DollZone Moment and Anson discussion part 1

Oct 14, 2011

    1. Fantastic, darkmothflame! Just stunning! I have to admit when you first told us about your concept I couldn't see it, but he really looks amazing!

    2. darkmothflame, that is awesome work! Your aphelion's head looks exactly like marble! I'm so excited about one day seeing him completed...he's an amazing work of art already!:)

    3. darkmothflame Wow- he came out fantastic! And now you have his pretty head to look at to encourage you to tackle his body! :D I can't wait to see him finished.

    4. Joining in the squee. X3 Aphelion really does look fantastic! I love the marbling effect.

    5. thanks - it's been rather therapeutic to work on him. i know i could honestly just stare at him all day long....

i'm also excited about all the other people who managed to get moment or anson (or both) - i'm hoping it'll show dollzone how much people love the unusual sculpts and they'll keep doing them (even if they end up as limiteds)

    6. Oh wow! He's just stunning!! It makes me want to pull out all the project dolls and work on them. I need more hours in a day. Lol.

    7. *picks up law from the floor*

Amazing, simply amazing. He;s going to be one wicked fellow.

Meanwhile, my Moment is in Germany, which is only one country over, so I'm hoping he comes Saturday. Tomorrow might be a stretch, but would be nice xD

    8. darkmothflame - your moment head is fantastic and I especially like how you did the darker crack effect on his one eye. It looks so natural. I know that is a lot of hours but if you want to do something well that is just what it takes, time. It looks so great from the back too. I am sure you were tempted to rush that part and just concentrate mostly on the face. I can't wait for my Anson to arrive. How much sealer did you just on just his head, a whole bottle?

    9. his head took about 3/4 a can of sealer. i actually started with his face and then worked on the ears and head cap. i'm not one hundred percent happy with how the head cap came out (the center of the flower is really deep in there and pastel collected there, making it darker than i wanted) but it's lovely as a whole so i'm not going to change it.

i strongly suggest if you're painting them yourself, get at least one more can of sealer than you think you'll need. they have a lot more surface area than you think!

    10. He's heeeere :D
Man, he;s a work of art. Took about an hour to unpack all his parts and I'm pretty sure the seller used about 5 rolls of toilet paper for him xD
I'm going to see how I'm going to string him. Not sure about using all the parts and considering giving some to his girlfriend (Minifee Marcia, who's a muse/nymph/fairy thingamabob). Time to play!

    11. Congratulations on his arrival Snow! You're right, they are works of art.:) I think it's a really interesting idea to divide up the parts...there certainly are plenty of petals to go around. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with these. Your dolls always have a wonderfully unique and magical look to them which I truly enjoy.

    12. Thanks Poetic, I'm sure I will have a ton of fun with him X_x
Here he is, with his lovey!

As you can see I gave her the arms, save for the large parts, because she's too short. They're going to be purple (her name is Ffion and it means foxglove, so I'm going to incorporate that into the painting).
I hope I can find some Minifee male arms for him (probably going for the event arms, especially the one with the claw hand) because they are half a cm longer and look a bit more manly than her arms xD
Not sure on his name or color scheme yet tho... But he needs himself some coverage ;)

    13. Snow, did you try putting the longest petal on him and then the girl arms? Maybe it would work like that?

    14. Yeah, I might try that later, but it would make the hands end at the knees, so it would make them a bit too long xD I'm still playing with it, although I like him less cluttered like this as well ^^ He's more easy to transport like this :B

    15. I don't know if you specifically just want MNF arms or are just looking for arms in general but DZ does sell arms for these guys separately in the parts section.

    16. I put hands instead of the last petal, pictures are in the Dollheart Ruby Red Meetup Gallery in meetups.

    17. Whatever makes you happy then snow! :) it was just a suggestion. I just think he's kind of unbalanced with all those head petals and nothing anywhere else. :3 but it's still awesome! I see he's kind of hippy too. I thought he'd be a little more slender in person. Guess not??

    18. Yeah, I'm aware of that, but I love me some Fairyland arms ;)
I don't really care for the Dollzone hands personally.

Anneke, I'll go look that up, I'm really curious ^^

Kitty, yeah he's quite hippy ^^ Personally I really like that, but I just like feminine dolls. Plus he reminds me of my partner *cough* :B
I think he will look more balanced with thicker arms and some lower body garment, although I don't find him that unbalanced, besides his head actually bobbing all over the place because of the weight xD

    19. vampireanneke thanks for the pictures! Are those the Dollzone hands? I love all the switching around that is being done with these dolls.
I am lurking here, hoping my BF ordered me one of these beauties. He was asking lots of questions about them the night before the ordering closed. When I asked why he was so interested he said it was too close to Valentines Day for me to know. Fingers crossed till then!!!

    20. Snow, yeah I don't mind the feminine boys either. :3 I just hope my Raphael looks good on that body since I qualified for the free head and put the same body as moments on layaway along with my moment. I just really like ansons so I'm assuming the boy body is just as nice. But Raphael has a funny face (which I find endearing) so I'm crossing my fingers it looks good aesthetically. :)

Lace princess, that would be so romantic and an awesome bouquet for valentines day! <3
