Dollzone Discussion ~ 60 and 70cm ~ Part VIII

Thank you! I do need to fix his right eyelash though, it's a little crooked and it bugs me when I take photos at certain angles.

Oh yeah! No matter what it is, there's always something that needs to be touched up.

 

^^^ so true, i noticed one of mine had a wonky eye position the other day when going through some photos - he gots the crazy eye

 

How do you guys pick who to order? Merlin, Nighthawk, Snow, Nan, and Rowell all have me so captivated. So many dolls, so limited funds.
Not only that, I've seen some of their heads with alternate faceups, only to find out through some digging that it was them all along. That's how you know you're in love!

IzabethS, I brought this over to the DZ thread because I'm going to be talking about your DZ Chen, and I thought the Mods wouldn't appreciate me talking about a DZ doll in the DF-A thread.

So, I think I may have had a senior moment. Did you get a new DZ Chen head for Val's old body? How did I miss this? So you have a new Val? This I must see! (You know I love Val, right? I'm one of his biggest fan girls! )

I would love to see a picture of both Val(s) together. Pleeeeze?

 

No worries!! Val actually got a DF-A Susu head now, but I'm not entirely sold on it... I'm tempted to snatch up a second Chen head from the MP, accidental twins?

 

Oh IzabethS, DZ Chen is such an awesome sculpt; strong, sexy, and almost mystical in his Zen calmness. I think a second Chen sculpt would be awesome! (I have two DZ Yuu(s) )

But, sorry! Please forgive my over-exuberance about DZ Chen. I'm such a fangirl for the old DZ sculpts. DF-A Susu is a lovely sculpt, too.

And, just cos I love him so much, here is a little spam of my first DZ Yuu. He's one of the original "light tans" that Emory had in stock at The Junky Spot, back in the day.

 

Your Yuu is beautiful and handsome! I got my Chen through The Junky Spot back in 2011 (back when Emory still did pre-orders). He'd gotten a body upgrade from the B70-001 to the 003 in 2015, but as the character evolved and grew, the facial features of Chen no longer fit Val. But I wasn't willing to part with the head, the first doll I'd preordered when I was a newbie, so I decided to make someone else out of it.


I just repainted the head this weekend, so here is Kassandra (Kass) again!

 

Thank you for the compliments on my DZ Yuu (Boris). I got him from Emory for Christmas 2006. He was a gift from my husband. (Holy cow! That boy is 14 years old now!)

Wow! Look at your girl! Who knew the Chen sculpt could make such a lovely lady? He...I mean "she" looks great! Welcome to world Kass! (IzabethS, your face-ups just keep getting better and better!

I'm glad you couldn't part with the sculpt. I'd really miss seeing it. With Dollzone's aesthetic having changed so much since they partnered with Doll Chateau, you never see these older sculpts around anymore. And, I have to admit, the older sculpts have a special place in my heart.

 

Thank you! I was really unsure before I color matched the head and repainted it. It's a pretty big noggin, but she adjusted well to being a girl now. I'm hoping to get some full body shots done soon. The classic DZ sculpts have a special place in my heart, my wife has an old old April, the almost Volks looking one!

 

Does anyone know how often there's a Dollzone sale? The current one on BJDivas ends next sunday, but I'm contemplating waiting until the next one to order Merlin.

 

She looks incredibly pretty! What a versatile sculpt!

 

FuyumiAya, I'm no expert, and correct me if I'm wrong, but Dollzone seems to have a lot of sales.

There's usually the big Christmas/Winter sale that sometimes turns into the New Years/Spring Festival sale. They also do sales every time they introduce a new doll, or when the do their discontinuation events. I think it's safe to assume another sale will be just around the corner.

But, if you really want a doll, why wait? The longer you put it off, the longer you have to wait. Dollzone has some pretty long wait-times.

 

I only just placed an order for a Ringdoll and a Doll Chateau in January. I figure I should pace myself some.

 

FuyumiAya, I totally understand. That is good advice. When I first got into this hobby I was terrible at pacing myself. (Muwahahaha! I regret nothing! )
