1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Domuya New Line of Doll: D1-44 (Dolls' Life Project)

Jun 3, 2009

    1. Well, I think the steampunk minded could make a cool Victorian explorer out of him! But yeah, the accessories rock.

    2. Is it just me or is there absolutely nothing at all fantasy about this one other that the fact that the helmet is stuck to his head?

Again, this one is very masculine and has human ears (2 things I don't do, boy dolls and human ears) so I'm pretty sure this one won't be staying sadly.

    3. I wish the helmet wasn't stuck to the head, so you could put a wig with the doll and the hat. (shrugs).

Last time Domuya sent out money requests for the payment of Seras, are they doing that again this time?

Oh and there are new pictures up now. The doll is for sale now. I think with the new pictures the doll could work as an angry little girl. Which means I could make it fit my family.

    4. I got my payment request last week too, though I can't pay just yet.

I think Savon could make a really great girl, especially if the current painted Drui legs will fit (that is, when the translucent parts arrive so my Drui can have them, making the original painted ones free).
I also think he REALLY needs hair. The lack of hair is making him look kind of silly, and a lot could be fixed by just getting a wig in there. But of course, that's impossible as the helmet is the headcap, so it's either hair or helmet.
I'm not a fan of any of the clothes or accessories or helmet or anything though, it's really just not my thing as I pretty much exclusively like fantasy dolls, even if they're just human dolls dressed fantasy.
Currently contemplating splitting everything off now for the extra cash to pay for him, but if I decide I can't do anything with him (aka make him a fantasy girl) after all, I'm worried that I wouldn't be able to find a new home for him as a NOT fullset. Hmmm.

    5. My Savon arrived, pictures up in the box openning forum. The hat for Savon should fit Seras perfectly. (Unlike the hair for the other two life project dolls which won't fit each other).

    6. Has anyone received their translucent parts for Drui yet?

For those who may have forgotten, those who ordered faceup Type 1 Drui did NOT get the translucent arm that everyone else (who ordered faceups 2 and 3) did due to a factory mixup.
Domuya promised that the translucent arms we didn't get (and very much wanted) would be sent out to us, and as an apology, all those who ordered Drui regardless of faceup choice would be getting the translucent legs we all originally thought we'd be getting based on the promo pics.
If memory serves me correctly, we were told to wait until the end of October for our parts.

It's now February and I've received neither the parts nor a reply to any of the e-mails I've sent them about this.
Drui just sort of sits in a corner out of site because I can't do anything with her until she has the correct parts.
At the very least I need that translucent arm that the rest of you were lucky enough to get, but I'm not happy with the legs either.. they really would be better translucent.

      Has anyone heard anything?

    7. Nope, sorry Midnitestar7. You may want to message them again.

      -Anneke

    8. Tried mailing them again yesterday but have heard nothing yet.
Will let everyone know if I do!

    9. Domu: I just discovered this line and I love it so much. :D I think this is the first time I've seen environmentalism acknowledged in the doll world, and it's so nice.:aheartbea
I actually really love how you can see Drui's elastic, it looks very vulnerable exposed like that and it goes with the theme, I think. My favorite design aspect of any of the dolls so far is Aria's fused legs! I just love it, I don't know why, it's just such an interesting concept! And the body the dolls share is very beautiful. :aheartbea
I am not able to afford the subscription, but I hope I become able to afford at least one of the dolls before the project is over! >3<

    10. No word yet on the next doll. Any word on the parts?

    11. Had absolutely zero reply to the e-mail I sent a couple of weeks ago.
Close to PM-ing them here on DoA as clearly they're active here.

I think they're so busy with this giant horse thing, they're not doing anything with the Life Project right now.

    12. Has anyone heard anything from Domuya on when our transparent Drui parts will be sent out yet?
I've had my girl for around 6 months now so she's been waiting for the parts she should have come with originally for a LONG time.:(

    13. Hi everyone! I'm expecting an Aria - hopefully she'll arrive sometime later this week. I was reading through older posts in this thread and saw mention that the coloring on these dolls can rub off. Would it be wise to spray some MSC on those areas when she arrives?

I'm new to this size BJD. I've collected mainly anthros and tinies. Has anyone used wigs for their Aria? Do you happen to know what size she wears? Also, what size eyes does she take? I appreciate any info you can provide! :fangirl:

I can't wait to get my first mermaid BJD! Oh, and she's the pink version, in case you were wondering. :)

PS - If anyone is looking for an Aria, Dale of Lone Star Dolls mentioned that she still has a few available (including the teal and aqua tail), as well as Drui and Sera. All are on sale right now, as well.

    14. I've found the dolls take Yo-sized wigs. Tiny heads, compaired to most MSDs, which I actually like. However makes it abit of a pain to find mature looking wigs for them.

      -Anneke

    15. Thank you very much for that info on the wigs these dolls can wear, Anneke! I greatly appreciate it! I was hoping that the head size was on the smaller scale, as I have some wigs from fashion dolls that might just work on Aria, too. :)

    16. Just another poke to see if anyone's gotten their Drui translucent arm (for those with Faceup 1) and leg (for all adopters) yet, or at least heard anything from regarding when these might be arriving?

I'm at the point where I'm close to bumping this thread daily like a crazy person because I REALLY want my parts. It's been a really long time now and all e-mails I sent are either getting ignored, or they're just not getting them.

If there are problems with the translucent legs I'd totally understand if those are going to take longer, but everyone else got their translucent arms just fine - only those of us with Faceup 1 didn't - so I don't see why I'm still waiting.:(

    17. Cattwo, if you mean fashion dolls like Barbies, that is 'puki' size, which is much smaller then Yo-sized. Just to let you know.

midnitestar7, just keep trying to contact them. Are you on the life cycle plan? When you make the next payment, can make a note then.

      -Anneke

    18. That's the thing, I AM on the subscription but when the last doll was released, I wanted to pay them for that doll and the next together in one big wire transfer (as we did with Drui and Aria, because that's the only way I can pay them)/
I contacted them about this twice, and they never replied. You'd think they'd reply if it was about MONEY. ::laughs::
I was really bothered about that too much though because I really didn't like the last doll.:sweat

I must have mailed them at least 4 times on top of that too regarding Drui's parts, but nothing.
Tried them on DoA as they're clearly active here, so hopefully that'll get some kind of respone!

    19. Hi Anneke! What I meant by fashion dolls are the big girls like Sybarites. They generally take a size 5-6. I also have an Evangeline, which takes a size 6-7. I have more wigs in the 5-6 size, so I was hoping they might work but I'm not as familiar with sizing wigs by the BJD type. Do you happen to know the corresponding numbered size wig equivalent to a Yo-sized one?

Hi midnitestar7! I hope you're able to get an answer to your question soon and better yet, that translucent arm you're waiting for! I know I would be very frustrated if I were in that situation. They shouldn't keep you waiting like this and I really hope you hear back from them soon!

    20. Cattwo, congrats on your new mermaid BJD! I have the Aria in pink as well and I love her. I have a pinkish-lavender Tibetan lamb wig from Tinybear that came with a Narindoll Narae 43 cm that I bought 2nd hand from the marketplace here. I believe that it's approximately size 6-7. Narae's head is quite small and Aria's is as well, so I'd suggest shopping for BJD wigs in no larger than a size 6-7.

I also have 14 mm glass eyes in my Aria that I purchased from Denver Doll Emporium. I think they're called Watercolor. I had originally gotten them for another doll but they look great in Aria. So you can probably go for 14 mm eyes or maybe 12 mm but I wouldn't go any larger than 14 mm.

I will try to get around to posting some pictures of my girl soon.
