1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

DollZone Moment and Anson discussion part 1

Oct 14, 2011

    1. oh, i wasn't expecting anything anytime soon! if i remember right, they kinda "debuted" these dolls a year or two before as an art piece sculpture at a show. but i wonder whether or not they realize how much people love these unique dolls.

(i do wonder if the shipping troubles is why almost no one carries the fairy versions of una or jeremy.... )

    2. Joining the thread, as my Anson arrived yesterday! I bought her second-hand from the lovely Redastor. It was a total impulse purchase, but to see an Anson for sale in my country was too good to pass up ^^

I'm planning on painting her like a Calla lily with pastels and airbrushing, once I get an airbrush of my own.

In the meantime... NONE of my 12mm, 14mm or 16mm eyes (glass, acrylic or silicone) really fit her very well D: 16mm in silicone definitely seems to be the closest size though.

Do others have troubles with her standing? She's quite kicky at the moment, and her arms and head are so heavy that her knees just buckle under the weight, even with a doll stand. I'm going to hot glue suede her of course, but I was wondering if others have this issue as well - or if I'm just Doing It Wrong(tm).

    3. My Moment was quite kicky until I sueded him. The knees are not very well engineered for a doll that heavy, so it's to be expected.
I am using 17mm Masterpiece silicone eyes. That type of eye works best for shallow eye wells with narrow eyes.

A dear friend was kind enough to trust me with her airbrush and our summer is finally here so I've been coating all of the petal parts and getting ready to paint! :D Don't have much free time though, so I expect it will end up being my usual hack job. I just don't have any space in which to leave this doll unassembled. He takes up three times as much room!

    4. Thanks for the recommendation St James - I think I'll definitely have to get a pair, because the 16mm Soom ones sit a bit too far back in the eyewell even though they're only single dome.

I sueded her arms and legs (and wired her legs, not sure if I used the right kind of wire though) and she can stand much better now. I took her out to a local flower festival yesterday for a few pictures.

There are more pics here :)

    5. She looks great with the rest of those flowers.

    6. Like him? I love him! I've just discovered this thread and am so wishing I'd gotten into this back when these were more readily available! (OTOH...the number I'd have wanted would have put me in the poor house! :D) I'm something of a garden nutcase, and these just appeal to the landscaper in me.

They're all beautiful (I'm working my way slowly backward in time) but this image is downright stunning.

    7. Well...call me a newbie with a too-bright monitor, but I certainly saw no flaw. This is beautiful and the marbling effect extremely well-done. I'm hoping as I work my way back that you explain how you did it.

editing instead of adding another post, lest I take up a whole page. This is just too amazing a thread!

Glad to know about the magnets. Bohemia Rose is gorgeous. Are you making all her clothing? Are there full-length pics posted? (This site is so huge finding anything is...interesting! :D)

    8. thank you vindalootoo ^^ of course i *still* haven't finished his collar.... or my girl dendrobium's dress :doh

lets just say life was not very kind to me all at once and it took quite awhile to get back on my feet! (in fact i'm still not quite back on track, but almost there and hope to pick up various dolly projects i had to kick to the side)

    9. Spectacular, darkmothflame!:D I love your partially-stone boy, especially the way his blank petals create a fascinating asymmetry that hints of a equally fascinating and mysterious backstory.

    10. lol, i'm still figuring out their story.... but what i have figured out is that they were found objects turned into dolls and given souls by corpselight (my sard) as a gift for the woman he loves (my mod shiwoo hybrid). so i want to keep some of the organic nature of them - aphelion being marble and ephemeris is from a vintage lace choker.

    11. Ooh, they look great together! ^__^
I love how his petals surround her.

    12. I am cleaning this thread of old chat. If you see any important information posts.
Please Pm and I will add to first page FAQ at top of thread.

      Thanks!

    13. So what the heck is going on here. I thought everyone was enjoying this place, then it said there was a thread 2, and now that is gone. I haven't finished dressing and painting my doll, and I am sure others haven't so what are we to do?

Are we just to continue as normal or not?

    14. Hi Shashy,

Sorry for the confusion. Please continue posting here.

If you have any concerns please Pm as I can't be in every thread to moderate.

    16. poeticsoul - as beautiful as always! i have to admit, i've been neglecting my dolls a bit lately as i move from one real life problem to the next.... but i keep meaning to get the dress finished for my girl! but i have a question for you (or any one else making clothes for these dolls) - have any advice on sleeves? i'm trying to work on a high necked victorian inspired piece for my girl, and i was going to have it without a back, but i'm also interested in making a couple of different style tops/jackets.

so do you just make the armholes like normal and then unstring the arms when you dress them? though i also wondered about doing buttons along the shoulders as another option.....

    17. I simply won't undo her arm pieces just to dress her, because I like to change her outfits often and I figure that's too much of a hassle for me and the doll.:sweat If you notice, she only wears sleeveless dresses...and the trick I've found is to leave the shoulder pieces unattached at the back and then sew snaps for fastening. If I was really set on doing some sort of sleeve treatment on a dress, I would make the sleeve detachable and open at the bottom seam...and then either snap it, tie it, or velcro it onto the dress, closing the bottom seam in a similar fashion. For a jacket, I would leave the bottom sleeve seam open as well as the jacket body's side seams, and then close those with thin velcro strips. Sure, it would be more work to make, but I figure Bohemia Rose is my "special doll" so it's worth it to me.:)

    18. Thank you PoeticSoul for sharing those great tips. I hadn't thought out the details of making her clothes other than just tacking them on. Your snap and velcro ideas will make a much more professional finish. I love Bohemia Rose's new gown (of course I adore antique lace).

    19. oh, i wasn't thinking of actual sleeves on the jackets (at least not at first, but your suggestion has put temptation into my mind! ) although now i'm also wondering about decorative seams (such as lacings of buttons) so that i wouldn't necessarily have to hide it....

of course i need to finish her first dress before i start planning more!
