Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. DollZone Moment and Anson discussion part 1

Oct 14, 2011

    1. Wow, Skogstoka! Your Moment is incredible! Love the colors and the texture of how you painted him!

    2. Skogstoka - you might not like him very much, but I do. But then - we see a 'whole picture' - not any of the little imperfections. I love his colours - and I like the overal impression that he makes, like a plant nimf rising from a swamp or something.

His face makes me want to buy the Moment-Ji so badly!

By the way, would the Moment-Ji belong in this thread or the normal DZ msd thread?

    3. Holy cow, am I glad I checked in today!
PoeticSoul, Bohemia has such a nice style ;) very pretty!

Skogstoka, oh my goodness, he looks amazing! The green is absolutely beautiful. I'm very interested in what technique you used to paint him! Are you willing to share? :D

My Moment (Trewyn) is still nude, lolz. And I'm starting to get unhappy about his painting. It's too pink and flat. So I'm hoping I can re-do most of his head. Mostly the petals and headcap though. I'm hoping I can leave the actual face alone.

    4. I love how he looks like a cross between moss and marble. (you know that dark green marble??) very cool! almost lizard like too! :D

    5. skogstoka - i know exactly how you feel! i nearly had my moment completely covered in marble and found i wasn't happy with him at all.... but now i'm loving the idea of an uneven pattern on him and hope to finish him up soon after i move next week.

all that being said - your moment is GORGEOUS! that green is stunning on him, and i love the patterning in the blushing - could i ask how it was done?

    6. Skogstoka, your Moment is so amazing! He looks so earthy and mossy, and I can see a hundred stories in him. I love what you've done because it makes me instantly want to know more about him.

darkmothflame, I really love this new idea of yours and can't wait to see him once you're done.

I have to admit I get so excited about all the ideas people have for these dolls. I'm fascinated by the different takes on them people are inspired to. They truly are unique for the wonderous ideas they bring forth...such incredible artistic canvases.

    7. Thank you everyone for all your kind words! ._. :aheartbea"

Of course I can share the technique, but I can't really recommend it, It's not good enough.

I have been spraying him with MSC, and then I mixed really thick water color that I spread over the leafs, it will become like little beads / drops so I take an big and dry mohair pencil and dabs it around until the paint drys. I repeat it until the surface is even. Then an thick layer of MSC. And Unfortunately, this seems to be a problem, the MSC dosn't hold the color so I have to use acrylic medium, just an thin layer, and then more water color in an blacker tone ... more MSC and then acrylic medium again ... this technique is anoying and makes me angry, don't recommad it as I said before.
He's leafs has made me so sad and angry so many times because of the the paint not sticking with the MSC.

I'm not sure about he's background story. he's name is Mimer. And Mimer is an name from nordic mytology, he watched the well of Mimer by the roots of the world tree Yggdrasils. The name stuck in my head before I even know who Mimer was. ^^

    8. Skogstoka - I'm so sorry to hear it was such a frustrating process for you. :( The end look really is amazing and beautiful, but I imagine it's harder to be happy when things didn't go according to plan.

    9. He's looking gorgeous! You say this is the 'underwork' -- what else are you planning to add?

    10. i honestly thought he was sponge painted. :)

    11. PoeticSoul Your flower child looks so beautiful. I realy love the detailing you did. *u* Amazing embroidery!

Skogstoka Seeing your Mimer, I realized that Anson/Moment can pull off being bivalves! It would be great to be able to stick a subtle rainbowy material on the underside while having a textured look on the outside. (Oh wow! Logodae thought of that concept too.)
Even though this is just the underpainting, he is already stunning! He surely is an inspirational piece.

    12. Thank you, I know thats true, and I have spared you from all the depressing re-painting stories x) He have costed me alot of MSC. Im glad you say swamp! I'm really in to trolls and nordic folklore and I want som forest/dirt/svamp feeling. ^^
Don't know if it's okay to link this, here, but I want him to resamble my art a bit like this : http://svampkungen.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d307fnq

Of course, I added an description in an earlier post. ^^
I think I might have an idea of how you feel, it's an overwhelming job, I really really wish I had an airbrush for this kind of things. I would love to see your Trewyn! =)

I really love what you have done with your Moment, I actually love this doll blank so the idea of an marbeled statue is so awesome! ^^I guess one need some time to let all the hard work sink in.

I'm so happy you like him! As said befor, he hase more work before I'm happy, buy I guess the green is an good start. I added an description in an erlier post. ^^

Thank you!! <3 Seeing your pretty Anson maks me a little ashamed of my Mimer, you have putt so much effort in to her and she is stunning. I have an vision of him with white flowers or white patterns all over him. I started do make som and I used acrylics, bad idea. >< so I will try again with someting else.
I want him to have some sort of nordic folklore feeling a bit dirty and dark mabye ^^' Hehe ...

I'm actually surprised that the MSC couldent hold the water color, I have tried so many things and still it just comes right of whitout the acrylic medium.
Im happy you like it, I guess I will to when I have put it behind me. x)
Feels mutch better after sharing him to! <3

      Thank you ^^
I was thinking of some white patterns or some white flowers, I have'nt decided yet. and the inside of the petals needs to be painted, I had an idea that I won't stick with.
I guess sponge would had worked out just fine to! ^^

Thats an really cool idea, I like it, and bivalves are realy beautiful to <3 and some pearls maybe? ^^

Thank you! I'm actually feeling a bit happier with him after sharing him here, maybe I will continue painting him soon. ^^

    13. I'm really itching to go all creative on my Moment! All these beautiful pictures!! gyahh!

    14. OKAY SO LIKE.

      GUYS.

Guess who got her grubby little mitts on a Moment despite juuuust missing out on the ordering period?

THIS GIRL. I adopted Kurogane's boy (and now owe her my first born child or soul, or something). He's going to be blushed like Deadly Nightshade, I think...

    15. Congratulations! That's awesome! I look forward to seeing him blushed! :D

    16. Way to go Nasa! I can't wait to see how you interpret him. It's always so exciting to see what creativity develops with each one of these very unique dolls.:)

    17. guess what!

i finally finished my boy's blushing ^^ i did go with just the partial spots and i'm very happy with it - but sadly pictures aren't the best....

i still need to finish his feather collar, but i need end fasteners first.

and a (nearly) full body shot - sorry, it's kinda washed out :sweat
      http://4oni.com/angelsdream/aphelcom-2.jpg

i'm hoping that i'll have time in the next couple of days to do a proper photoshoot to really show off his blushing because i'm happy with how it came out. i will admit, i was starting to fall out of love with him and think maybe i had made a mistake in ordering him and my incoming anson hybrid, but once i finished his blushing, i was once again in awe of his splendor..... aside from his one flaw. can you see it? yep, that's right - his head has already yellowed compared to the body! (i suspect it's the sealer because of the amount of time that past between me doing his head and his body) i think, though, that once he has his collar, the difference won't be noticeable anymore.

    18. darkmothflame: I love him! o: He look like marble!

    19. Wow, he came out incredible! You did a fantastic job painting him! I don't think the yellowing is noticeable in the pic (and marble varies in color anyways, so you can really get away with it here...) I can't wait to see the gallery shoot :D

    20. Your flowers are all so lovely. I wish I had ordered mine sooner. This wait is almost as bad as soom. I'm sadly not as excited about my incoming flower girl as I had been. At least I know if she doesnt stay there are plenty of people who would snap her up.
