1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

DollZone Moment and Anson discussion part 1

Oct 14, 2011

    1. She's just so beautiful as is I had only thought to do a light blushing of color here and there. But it seems kind of boring to me now. Lol

    2. I was looking at Pearl Ex powders yesterday and can't believe how expensive they are! I got a set years ago, but it does not have all the colors I want, sigh. I figured it would cost me $50 in supplies to do the blush up of peacock feathers (powders and sealant). I just cant spend that much at this time, so I guess my boy will remain blank. Darn!

    3. Kurogane, people were talking about the pearlex a couple of months ago and as I had never heard about them I went to search them out. Yes, if you buy a lot of colours they are expensive but you could just start with a few different ones at first. They come in very small jars and are not much money although I can't remember how much now. I wanted to make sure I had a variety so got kind of carried away and bought 18 different varieties so if it was late at night and I was looking for a particular colour I wouldn't have to wait until morning or just use a colour I didn't like. I think they were in the $5 range for a small jar. They are gorgeous. I used them to paint my Deer girl's legs and am really happy with how it turned out. They are very good quality.

Now I just wish I would get my Anson to paint. This wait has been a really long time. Too long and I am starting to get fed up. I ordered her December 1 from DDE. Dollzone is taking far to long as far as I am concerned. I phoned DDE and they are starting to wonder what is going on.

    4. kurogane: Try TKB Trading -- their sample size goes a long way. :)

    5. Hmm. I orderEd moment in January... I guess I'll be going on 3 months now? It's a smidge long but they had an event then as well. I'm ok waiting because I need the time for my layaway since I'm unemployed now! (it came out of the blue or else I wouldn't have invested in a lengthy layaway of any kind.)

Besides I waited 6+ months for my unoa... I can wait 3 or 4 for moment and raph

    6. So sorry to hear about your sudden unemployment, Kittywolf13!
I hope you can find a better job soon!;)

Thanks for the tip Logodae, all I need is samples! Hope is revived!

    7. I looked at those powders from the link Logodae gave and those are very good prices. I am not familiar with that brand though. The ones I bought were called Pearlex and that is the brand name. We have a store here that sells the Pearlex in a small 3 gram size for $2.79. I thought it was more so $2.79 isn't bad because I was able to actually go there and choose the colours myself. The selection was great. The sample size of that other brand said 1 teaspoon so not sure how much that is but the 3 gram size is not big. 1 teaspoon would go a long way if you aren't doing a huge area. The website for those sampler sizes offered different options for ordering as well.

    8. you know, if you're having so many problems figuring out what to do with her - why not leave her blank?

i'm debating that route myself, actually, with my moment... the more i do the marbling, the less i'm enjoying him... it's an odd feeling to be honest. i'm thinking i might strip him down completely and just do some subtle blushing to enhance his sculpting with a warm grey or soft brown...

    9. It's always possible that you're feeling some artistic burnout, darkmothflame (although there's certainly nothing wrong with these sculpts completely blank...they're magnificent!) I know when I was working on my Bohemia Rose, about half way through the process I was seriously fighting the urge to fling petals against the walls! So I just walked away from it for a few days until I came back to my senses. As you can see, no petals were harmed in the making of this doll.

    10. Maybe mine will stay blank then... I dunno. Just wish I had a safe place to display her.

    11. actually... i have walked away from him multiple times :sweat

and each time i come back to him, i look at him and think "aphelion - you looked better blank" - but at the same time i'd hate to waste all that time i already put into his head.... maybe i'll do him with patches.... if i leave his head as is, and just do part of the petals on one arm and across part of his chest and one leg i might be happier than if he had the veining across all of his body....

    12. I'm seriously considering leaving mine blank with just a subtle face up. It's due to time, expense, and I'm used to seeing him blank, and I'm not sure if I can do a good enough job to be happy with it. Better off to leave him blank! He can be my ghost orchid!

    13. darkmothflame and kurogane, I must say that those are both wonderfully creative and beautiful concepts. Wow, the creativity of owners here is just amazing!:o A less is more approach wrapped around such beautifully artistic ideas...truly impressive!:)

    14. Kittwolf13 - I feel better that I'm not the only one still waiting with baited breath for Moment c: Though my Anson is getting a little lonely haha!
I had a /bad/ experience with a dealer once and now i've gone all paranoid about any doll orders.

    15. Darkmothflame, I love your Aphelion marbled. Ofcourse he will look beautiful too when he would be wiped clean, he is a beautiful sculpt and you definately should do what you want with him, but I for one will miss seeing him marbled.

I think part of the creative process can be the stage where you are looking so long and so hard at what you are working on that you loose the ability to see in it what you saw before. It's hard, especially as being very critical is important for your work reaching the quality you are aiming for, but at the same time it's really hard being very critical while keeping the vision intact and without ever spiralling into serious doubt about your own work. You need that doubt but it can be a killer nonetheless, and it's an art in itself trying to assess when you think it is warranted and when it's not. I wish you a lot of luck thinking this over.

    16. Acidreign... if i may ask who did you order from? I ordered from MOC and since my anson i have ordered 2 more times. i really love them. they are quick and simple and very understanding. i havent had a problem yet. :)

    17. I ordered Anson from DDE and Moment from MOC (don't ask me why, I guess I just liked the website layout a bit better xD) MOC are wonderful, I totally agree!

    18. well, i intend on keeping him marbled, just not all over.

heh, i'm waiting on my anson from mint on card, but i have her on six month layaway.... but i can't wait for her to come!

    19. I missed out on them because I couldn't afford to get one before they were discontinued, but after seeing a Moment for sale on the MP I had a renewed desire to try to find a way to acquire him. Luckily, I managed to find one and just have to wait until the Easter holidays are over for him to be shipped! I'm so excited!

I've been stalking this thread for ages to see what other people are doing with theirs! I'm not really sure what I want to do yet but I have a few ideas I'm considering. :)

    20. Congrats andarto! I'm waiting for moment but he's on layaway. I really need to pull miss Anson out again and see about at least changing eyes or something. Lol
