DollZone Moment and Anson discussion part 1

Congrats on all the incoming dolls for everyone! And darkmothflame, I've always been intrigued by your decopage idea of japanese papers. I truly think that is something that could be absolutely amazing and can't wait to see. Oh the ideas everyone has come up with for these sculpts! I've been in creativity heaven just hearing about them all!

 

poeticsoul, i think your girl helped a lot of people expand their horizons with what these dolls could be. i know it did for me ^^

 

I bought some stands awhile back... i should put Anson up on display in my empty room (im currently remodeling so theres practically nothing in there) and with Moment when he arrives. Hmmm...

 

My Moment will be chilling in his box by my doll shelf. :P I wanna keep him safe with lots of doll pillows!

 

i did that with Anson... as you can see i still havent even named her. but got fed up with her being "locked up" :/ must find something to do with them.

 

Actually, he's gonna be sitting up in it with the lid off. I'd feel too bad if I kept him in a closed box. XD;
My partner, who I got an Anson for, actually kept the name, I really like it! I names my Moment Yoon, though.

 

Speaking of stands, has anyone found a good nice looking stand for these dolls. My Anson will need a stand for sure so I want one that at least looks nice. I don't think they are the kind of doll that will look good sitting.

 

I got my stands from Mint on Card. I needed something fast and adjustable, they fit the bill perfectly! These are the ones I got. They fit both Anson and Moment.

I remember when I required that all my dolls fit in this cabinet. LOL!

I took some white foam shelf liner from the dollar tree and cut out circles with holes in the middle to put on the base so they have something for their feet to grip. Just in case.

I still haven't gotten my guys painted. Now that I have a ton of stuff done, I should have time to work on them and my Machina now.

 

I want some saddle stands... but for now i will settle on normal doll stands because i got them from a store going out of business for a buck and change. :P

 

Now I want a stand for my Moment. XD But I'm always too afraid of a doll falling off them. ; A ; Maybe it is best he just sits up in his box with lots of pretty dolly pillow.

@FunnyLori - I have several of those stands from MOC too. Best stands I've had! They are wonderfully sturdy. And your Moment and Anson look beautiful together Are you planning on painting them?

 

Thanks Funnylori. That stand is perfect and that type is hard to find. I will order them from Mint on Card. I have a few of my antique dolls with original outfits that need stands so I will order a few. I prefer these types of stands as they are easier on the fabrics. The ones around the waist rub on delicate fabrics. I have a couple of saddle stands. One was quite expensive with a bigger base so I feel very safe with it. I bought it about 4 years ago but haven't been able to find the same kind since. It was at a doll show in the U.S. I am from Canada and we are limited to what we have here although the internet has most everything.

 

Thanks Funnylori for the stand info! Can someone who has their dolls please tell me how far across the dolls measure at the bottom of the petal arms when the doll is standing relaxed? (hope that makes sense). I am trying to figure out how wide a space I need in my cabinet to stand them together or alone.
Still don't know how I am going to decorate their beautiful petals and faces. The longer I wait for them the more ideas have and the more confused I get!

 

well apparently dollzone decided for me what my anson should look like

i got an email from mint on card that dollzone accidentally gave my girl a face up and full body blushing - i accepted her as is because i was afraid to delay the dolls any longer, but i'm going to have to possibly rethink my entire plans as i wanted my moon/anson to be blue.... i just hope she's in white skin at least ><;;;;

 

Oh Bummer darkmothflame. I am worried the same thing might happen here. I just noticed to day on my invoice from DDE that Anson is listed with a face up even though I didn't pay for one. Moment is listed no face up. I would do the same at this point and just get my girl home!
Maybe someone will be willing to trade with you, although the cost and risk of breakage in shipping might make that difficult.

Also consider that the head petals go back away, so they need some square footage to stand. Mine are currently disassembled for painting, but the shelf they comfortably rest on is 13.5 inches deep by 23.5 inches wide and they have 24 inches of height. It is in the picture a few posts above, to give you an idea of space. You can see how they pretty much fill that area.

 

when did you order Darkmoth? its good to hear they've received some dolls.... maybe my moment will come home soonish?

 

i ordered mid january, but my girl hasn't shipped yet from dollzone to mint on card. dollzone contacted them about the mistake, and then they contacted me. but i'm betting that order will be shipping soon.

i'm thinking i *might* still be able to get my ideas to work... but i want to see what the blushing looks like in person...

 

Darkmothflame are you getting the blushing free? I hope so. At least you are getting petal arms, I am still waiting for my arms and so fed up with the whole matter right now. I ordered December 1 for heavens sake. They haven't asked for me to pay for the regular arms and hope they don't have the nerve to do so. If they do I will be contacting DZ direct instead of DDE. I just would love to ask them how they could make such a stupid mistake. Good thing it is summer and not fall when I would want to be painting. She does look lovely all white and naked. Lovely doll, regular arms and all.

 

yeah, i'm not being charged for the face up or blushing. and they gave me the option to not take her, but i was afraid if i pushed for a blank one, it would delay not just my order, but others as well and i didn't think that would be fair

i've kinda been wondering of putting the moon head on the renata body, but it's going to have to wait until i have them all here.... but i was realizing i could still do the decoupage over the body blushing - i had found a very lovely white paper. i just really wanted to go minimalist with her.

i guess i should have been prepared, though - after all, aphelion decided he didn't want to be marbled all over and massively changed my plans too
