Dollzone Discussion ~ 60 and 70cm ~ Part VIII

Aug 1, 2018

    1. IzabethS, your Minas is absolutely spectacular! I love her face-up! :aheartbea

And, you are right, the Dream Valley body looks perfect with her!

Thanks so much for sharing her. :D

    2. Thank you! And I am happy to share her, finally. I've made her several fun little magnetic hair accessories, which attach with taped on magnets under the wig.

Here's another picture of her, this time full body. She's a lanky girl, but perfect even if I have no clothing that fits her properly (the dress is modified to fit her thin stature).

It's kind of funny, I didn't intend for her to be a goth girl, but here we are anyway. At least she accepted the goth clomper boots since I have 0 flat girl shoes that fit her gosh darn long feet! I originally wanted her to be a fairy, or a nymph, but she chose goth. Who am I to force a doll into wearing clothes that don't suit them?

    3. She looks perfect all skinny and lanky like that. Dolls will wear what they wanna wear *shrugs*. She looks great in that outfit. Maybe you could coax her into being a pastel goth if you wanted to go for softer colours?

    4. @IzabethS - i love her face up too, and she looks great in her outfit and accessories :love
some of my DV boys are so lanky they wear 1/4 sized tops, might be an option for her too :3nodding:

    5. Yeah for sure, and thanks for the tip! I think she’s gonna stay in black and purple though, it just suits her so well!
Thank you! And I might have it try that, her arms and legs are miles long, so maybe some short sleeved stuff?

    6. She looks so delicate and pretty! Great job!!

    7. @IzabethS - Ah she's so cute! :D I love the colours you've used for her face up, they're so dreamy!

    8. @IzabethS - funnily enough, we were just discussing clothing and scene identity over brunch this last weekend - how wearing rhinestone hoops and halter tops doesn't make my friend's sister any less of a real deal old skool punk (Mel's been listening to obscure punk for 25+ years, she shouldn't have to "name 5 songs to prove [she's] not a poser") and my new light purple palette upcycled sari blouse (with pockets!!) doesn't make me any less goth, even in blue jeans and no makeup.
Point is, I bet your girl could totally rock some skinny jeans with those boots (useful for hiding highwaters, for sure) and a pastel top and still look goth AF ;)

    9. Throwback Thursday!

Here’s my 2010 DZ Hong, on his ancient 71cm body. At the time, he was going through his demon phase.

I love this old boy. :aheartbea

    11. He's amazing!! My Chen had a fox phase in 2011-2012, even though he was supposed to be a vampire.

At least one thing never changed, he was always goth, but don't call him that or he'll scoff and say he isn't that old

    12. Thank you Girrl! :DHe definitely appreciates the compliment. He’s so vain.

Thank you Dragoneye1300! :love I just love the old Dollzone sculpts.

Thank you IzabethS! :D I love the Hong sculpt so much. Oh! Who am I kidding? All of the classic 70cm Dollzone boys have my heart. ❤️ I was hooked the moment I got my first DZ boy in 2006, a 70cm Ying.

YAY for Throwback Thursdays! We should make that a thing. I love seeing old photos of members’ old Dollzone babies. They may be gone from Dollzone’s site, but they are not forgotten.

OMG! Seeing your Chen with fox ears is awesome! They look good on him. :fangirl:

    13. @Rabbit-moon
Yes, the DZ Hong is really something special! :D
He is the first BJD I fell in love with. The second DZ doll I really like since then is Chen-Asura. :love
I love the old DZ dolls with their cool fullset outfits. Unfortunately, I didn't have the money to buy any BJD back then. :sweat
So I am always very happy when old DZ dolls are shown in current photos. :kitty2

    14. Thank you Dragoneye1300! I’m glad you are enjoying the photos! :3nodding:

I agree; Chen-Asura was a gorgeous boy. I think he was limited. (I can’t recall now.) Unfortunately, I didn’t have the money at the time, but I would have loved to have brought that boy home. The tattoo on his face was so cool!

You can always check the Marketplace for old DZ boys. I was lucky to have found several in MP that members wanted to re-home. I’m so happy to have gotten them. I’m loving them to death! (There’s just something about those early, lanky DZ bodies. The boy dolls being made today are so full of muscles. OMG! So ripped! :o:aeyepop:)

    15. @Rabbit-moon He was indeed limited. Chen/Asura was my first BJD, and is my current icon picture. Mine still has his tattoo although redone by Angeltoast along with his faceup. I liked his original faceup, but after ten years it was time for a change. His neck tattoo and body blushing are still original though.

    16. Thank you @Rabbit-moon I also think we should do a throwback Thursday for the classic sculpts (though the new ones are lovely too)

My Chen is no longer Val, as I reshelled him into an OT head for this thread. I couldn't bare to sell the Chen head though, so I gave it a new life. Now her name is Kassandra and she is on a DF-A 68cm girl body.

She looks really lovely in my eyes like this. She's definitely killing it with those bedroom eyes

    17. I need to take some new/updated pics of Fei-Lau (Edward) as he got a new outfit months ago. But all my dolls are inaccessible right now as I just finished a HUGE movement of stuff from my brother's place to mine and the room with my dolls is stuffed to the gills with boxes.

I like the lankiness of the old DZ bodies (Fei-Lau is from 2013) but his knees drive me crazy since they delight in collapsing. He's also mellowed from his original paper white into a lovely pale ivory.

    18. Eeeee~ I love seeing everyone's older DZ dolls :D
They're just so charming and nostalgic!

@Rabbit-moon - Your Hong is so cool! Are those horns from DZ as well?

@IzabethS - Hahaha when is a vampire not some semblance of Goth? Chen is such a versatile sculpt. I loved him as Val and she still looks incredible as Kassandra!

    19. Oh yes, I would appreciate a 'Throwback Thursday' for the old DZ sculpts, please! :kitty2
Even if I can't contribute anything. :sweat
Maybe I'll have to start looking again for some old DZ boys?!? ;)

Do you all still have the original DZ costumes for the dolls? Or has the fake leather not survived to this day?
I would be interested to know because DZ made a lot of cool outfits with it back then. :)
