1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. DollZone Moment and Anson discussion part 1

Oct 14, 2011

    1. darkmothflame, I think that's an awesome idea...decopage! Having been working on my Anson and being very familiar now with her surface, I think it would work very well. An Anson/Renata hybrid sounds brilliant!:) Oh, and I wanted to mention, looking back over your photos of Moment, I really love the way that one darker marble vein goes down over his one eye...that's a particularly awesome touch of design work.;)

Thankfully my restock of MSC arrived today from Junkyspot (they're only one state away thank goodness.) My Bohemia Rose had already sucked up everything I had in reserve...all 2 1/2 cans of it!:o It's looking like it will take another half can at least or perhaps even a full can to finish the final coatings on her. So I was extra happy to see that package today.;) At first I was a little shocked by how much it was taking, but then I was like "Silly! What did you expect? All that decorated surface is like a dozen or more faceups!":sweat I'm going to be working up some clothing patterns on her body before I finally put her together, but with any luck I'll be posting photos sometime in the next few days.

    2. lol - so true! i've already used up just over a can on my boy and i haven't started the arms or legs or finished his torso - but i need to get more sealer before i can work more on him.

i think the biggest challenge for my girl's plans is finding the right paper - it's got to be light enough to blend into the resin, but strong enough to not dissolve/tear during application. luckily there's an art store in town that sells a ton of japanese papers and i'm hoping i'll be able to find something over the next few months that'll work for her.

    3. Snow, I love how your Moment turned out, especially the decoration on his body. I also really like how your MNF looks now, the petalarms look so natural on her, as if they belonged to her all along.
Darkmothflame, your Moment looks stunning, the realism of the marbling is amazing. I can imaging this taking hours and hours to do, but it does pay of. I also like the Japanese paper idea, if you're going to pursue that idea with the same dedication then I really can't wait to see it taking form, as no doubt it will look gorgeous!
PoeticSoul, I can't wait to see her!

    4. Darkmothflame -The Japanese paper idea is awesome! I have done something similar on a doll that I made as I did not want to paint on the flowers. I had some Origami paper (stacks of it, as I seem to collect it!) and some Washi paper. Washi paper is what is used to make paper dolls in Japan. It comes in amazing patterns and some have fabric like texture. I hope you can find the colors you are looking for!

    5. darkmothflame, I have used that treatment on other items before (not dolls...that's a very unique and fascinating idea!) And what I've done to protect the paper from disintegrating (and whatever pigments are on it from bleeding) is to shoot it first on both sides with a fine coat of MSC and let it dry before the application phase. Not trying to be a butt-insky, just trying to be helpful.:sweat

    6. oh, poeticsoul! you're not being a butt at all! that's really good information! i've never done any decorating with paper (though i love pieces i've seen) so any advice at all is appreciated ^^

washi is definitely the type of paper i have in mind - it's just going to be a matter of finding the right one ^^ luckily, i have plenty of time as she won't be here until june :sweat

    7. I brought Hibiscus to a meet yesterday and got her a better set of eyes. Seems 14mm shows better on photo and definitely lighter iris.

    8. O_O I ended up not going and now I' m sad i didn't get to meet you as well as HIbiscus. I hope you go to the next one!

I intend to open up my Anson's eyes when i get her so she has opened bright eyes ^___^.

    9. AreeElf, your Hibiscus is so pretty! Those eyes are lovely and look wonderful. Oddly enough, after 3 1/2 months of paying off her layaway, 3 1/2 weeks of working on her artwork and 3 1/2 cans of MSC, the eyes were the only easy part of pulling my Bohemia Rose together.:sweat Turns out I just happened to have an extra pair of inexpensive acrylic pink glitter eyes laying about that are absolutely perfect for her (and yes, they're 14mm.):)

    10. AreeElf~ Hibiscus is lovely with those eyes!
PoeticSoul~ Enough teasing! I am just dying to see pictures of your creation, She sounds fascinating :aheartbea

    11. Oops! I don't mean to be a tease.:sweat I just need to draft a pattern off her headless and limbless body first. I'd hoped to have that done this weekend but the little guy kept me playing Pokemon and Beyblades with him all weekend long, and I just didn't have the time to pull all my supplies out and do it. But he's in school tomorrow so I can work in earnest. (I did however finish all the final MSC coatings, so I have made progress.) I promise to have photos up by Wednesday night at the latest, guys!:)

    12. I was just kidding, of course our human families need to come before the resin ones. Your girl just sounds so special, I am really looking forward to seeing her.
Speaking of being impatient, Only two more days until Valentines Day. I still don't know if my Boyfriend ordered me one of these beauties or not. Fingers and toes crossed!

    13. I wonder if he was able to get hre to ship right away tho. Good luck on valentines day news!

    14. PoeticSoul: I can't wait for the unveiling of yours.

darkmothflame: Nice idea with the washi papers

Invie: Sorry you missed the meet. I luckily had a ride in and was able to bring her to the meetup. I hope you see yours with eyes opened in person sometime

    15. I ordered my Anson December 1 from DDE. It is seeming to be a long wait. Is anyone else getting tired of waiting. I am also starting to not be as interested in her now because it is so long. Seeing everyone else have fun painting theirs is tiring me out. I feel like I have been doing some of the work by just reading about it. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing what everyone is doing, it is giving me ideas and helps passing the time but I seem to have ordered a lot of dolls lately and all I am doing is waiting, not receiving. Very boring. I have noticed the list of people from December is just staying all black, not red writing. I want to see some red letters, meaning people are receiving their dolls.

    16. So it's only been two months? Is that a long time for DZ? Because that's lightning fast for anyone I've pre-ordered anything from, be it head or full doll.

    17. Hugs, Shashy! All my 2011 waits were 2.5 to 3 months, which is long for someone who's used to Rosen Lied, but not so bad for a Soomish wait. ;) I'm hopeful your darling will be home sooner rather than later! :D

      .hlp

    18. Thanks Heidipay. I am sure I will live waiting until she gets here but what with me ordering a lot of stuff these days and getting nothing yet, it is getting tiresome. You have been so lucky getting lots of dolls these days. I am so jealous. I guess I find it hard buying dolls and paying for them and then having to wait. I hate paying for something that is not here. What is the wait like for Soom? I have never ordered from them but was thinking of it the other day. Decided I didn't need to order and pay for another doll and still have nothing. I am not a patient person. Just ask my kids. I like immediate results.

    19. Hahah, Shashy, I feel you. XD I'm still getting used to this whole waiting thing. It's very different from any other hobby I've been in. I miss that instant gratification. My longest wait so far has been just shy of 6 months. I've just been trying to stagger my doll purchase so there's usually one on the way "soon" to keep me hanging on. (Not to mention the time the ol' bank account needs to recover.) I also try to pass the time by making plans and keeping busy. :3 Still, it can be hard to wait.

Of course, the current wait on Anson is all on me. >> Just two more layaway payments - they're scheduled at the end of the month, but I think I'll make the March payment as soon as my February credit card statement rolls over and MoC gets back from their trip, so I can get her a little faster!

    20. I have found that once the doll is in your hands, the wait time becomes trivial, and you go out and order another doll and ask yourself why did I do that again?:doh
