I would love to take some pictures! I'll try to do them today or tomorrow)) But just not with my good camera cause it's with mym sister now while she's on vacation in another country))
Logodae, That's such a lovely photo. She looks so contemplative. It always amazes me how gorgeous this sculpt is absolutely blank...and I'm reminded of how astonishing and full of personality these planthros are even without a faceup. It's truly a testament to the original sculptor's artistic vision and skill. Those of us who are lucky enough to have one are quite fortunate indeed.
Thank you~! I've thought about blushing her, but I'm not sure I could do the sculpt justice that way. And she's so lovely blank.
Logodae : seems we all had the same problem with blank Anson & Moment :p I also have the magnet ear issue >_< I wonder if stronger magnets could do the job ? Here is another pic of my Anson
My ear magnets stay on but if they get knocked fairly hard they come off. Because they are by their shoulders and if you move the head they touch I think they may have done this as a precaution so they don't break. That is the only reason I can think of. I would be upset if a piece broke off. I have painted mine and dressed her but have not shown her. I really need to get my act together and do that. It is just so time consuming on how we have to post here by posting first on Flickr. I wonder why they did it that way. I just keep putting it off. She has the real arms, not petal arms and although I have the petal arms I have not blushed them. The head and body took forever. I did a manicure and pedicure I really like.
I've always assumed the ears were separate so that they could actually get the head out of the mold. Hehe.
I don't know if you ever looked inside Dollzone Jeremy's head, but he has same kind of weird winged "ears" like Anson and Moment (and Una) but his are secured with elastic strings inside his head (his ears are hollowed). I wonder why Dollzone used magnets for Anson and Moment instead of strings ? Maybe the breaking thing is part of the answer but I think that cost may be the main reason...
Lorelei: Your Anson is lovely. Jeremy is larger, so maybe that has something to do with it? I do think the primary reason they're separate is for (relative!) ease of mold-making.
Thanks Logodae and Lorelei_D for the pictures of beautiful dolls! They are truly lovely creatures!)) About the ears: my Moment, Veilchen, had the magnets changed for the bigger and much stronger ones. The thing is, the space for them had to be widened as well. Lucky for me, a real professional did it. I myself would never do that since you could easily damage the doll in the process. But now the ears stay put!)) Also, we added two pairs of magnets inside the head and the headback so now I don't have any problems with something falling off. Maybe this can help you))
Thank you Logodae and Ardyse I think I'll enlarge the magnets holes of my Anson if needed, and get new stronger magnets because it bugs me off a lot when I'm carrying the doll out.
Does anyone know the name the sculptor of Moment and Anson? Presumably it would be the same sculptor as the piece that was displayed at Hong Kong Dollism Plus 6 back in 2011, but I can find no reference to any DZ sculptors. It just seems weird not to know, since I generally know who created my dolls.
I was wondering, has anyone tried replacing an anson/moments legs with the legs of the new dollzone 1/4 body with the thigh joint? I was thinking about buying the new body and switching the legs, and I am wondering if it would be the same height and same amount of stability? I don't want to compromise her standing ability.
That's a beautiful photo, gaiboiozz. I'm very sorry I have no answer for the previous 2 questions. Hopefully someone will be able to answer them soon.
I, unfortunately, don't know the sculptor. I don't know any of their sculptors. I wonder if we could ask someone at Mint on Card if they know? (Come to think of it, I know very few of the sculptors of my dolls. I do know that my favorite Soom dolls were sculpted by Dimu and I hope to find him again one day! If anybody knows who he is working for now, please point him my way!) I believe the new legs should fit. I haven't tried them, but it seems like they should. I have a friend with a human Moment and I have a flower Moment. There is a meetup at her house this Saturday and she's pretty easy going. I bet there could be a comparison/restringing if she has the new legs. i will report back.
a11i. why would you want to change the legs? I have Anson and I like her legs. I do have the human arms though but that is only because she was sent incorrectly that way and her flower arms they eventually sent I haven't painted and put on her, partly because I was tired of painting after doing the head, partly because I love the human arms on her and partly because I am terrified of changing arms with restringing. I should paint those arms soon though before I forget what I did to the head. It took forever.
FunnyLori Definitely post some pictures and tell us how it goes if you get the chance! Shashy I was thinking about switching out the legs because of, like Lady Ravenswood said, the extra joints have potential for poses like knees to chest or leg crossing, which, because the joints won't be blocked by clothing, (these dolls really like to be nude, lol) I could probably utilize a lot. :P
