as the doll wants
      My boy Kollin has girly hair, wears short skirts, and wears ladies panties under the skirts. Right now his face up is a bit more girly than he or I wish it to be but that will change with the next round of face ups when I redo them in the spring. He however, is strait and has a girlfriend. the only part about his cross dressing she doesn't like is him borrowing her undies
      He chooses to because he likes to be fashionable; but, he does not like the feel of pants, so he wears skirts, he knows he can pull off being a girl if he wanted so unless he needs to identify himself as a man he is not bothered by people using feminine pronouns
      c] Is it wrong to post pictures of your cross-dressers?
      Nope, for the same reason it is not wrong to post pictures of gay couples, gore, or any other mildly controversial subjects, if someone is offended by it, then it should be noted before all the pictures that there is a crossdresser in the photoshoot and that people offended by it should go look at kittens and puppies.
    19. I really do not think it is anything wrong with the cross-dressing. It is more a personal opinion....unless dolls are own by other owners,who do not wish their boy to wear dress. Although some male doll doesn't look good to do the cross-dressing, but still you can make them wear it. Just be aware other people could feel uncomfortable if it is in fornt of public.
    20. So I don't think there's a problem with showing a 'younger' doll cross dressing.....I don't always understand the whole cross dressing thing. I'm a big anime/manga fan and I hate seeing fan works of characters cross dressing just for the sake of putting them in a dress. My boy doll however....I'm buying him girly tops and a couple cute skirts to pair with jeans and shorts. I'm a big Jrock/Visual Kei music fan too and I like the look. There is nothing wrong with cross dressing! Girls do it all the time. Girls wear pants which has long been considered male clothing so what's wrong with a boy wearing a skirt? Why is it wrong in the first place? Because men are supposed to be manly and wear pants and kill things etc? I design a lot of clothing and 'girl clothes' are infinitely more interesting than 'mens'. Theres only so much you can do with jeans and a tshirt or a suit, but so much you can do that a 'woman' would wear. I'm not saying all boys need to wear lace and ribbon or even skirts, but I don't think its a problem that my boy doll wears shorts and leg warmers and a kimono top. Its cute and it suits his character and I will take pictures of it. If you don't like it you don't have to look. Everyone is allowed their personal preference and I'm not going to force anyone to accept mine, but I don't think cross dressing in and of itself is wrong. There are times it can be wrong (ie: when its forced or used for humiliation), but when its done the same as wearing anything else what's the problem with it?
      That's just my thoughts....
