Haha yeah I went through the exact same thing. I was planning on buying myself a Homme Kirill for Christmas... but then DOD came out with the amazing offer I couldn't shut down... I was actually looking to buy Kyle Reese from DollMore after I got the Homme Kirill... but then DOD came out with 70cm boys and I caved! XD

I also settled for getting Luke first mainly because he is cheaper right now, and who knows what the price will jump too... and also saving up for a less expensive doll in the future like the DOC's wont be too hard

Average shipping on a doll will be 60ish on MSDs from what I've experienced, and about 80 to 90 depending on the size of an SD to 70cm... It's a lot, but at least you know they'll be shipped safely. And our customs usually doesn't have too much issues with "toys"

 

Ai Kazi... as far as I know thats a pretty average price. A DOT I calculated shipping was 82.44...not much of a difference. They are pretty big dolls after all. I don't think that's any more than another company with dolls that size. Eh but as I look up KeikoChan said that pretty much. Oops. But all I ordered was the doll with everything...wig, clothes, faceup and shoes.

I think you made a good choice StreppyPoo. A DOC is a much more managable price than what the DOI's might climb to. We had a similar thought process it seems!

 

^__^ DOD apparently updated their website to reflect a more accurate account of how many of each doll they will have for the first batch... I think it's somewhere around 20 or 25... so here's the availability update again:

Oh yeah! DOI body pix are up!!!! *drools* OMG that body is HAWT!!!! Apparently they're using the new DOC joint system for their new DOIs... Although the leg joint throws me --- you can see the hip bone is way higher than the thigh joint... I may not be a guy, but that doesn't look anatomically possible... I guess it's ok since it's a doll and that must be the "ideal" Anyone else want to offer any thoughts?

 

I live in Indianapolis, IN (nice and in-between) and my shipping total was the same. ^^

WOAH. Hot damn. @___@ This has to be one of my favourite 70cm bodies so far; though the muscles of the chest are a bit odd, over-all I really love the effect. They have a bit more meat to them than the other tall guys around, which I also really love. I've seen guys that have really high hip-bones, so I don't think it seems as weird to me. Maybe a bit high for the normal guy, but it is possible.

I was kind of worried about what the body would look like, as we weren't given much to go by at first, but I'm very pleased with it! It's perfect for my character and I'm going to really enjoy learning how this guy poses and all the quirks involved. ^^

P.S. It's nice to see they're offering up the body separately! It'll save a lot of people the trouble of doing splits.

 

Ooh, very pretty bodies - though personally I don't really care for the way the elbows are jointed (I think other DOD dolls are jointed the same way? Correct me if i'm wrong as I don't actually own one ^^;; ). It just looks odd to me...also the extra joint on the thigh is a little strange, but maybe it adds to their posability? Other than that I think they are really beautiful, and really the first time that just the body of a doll has caught my eye. (Not saying that other dolls don't have nice body sculpts, but this one just really stands out~) I really can't wait to see some owner pictures of how well they pose

Only DoCs have been jointed this way so far. In fact, it seems they took a DoC, made it bigger, beefed it up and added the double jointed knees. The DoTs are not jointed like that at all.

But man that body is awsome. Would've been a bit more reassuring had they showed it from the start when they went on sale, but this is reassuring.

 

Oh yeah! Those are some NICE bodies!!! And double joints!!! *love* I really do wish that the DOT bodies had double jointed arms... but ah well... hopefully they'll come out with a DOT jointed body and I can just get that for my Sha and then give Sha's old body to the Lahoo head! XD haha!

I'm kinda getting worried though... I ordered my Luke last Saturday, sent out the bank wire on Monday... and I still haven't recieved a note saying that the money arrived And seeing as to how many dolls are left... eep..

DOD said that if money is not recieved within 10 days then they cancel it... but I have a question... does that mean 10 days starting the day after the order, or the day of the order...

like for example... I ordered Saturday, so would day 1 of the count begin Sunday or the Saturday that I put in my order?

I sent out an email to them yesterday to check in on it... I guess I should have done that sooner >>...

 

Bank transfers usually take a long time, so I wouldn't worry too much about it yet. However, you might want to email DOD and inform them that you did request the transfer, and give them the number (or whatever is used to id your transfer). That would make them more lenient, should your transfer come a bit late ^^

 

If you put your order number in the notes of the transfer you should be ok but yeah they can take a while, which is why I generally use CC instead.

I'm glad they'll offer the bodies separately. If the resin match isn't too off I'll replace my Hound body maybe.... (my first DoT matched the Saint my friend had so here's hoping.)

 

What a lovely body. *___* I usually don't like muscular bodies but this one is just made of win.

 

The body does look nice. I'm not overly fond of the elbow joint, but I don't have any dolls to compare it to anyways. I'm sure it will grow on me, plus the fact that it is double jointed can only be a good thing for posing! Overall it's a nice sculpt and will be great to draw. It's not overly muscular thank God. I'm in figure drawing and I must say it's pretty accurate, especially for a doll!
I hope they don't run out of A&D No. 1 before I try to order. That would be sad.

 

i'd like to test DOD's theory that the T Lahoo head won't fit on the DOI body... lol I think I'll make my friend who's getting an A&D 2 and the T Lahoo head test that... i'll help... I know how big of a pain DOD's dolls can be with removing the head... ugh...

 

Quick question, I've always wanted to use my Credit Card to do the transfer... but I was always a bit nervouse about sending a scan of all my information to them. How exactly do you, or anyone here that uses the Credit Card method send their info securely to DOD?

I did the transfer thing. All my dad had to do was send a scanned copy of his ID through email. Some reason the fax # didnt work. But they got it alright and said they delete the info after.
