DollZone Moment and Anson discussion part 1

Mimer is absolutely fantastic. I am jealous to the ears!

My Anson just arrived. she's a very peculiar colour for me. Not bad, just...different. Deciding if I like her or not, currently, or if I should look into other skintones! Either way, Rook is happy to inspect the new goods. Perhaps he'd prefer a Moment? Or one of each?

aernath: She's normal yellow. She looks nice and compliments Rook's tone very nicely, but the skin tone was not my first choice (my third, lol). It's a really orange colour. Kind of like oooolllld Luts NS.



I actually took her to a dollmeet where PrinceDuCiel has her Anson. The DZ white is incredible. I begged a friend until he took a photo of both the girls on the couch. Like a Tale of Two Sisters, ha ha ha.

 

dang - everyone's flowers are looking amazing! i managed to plot out the pattern pieces for dendrobium's dress, but i haven't had a chance to make it (or finish aphelion's choker) due to some unexpected house repairs eating up my free time.... (we're renting a 100 year old house and while it's got a lot of character, it also needs some TLC so my doll projects have been put on hold these last couple of weeks)

but i'm hoping to also put together a lightbox eventually so i can take better pictures of my dolls - i'm so jealous of the people who have lovely backgrounds available for their flowers! i haven't been able to figure out what sort of settings mine would live in.... perhaps because i haven't had a chance yet to see them completely finished.

 

Get some pictures outside while the weather is good. That is what I will do when mine is finished. I also like those backgrounds people buy for taking pictures. I need to get a couple of those. There are so many to choose from. Once summer is over I can work on my poor lonely girl but until then I will enjoy the summer and look at her in her white splendor. I love the white colour, it is so beautiful so I have decided to not blush her too much. I normally love a very colourful faceup, but I think this girl will be very pale. I think I will do pink tones but not sure. When we first found about these doll, people were talkng about those sparkly chalk paints in the little containers (can't remember the name now and they are downstairs) so I bought a bunch of colours. When I go to do it I will have to get them out and see what I want to do. They had such pretty colours so I bought lots and will probably never use them all up in my lifetime. I just wanted the variety and be able to choose when I wanted to do her. I usually do this late at night and then I need my supplies. I was able to buy them at a craft/art store in in the city and not have to order. I got to see the colours in person which was nice.

 

I received a pair of replacement arm petals from Dollzone last week! I've been waiting since I got my Anson, so it wasn't a quick ship but I wasn't too worried! I had expect just one...and unpainted...but they sent me one for each side and painted them for me. Buuut they are painted pink and since I had them paint Anson blue they won't really work for a unified look, but I've been wondering if it would be neat too have the pink top petals with the blue underneath. What do you guys think?
I just had too pay for shipping so I'm not complaining! I'm definitely planning on ordering from Dollzone again, despite the wait(s)!

I love the body! Does anyone know if it will work with the older heads like Feilian or Annie?

 

well, i just put my fenyo's head on anson's body and it looks amazing (to the point where i'm going to merge the two dolls permanently) - so dendrobium has a new head (and the default face up on fenyo matches the pink blushing on the petals *perfectly*) - i'll try to get a picture tomorrow.

i think i was getting rather overwhelmed/intimidated by anson's default flower head - it's gorgeous, but too much for me i think.....

 

So you mean you have the body with petal arms with a normal head on and then the flower head on a normal armed body?

I still have my human arms on my Anson as that is how she came if you remember. I kind of like it that way for now and when I paint her I will do a mani/pedi on her but also paint the petal arms for the future. One day I will get bored and then change those arms. I want to make sure I paint the arms when I do the head or I may forget what colours I did on the petal head. Posing her and dress her will be so much easier with normal arms. Those petal arms are huge.

 

Everyone's flowers (or not dependent on plans ^_~) seem to be coming right along! ^_^

I got the order in with eyes for my two, so now I really just need to get to work on them. Hehe.

Also, I think that the pink and blue would be nice together. Maybe with a hit of added purple blushing at the tips of the pink petals?

 

i just swapped heads ^^ so it's like dear little dendrobium got pruned

sorry it took an extra day to take pictures (trip to the vet took longer than expected yesterday.... sometimes it feels like i live at the vet, but with 13 animals it's no surprise....)

but maybe it's just me, but she look so much happier now.....

um, oh, and nudity alert (though does that go without saying with these dolls? ) - i do still plan on making the victorian bustle dress for her.

anson's head was just too.... impressive, it scared me. i find that she also fits better next to aphelion. he was overshadowed before because he has such a quiet personality, and now dendrobium has a softer personality too. of course now i'm not sure if my girl belongs in this thread

i'm getting the mock up of her dress cut out and was hoping to get it sewn up and finally finish aphelion's collar, but now i seem to have misplaced it ><* so many doll projects, so little time....

 

Oh, I most definitely think she belongs here! It's all about the petals after all...so she's still a planthros. And these dolls were so unexpectedly retired, it's not like this thread will ever be innundated or overcrowded. There just isn't enough of them for that. I would love to think that we can look forward to such mixes in the future...really stretching the boundaries and creativity of these dolls. Your combination is amazing.

I agree she belongs here and I can't wait to see her and aphelion's completed outfits. I still haven't even begun to work on my two. I am working two jobs for the next 8 weeks so dolly time is very scarce. At least I can live vicariously through this thread, until I can start customizing my pair.

it's rather strange - fenyo is my grail doll but some how i wasn't fully happy with her on the human body (i tend to prefer strange beings) so putting her on the flower body was a stroke of luck as it was instant bonding.

but i have to say - i REALLY hope that dollzone will do other flower limiteds (hmm... haven't i said that before? ) and maybe then the thread won't seem so empty? i wonder if they would take it alright if i wrote to them asking if they might do more like moment and anson.....

 

I think it might be awhile before they do this type of doll again as it was a lot of work and then the backup in the end. I think they need to take a deep breath before starting something like this again. That being said, i bet they make some kind of flower doll again. They seem to like different styles of dolls. I have the little flower doll that was a free giveaway and she is very similar to the big one but just smaller and not quite so fancy. The must have had an idea what they were getting into. Good thing they didn't do it in the larger size. That would weigh a ton and be very awkward packing.
