1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

DollZone Moment and Anson discussion part 1

Oct 14, 2011

    1. My poor Anson has been in her box since she arrived. Since I have no where safe to display her. Nor the time to work on her. I'm beginning to wonder why I put moment on layaway. :( I wish I had more time for dollies. :(

    2. darkmothflame: Wow he's really looking more like sculpted marble. Maybe you should walk away and take a break before deciding to redo the parts. Sometimes one is harder on themselves right after the work. Marble pieces that are not carved out of one piece do look like that.

    3. darkmothflame I have a suggestion. If you don't like the darkness of the lines on the legs then you could try lightly airbrushing over the top of some of the lines. If you have the paint at the right consistency it should give a nice translucent effect to the lines - almost as if they were slightly below the surface

    4. darkmothflame: He's looking great! Those shots with the sun are especially beautiful -- and fitting, since marble has that same kind of translucency. :)

    5. i just felt like sharing a pic of my girl... nothing special

    6. Nothing special, but boy is she gorgeous! I love Anson!:aheartbea

    7. Kittywolf13, thanks for sharing that photo!:) Has there ever been an ABJD that looks so utterly amazing and gorgeous completely blank? I think not!

    8. thanks all for your comments ^^

i can take a picture for every one, but i'm still pretty sure i'm going to clean it all off because my vision for him was soft subtle veining so he would still mostly look blank and the blushing got heavier as i went along :sweat

i think i need to sit down and do him all at once rather than over a long period of time....

    9. darkmothflame. - I know what you were going for. The head was more like that, not too much veining. Your body looks great, but it does have a lot of veining. Sometimes less is more. You were just too industrious. Next time you need to be more lazy and than you might have that plainer look.

    10. So, I was playing around with Photoshop again:

I don't know... I like it, but it just doesn't seem quite right for my nascent Muse. I want something a little more vivid, I guess.

I tweaked the Photoshop file a bit since last time. You can get it here. The instructions were on my original post, but really, if you know Photoshop (or the graphics program of your choice, I'm actually using GIMP myself), it's pretty much self-explanatory. :)

    11. Oh wow! That's so gorgeous...I really love those colors! And I love how you're using your photo editing program to come up with ideas for your doll...it's obviously a very cool tool. You know, one of the things I love most about Den of Angels is the inspiration I'm always finding here. It's very uplifting to see something wonderful and then have your imagination tweaked into coming up with it's very own unique variant. These colors...oh my...they already have me thinking of a future doll project.:) Thank you for that!

    12. The cool colors work beautifully, that is a very spring look for a doll. :)

      .hlp

    13. finally got around to taking a picture of aphelion. while the blushing is not bad - i do agree with people there - it's not what i was intending and i think i let my mind wander *too* much while doing it :sweat (curse you cheesy sci-fi made for tv movies! )

so this weekend i'm going to clean off everything but his head and starting anew.... but after i work on a different project doll so i can regroup on him.

    14. Wow, I think he's looking good... are you sure you want to wipe him completely? I thought Whitewolf had a good suggestion about airbrushing (or blushing) a paler color back over the veins... it might add a kind of translucent effect.

    15. lol - i already cleaned him off ^^; i just need to rinse the residue off and seal him up again.

however, i'm getting really familiar with his curves and angles with all this work and it's giving me a lot of inspiration for my incoming anson/renata hybrid and moon/anson hybrid. i'm excited to be working with the deep blues i'm planning for the moon hybrid - i found this dragon to use as inspiration - http://green-buzz.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/masters_of_disguise1.jpg

    16. Whoa! That dragon is incredible, darkmothflame. I'm so excited by your planned projects, and while I'm super anxious to see them, I realize this level of art takes time...so I await the results with tingling anticipation and patience.;)

    17. Wow, that's really cool... and those are some neat hybrids you have planned... I look forward to seeing what you do with them. :)

    18. I'm so sad that I just discovered these lovely planthros two days ago. orz
@darkmothflame - Moment looks gorgeous! He really does look like he's carved from marble.

    19. thanks - i'm going to wash him off this afternoon and work on him this weekend. it's driving me nuts not to have him done already! (i took a break to work on a different dolly project but i kept thinking of him, and it's not good to be distracted with an xacto blade in hand! )

i'm really hoping that dollzone will release more plant themed dolls - even if limited - because they are true works of art and i think people made it clear to dollzone that they love this new direction. they do have renata available who has twig arms. i think perhaps some more research into the various shapes that can be safely transported needs to be done, but i thought they had done a pretty good transporting them as is. i saw that several distributors stopped carrying the fae versions of jeremy and una due to breakage in shipping, which has me worried that those two will be discontinued soon too....

    20. Speaking of works of art, I just came across this on DeviantArt. A gorgeous gothic take on Moment. :)
