DollZone Moment and Anson discussion part 1

Oct 14, 2011

    1. So i finally had time to sit down and make something a bit creative... I made a "greenhouse" for my Anson and Moment. Moment is still in pieces so for now, Anson is claiming her "Vase." Let me know what you guys think. i didnt have a lot of room to display them... originally i wanted them standing... but they didnt fit, because their petals are so tall... so i'll settle for them sitting with their feet in the vases like they are sucking up nutrients from the ground inside.

    2. Hi. I'm looking for some help regarding eye size for Anson. She has such tiny eyes, I'm curious as to what is going to show up on her: is the color even noticeable? I read she takes 14mm, but that 14mm has gaps. And that 16mm fits, but the iris takes up a lot of the open eye area. I'm wondering what other owners prefer for Anson. Any pictures would be appreciated.

    3. I have been trying to decide on the eyes as well. I am not sure if I am crazy about her peach coloured eyes but I don't want to spend a lot of money on more glass eyes because very little shows. I have some acrylic eyes which I am not crazy about but like the colour so may try them because of the fact little shows. I will probably leave what is in her eyes but won't know until after she is painted. If I was brave I would try and open them up a very little but I think I will leave well enough alone. I would die if I wrecked her. We have to take out the eyes when we paint them so we can fool around then with whatever eyes we have on hand.

    4. I'm not sure what my girl will wear yet, but here she is with 12mm sparkly acrylic on our left, and 14mm soft silicone Soom eye on our right.
The 12 does gap, but it's not noticeable when viewing from straight on. (The 14 is gapping only because I can't get the kneaded eraser to stick to the resin very well tonight.)

I'll likely end up with 12mm ovals.

    5. Hm, my 14mm eyes gapped rather a lot when I was doing tests (they were all glass, round). So I ended up ordering 16's for them. I had a pair of 16mm acrylics that fit well, so I went off of that. Just waiting for them to ship. ^_^

    6. I have a pair of 14mm acrylics in Mori atm and they fit well enough - Personally I feel like I should've gone with 12mm but I can live with these.

Then again, depending on the eye type you can fit ANY size in there... Mori was wearing an 18mm pair of blind green eyes because, well, green. Filled up his head like nobody's business but at least you couldn't tell if they got knocked out of alignment...!

    7. Finally got around to unboxing my moment. :) He's quite lovely and i'm enjoying him... turns out hes in perfect shape but missing his ear petals. i sent an email to MOC even though im not expecting much... its alright with me i guess.

Finally got around to in boxing moment! by kittywolf13, on Flickr

If you click on the pic you can see him sitting in his vase next to anson. :)

    8. Kitty wolf, there is no way you should be not getting those last petals. You did not receive a whole doll that YOU PAID FOR. They will have to send you those last parts and I am sure they will. I think they just said all that because maybe too many people complained about trivial things. Good luck and let us know.

    9. Yes, I'd certainly ask for them since they are so obviously missing...but is it just me or does Moment look even more masculine without them? Hmmmm...he sure is handsome!

Yeah,:sweat I think we could pretty much understand from the start why Dollzone suspended sales on these so soon. The difficulties in sculpting something so complicated and delicate must have been a nightmare from the very beginning. I think each and every one of us who obtained one of these works of art were fortunate in the extreme (in my humble opinion.)

    10. I already contacted MOC and will wait for them. honestly if i cant get them then its no big deal to me... i'm happy that all his major parts are there and in tact. :)

Yup waiting to hear from MOC... they dont answer their emails on the weekend.

      He does! :P

    11. Mori made a friend:

No, you can't be a rose dude. I'd have to change your name.

    12. Good news! I found the ear petals! MOC responded to me that none were missing parts and how they packed it. So I managed to find them before I tossed the box! I also found Anson's which I had put aside somewhere. So now it's time to experiment with putty or something to keep them from falling out so easily.

    13. Kittywolf, I had a feeling that maybe you had missed them in the box. Glad you found them and don't have the worry of waiting for them. My Anson ones don't stay in too well but I don't want to glue them in because I think they could get broken. They sometimes get in the way of the arms and shoulders so maybe that is why they did them this way. You would not want to not have the petals in because then the magnet shows, otherwise it looks OK.

    14. So I finally got my replacement petal and it turns out they just gave me the largest petal (the one that was broken) not a whole new arm like I had thought. so no really useful extras but the good news is she is finally perfect now! And I have no more reasons to delay her blushing, so I better get to it!

    15. Did anyone else notice that Moments left eye opening is smaller then his right? When I finally can paint him I may also open up that eye a bit.

    16. Yeah, it's a slightly different shape. Hadn't planned to adjust it, but I may if it starts bugging me. Probably won't though, because I barely have time to look at my own dolls!

    17. man, i spend most of my weekend working on my own sculpted dolls and this thread just explodes!

i haven't had a chance to work on the dress pattern for my girl, but i did sketch out what i want and found that i have some pattern pieces already that will work as slopers that i can modify for her dress.

i simply adore the idea of the vases for them to rest their weary feet in! mine are just kinda... there on my dresser :sweat - the house we're renting is a bit small to have extravagant displays for our dolls (between my roommate and i, we have nearly 100 dolls... )

i didn't notice moment's eyes being different sizes until it was pointed out.... i guess i'm just so used to seeing different eyes because most dolls (and people) have them ^^

i'm still hoping dollzone will do more in this vein - even if they're limiteds.

um, if i missed anything else, i apologize! this thread goes quiet for so long, and then explodes. it's fun to watch.

    18. Yeah but i didnt know what i was looking for so im glad they responded on the weekend instead of today! When i meant attaching it i meant using something like eye putty or sticky tack to attach the ear petals, not glue. I have a soom beyla and her horn is sticky tacked in, and it stays in very well! so i figure i can do the same thing with their ears.

Yeah i noticed.... but a lot of dolls like that. (my rapheal has them too.)

Yeah they didnt fit standing on that dresser so i had to get creative. i didnt want them just sitting in chairs either. LOL

    19. *_* So I'm about 2/3 of the way through blushing my Anson, and I just have to say Wow! I've never used anywhere near this amount of supplies on one doll. You guys really weren't kidding when you said buy an extra can of sealer. Make sure you have plenty of the pastel colors you want, too! It's unreal the amount of surface area on those head petals. What's really bad is that my girl is only going to use the top one of her arm petals, so I haven't even touched the lower ones yet. Hats off to all of you who've managed to complete your dolls!

    20. Just thought I would share some photos of my Mimer since we took an trip to the forest some day ago. ^^
