Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Dream Valley Mini Discussion Thread

Feb 7, 2018

    1. Hoping i can find some help here or pointers. I have a beautiful DV b4-04 body, the 51cm one with a mystic kids head.

I know the size is a little strange, and was wondering if anyone had any tips to finding clothes (especially pants) for this size?

    2. I have a DV head I can't identify due to its modifications and was wondering what sculpt is U4-6 (that's the number inside the head) if anyone knows and could tell me I'd greatly appreciated it.

    3. Even with the modifications, a picture might help with identifying the sculpt.

    4. Sorry, putting photos on here is a pain as why I didn't. I asked the company and they IDed him as vine.

    5. Aah, well that's good. Nice that they could find an answer

    6. So - I have two questions for the group.
      1. I snagged an in-stock Rita mantis doll from Denver Doll. It's BIG. BIG doll. Loooooong legs. I did a search on Google and Instagram, but I'm not seeing a lot of pictures. Anyone else have one? How the heck did you paint it? Sheesh - how do you seal it?

      2. Abyss is coming! Should be here Monday. Can you photograph these dolls in water? (Abyss is a mermaid.) Wouldn't that get the string wet? Or cause the S-hooks to rust?
I want to put her in a water scene - but I'm at a loss as to how to do that without getting the doll, well - wet.

    7. I think if you choose to do a water scene, you'll need to unstring and let her and her elastic thoroughly dry (probably 24 hours for the elastic) or risk mould becoming a thing. But I've never done a water shoot like that so I could be wrong.

    8. I think @Iron_Dog is right, that you would need to unstring her afterward and let all the parts dry thoroughly to avoid mold and rust issues.

I'm hoping my order from February arrives soon! I ordered Howard II with the monster arm body and Rubin, and I'm getting super impatient!

    9. So I went back to the Customization and Maintenance tab and reread the All About Sealants thread. I saw that Army Painter Anti-Shine Matt (sic) Varnish was one of the tried and true sealants, so I grabbed a bottle of the airbrush version on Gnomish Bazaar. I'm hoping to try it to seal the doll using an air brush.

    10. My Sylves arrived today :whee:

He's absolutly gorgeous and I'm so in love. Not what I have him, I'm even more eager to for my Dawn :aheartbea

Hoping the artis who already did my small dragons is willing and ready to take up this one as well ^^° He's... quite a big hunk of resin.

Personally I think Dream Valley really keeps outdoing themselves. Even the wings ar jointed and posable *sighs happily*
If they keep up this more mature style they recently have going, I might need more of them than I thought or planned :3

Anyone else waiting for theirs? Can't wait to see more and what else ppl come up with <3

    11. Even blank he's all kinds of gorgeous. DV has released some beautiful dolls. I'm disappointed that none of them are speaking to me as characters but my wallet is very, very happy that none are claiming to be characters.

    12. @Iron_Dog Oh, I feel you on both levels. Enjoying their creations, but glad not all want to move in, cause space is starting to get tight XD Luckily I'm also getting more picky. Unfortunately DV seem sto be stepping up their game each time.

@xyuemoto I absolutely agree. I hope the one who is behind the sculpting gets notice of some of my love for this masterful craftmanship -^3^- They deserve all the praise and love.

    13. Getting photos to upload from my phone is an ordeal right now, and I don't know why...

Abyss is a blast to pose. She balances delicately on those little spikes. (No stands used in these photos.)

The wig is a little poofy up top - I'm hoping it will calm down with time (suggestions greatly appreciated!):

Edited to add: does anyone have one of the 1/4-scale fairy bodies? My one complaint about this doll is that DV never made human legs for her! :...(
I'm wondering how she would look on the 1/4-scale body with wings?

Oh - and she came with honest-to-goodness COAs! They're the same size and material as a plastic credit card.
And I got a gift head? (The other mermaid sculpt, I'm guessing.)

    14. Also - the Dream Valley mantitaur is bonkers. Totally out there. This is Rita, blank, in white resin. And she's HUGE.
Please excuse the mess in the background - remodeling the office:

For size comparison: Doll Chateau Debbie (NS) on Loong Soul 1/4-scale or MSD (NS) body:

If you decide to grab a mantitaur (one in stock at Denver Doll) - I would NOT try to pose this doll like other BJDs. By that I mean - I don't just move the parts of the legs into place. I pull the lower part away from the doll before moving it. I tried just bending the joints, but there's seashell-like sculpting at each leg joint, and when I did that, small bits of resin flaked off.

Dream Valley sculptors live on another plane of existence. Hands down my favorite company.

The only bad thing about getting this doll was that DV stored the foam in the same place where they spray sealant. The first time I opened the box, I was hit with the stench of MSC. which I recognized from my first (bad) respirator experience. I immediately got nauseous and had a headache for hours. I left the box open in the garage for about 3 days to make the stink go away.

    15. Wow. She is a LOT of leg. She's gorgeous. Sometimes I'm ever so slightly regretful that I don't collect girls.

I got hooked into DV with their 3-arm body. A few months ago I purchased an in-stock Dean giraffe-taur from BJDivas and just adore him. I recently saw someone selling a Bethel and my dolly heart was dancing while my wallet was begging and pleading not to do it (haven't hit the buy button as I'm trying to be good but I am awfully weak against resin in the form of dolls).

I'm beginning to strongly suspect that DV is attempting to seduce me into giving them all my money.

    16. @MaleficientMrsofEvil Oh wow, what pretty plushing! And poses like a dream on top. Nice~~~
      Congrats!

Also congrats on the Mantis :D
You are the first one I've seen who stretched all her legs to full lenght like this XD good to know how tall she can be when she gets ready to bite heads off ;P

      Gorgeous <3

@Iron_Dog At least you are still in the seducing phase XD Others are already slave to the whims of their creative outbursts <3

      • x 1
    17. @Snowy I'm only still in the seduction phase because too many other companies are also vying for my wallet. I own dolls from 40 different companies so it's a bit of a crowded field lol.

      • x 2
    18. @Iron_Dog ... That, I can understand. (And I refuse to count how many companies got my money. I refuse to count anything anymore in my collection, except for the days that my order might ship XD)

But yep. Only the cream of the cream gets the awarded the funding <3

    19. @Snowy The only real reason I'm resisting as hard as I am (which isn't that hard if I'm being honest) is because I need to purchase a body for Qayin (and another for another head but that's not as critical as Qayin's) and I have 4? 5? dolls that require face-ups (and have required them for some time *sigh*).

But DV keeps coming out with really cool and unusual sculpts that tend to push my buttons hard. They are the most tempting of the companies right now that are trying to siphon money from my wallet. I'm not as annoyed by that as my wallet insists I should be.
