Dream Valley Mini Discussion Thread

*slides in* hello fellow DV owners. I just got an instock Thorn from DDE and I know almost nothing about DV other than the two very random pet dolls I have acquired in the last year. I’m excited to check out a company that’s new to me. Also it’s been years since I’ve gotten a mini, so that’s fun!

 

My Thorn arrived! I really like the DV body.

They are!! I'm torn with putting her in my already-established circus or making up a new post-apocalyptic setting for her. Or both?

 

i so want the 3 armed boy body for my Vine. wish they made it in 1/3 too then we could have all 1/6 + 1/4 + 1/3 versions LOL.

post-apocalyptic circus seems intriguing, you could totally pull that off!

 

I'm waiting for my very first doll which will be an Ann full set. I've really loved their dolls so I'm excited to have one although I know next to nothing about what to expect! I hope her tail won't interfere with dressing her too much...

 

welp, it took a combination of thicker elastics, sueding, and now wiring, but my dream valley body can now stand. I guess wiring alone would have been enough, but I wanted to try other things first.
the 50cm boy body is really gorgeous, but out of all my dolls I've never had such uncooperative knees before. Well, it is only standing that was an issue, he can sit and kneel just fine, but damn if it wasn't a frustrating issue anyway...

 

Is there any wear or chips with the locks in the knee peanuts/joints? The body I have does prefer to cock one knee by going to the first notch in the locks, but I still can put it back straight and it will stand without issue.

 

as far as I can tell, the knees are the same as when I got this body. It has always had a tendency for the knees to bend the instant any weight was put on them, pretty much from day one. Maybe I was just unlucky and there was something wrong with it. I have a female body too, and so far it has not caused me any problems, so I kind of assumed there was an engineering issue with the male body

 

Kheima is on the 3-arm body and he's a very solid stander even after I had him re-strung to be looser than he came to me from DV. The only... relaxation of posing ability was with his 3rd arm and even then it's not a huge difference. When I received him from DV he was strung so tight that I could barely get his head on and he creaked alarmingly when ever I moved any of his joints; to the point where I was genuinely afraid of damaging him.

He was strung so tight that in order to be able to re-string him, we had to cut his elastic because we couldn't pull his foot far enough out to be able to slip the S-hook off and that was even after taking off his head. There was also next to nothing (maybe 1/2" at most) past the end of the knot so we wouldn't have been able to use the factory elastic anyway.

 

Oh my gosh. I've just seen the newest creation of DV.
The winged dragon is so... hhhhhhhhgn! I feel mighty needs, but already I can't decide wether I love his default fantasy full set more or my idea of making him a new member of my mecha crew...
Why can't I win a 1+1 and save myself from needing to make such a decission XD

 

I'm really tempted for a new dragon.
He has the best pointed ears DV ever did.
I hope that horns are on magnets (are movable).

I'm a llitle worried about the tail, because it looks quite heavy and they made him on magnets.

 

Is the new dragon boy 1/4 size? I may be in trouble if he is. I'm weak for DV's dragon sculpts, and those wings look amazing.

 

DV confirmed on Instagram that he is MSD. I'm in trouble too.
And looking on the pictures of the dragon body it is not exactly the new B-15 body. The chest and upper part of the legs look a little diffrent for me.

I'm not scared of the tail's weight at this point. Anything DV has engineed so far has worked out well, so I'm confident that they have powerful magnets that will hold up that lovely tail

I already have a plan.
Originally amoured by the fullset, I'll probably try to get him blank and in gray. Hopefully with human feet to switch for the dragon ones. Also convinced that he horns must be magnetic this time, because of the way they sit on top of that wig.

 

DV's engineering is honestly incredible, so I'm sure the magnetic attachment will be fine. It'll be nice to be able to dress them more easily by removing the tail! An articulated tail that attaches by magnets is a really cool idea too!

I'm not sure if I want the fullset or not this time. I haven't been a huge fan of DV's face ups in the past, even if their sculpting itself is drop dead gorgeous, although their body painting is great. I do kind of like what I can see of the outfit, though. Honestly, I'll probably go with a blank boy and do the customization myself.

 

I've ordered a human Rah, I'm so excited for him. I'd been struggling to find a sculpt I like for a particular character but he's perfect! Eventually, I'll also be getting a human Cayes to be part of the same group. Now the only problem is finding a doll taller and more muscular than him but still in proportion to be his BF, haha.

 

The tail being magnetic could be a good thing. But are the magnets on this body strong? If not, it would be a total pain! My DV Noel and Lance heads have magnetic ears and I’m must be very careful when I play with them or just put the wigs on. It’s too easy to lost this parts because the ears magnets are not so strong as I would expected. And that’s why I worry about the magnets in the dragon tail.

Congrats Amnestica. I had a plan to order eagle Rah and human Rah head, but... when I saw the pics of a new dragon and look deep to my wallet I sadly realised that I can afford only one doll and I must chose between an eagle and a dragon. This is the last day to order Rah and I still don't know what to do.

 

I see! I guess I've had a good experience with my DV magnets, so I wasn't as concerned. My Chaos's head magnets are very strong, his ears aren't going anywhere once they're on.

I hope you're able to make your decision! Rah is a gorgeous doll, but the new dragon is fantastic too. For me, it's going to be the dragon, since I've been a dragon lover since middle school, but I can definitely see how that would be a hard choice.

On a dragon related note, here's a recent picture of Camus! I'm not sure if I've posted him here since he got his new face up. Also, miraculously found a wig that both stays on his head and suits my aesthetic sensibilities. XD I'm hoping to get some good pics of Camus and my newly arrived and customized Izzy together for the extra dragonny goodness.

 

I made a "pro and contra" list and decided to not buy Rah this time.
Because of a shorter neck, the eagle body isn’t such universal like a dragon body (I like to switching head sculpts and with eagle Rah body it’s impossible, because I would need an extra chest part dedicated to a human head). I realized I just need an eagle head, but I wouldn’t be able to sell the body with a neck, which is dedicated especially for an eagle head. It wasn't an easy decision, because I really like the eagle head.
