1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dream Valley Mini Discussion Thread

    1. Dolls as b'day gifts to self; I am a long time member of this club. I'm seriously considering holding up that tradition again this year (not a DV temptation though) but my desire for a tattoo I've wanted for literally years is fighting hard for the money available.

    3. I got an email from BJDivas confirming my address on Friday, replied on Saturday, but haven't gotten a separate email with a shipping notice. I'm hoping my order shows up this week, I'm tired of waiting!

    4. He's heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere!! The handsome boy arrived, and I must share!

It's very tricky to get him to stand on his own. And he creaks lol. Boy, you guys weren't kidding when you said the DV dolls are strung tight!! I love him and can't wait to get him customized....and some clothes.....

    5. @Brytewolf - those feet are just exquisite. I love the sculpting. They look sharp enough to draw blood, too!
Please keep us posted if/when you start customizing him. Any ideas?

    6. I couldn't be more in love with the feet!! They really aren't that sharp, tho they look like they could be lol.

I shall! I made some pants for him today and I am ecstatic cause they look essentially how they did in my head and I was going without a pattern lol. As for customization, I bought him a pair of Sherra's wings, so I'm waiting for those to come in before I send him out for body blushing and faceup. He's gonna be modeled after an African Fishing Eagle, so at least the artist won't have to do any barring or extra painful stuff lol.

I'd love to get him some kind of removable tail as well, but that might be difficult.

    7. Hello, wodering if someone has same thoughts: am I seeing things or MSD Dream Valley Vine looks eerily similar to discontinued SD Dollzone Snow sculpt? I'm having same vibes with DV Elvish [similar to DZ Gray]?

I was totally obessed with Snow, unfortunately he was discontinued before I had my chance, and looking at Vine, he looks like a twin in some photos. :love

    8. Hmmm. Now you've got me curious. The biggest issue I see is - are you willing to (let someone else?) Dremel a hole in his backside (and glue in a tiny magnet), and then just pick something up secondhand?
Or if you're looking for an eagle-specific tail, Amazon sells feathers pretty cheap - and some of them already have stickies or magnets attached. AliExpress sells feathers too - but you're going to end up with a LOT of feathers.

    9. I think if you look diligently enough you can find a sculpt from another company that will share a lot of similarities with the one you desire but usually can't get for a variety of reasons. A little face-up magic or maybe even a bit of modding can get you pretty close to the look of the desired sculpt.

Telethesia/Dragon Doll makes a sculpt that I call Discount Saint as he very strongly reminds me of a Dollshe Saint.

    10. DV was also founded by sculptors that worked for DZ/DC in the past, similiarities make a lot of sense even not including what was mentioned above.

    11. Thank you, sculptors part explains a lot, considering DC, DZ and DV sculpts usually appeals most to me. Vine might be as well my first MSD doll, although I'm also looking at their SD ones.

    12. Got my shipping notice Saturday for my February order of Howard II and the 3 arm body! :dance I'm so excited, and I've got wig, eyes, clothes, and shoes waiting for him.

    13. Yeah, I don't want his perfect bum drilled up for a magnet xD I was thinking maybe just attaching it to his pants with the magnet (sort of like how people put the magnets inside wig caps for ears). But since I've never done anything of the sort, I don't know if that'd be a viable option if I did go for something like resin. I do have a 3D printer, so it'd be possible to print something up at home if I can find files I like the look of. I can't recall ever seeing a bird tail in the secondhand market, though I haven't been hunting around for long lol.

Making one out of feathers would definitely be an option too, and probably a lot lighter lol. He's already gonna be imbalanced with the wings, every little bit of weight taken off would be helpful. Silly boy is already hard enough to get standing - though he does like to tip forward, so maybe some weight in back would actually help lol. He's also very...kicky....

    14. Even a feather tail will create some weight as you'll need some sort of frame/support for the feathers to be attached to. I would assume a cast resin tail would be pretty heavy. 3D printed wings would likely be lighter but I'm not an expert. If you're attaching the tail via magnets to his clothes, make sure the pants fit tightly at the waist/hips (no elastic waist) or the weight of the tail will drag the pants down and he'll have a constant wardrobe malfunction.

Alternatively, you could make a belt with a flap/tongue that hangs down a little in the rear and attach the tail frame to that. It should be fairly stable with the weight of the tail keeping it more or less over his butt without relying on the waistband of the pants to keep the tail in place since DV boys are pretty skinny and finding snug fitting pants at the waist/hips that aren't stretchy is a bit challenging.

    15. I didn't even think of a possible wardrobe malfunction! That would be horrid. This boy is apparently getting a full set of handmade-by-me clothes. They include a pair of pants that just wrap around and tie with a bit of yarn, so they can fit as snuggly as I need them to, thankfully! Could probably handle a wire frame for feathers, or 3D printed tail (the things I've printed so far have been very light) with no issues.

Ohhhh, thank you! That flap is a great idea and I'll most likely work from there! I gotta finish that full set of clothes first, but the tail will be my next part of the project.

    16. Some of my guys wear the wrap pants (not the DV boys though) and I feel reasonably confident in saying that attaching a tail to those style of pants would be a constant loosing battle with gravity. Funny enough, the ones that do wear that style of pants also have tails. However, their tails are very light as they're made of sueded silk sewn into a narrow tube with a pipe cleaner wrapped in cotton batting for the filling. The tails are attached with a section of beading elastic around their waist. It's not perfect but at the time (2008) I couldn't think of another way to attach the tail without doing a mod to their behind that I was very unqualified to do.

    17. Well, definitely no pants!magnet for Khafra then. I do find it entertaining that your wrap pants are on dolls that have tails...but not attached tails that would need the wrap pants lol.

Considering how hard he is to stand with any confidence he'll stay that way, I'll need something easily detachable for when he needs to sit (the majority of the time). Or at least can swing out of the way of his butt, like I imagine the flap would do. Though that may look a bit silly. I've thought about maybe getting him one of those saddle stands, but I can't recall them ever being used for boys. Does the sculpted junk get in the way?

    18. The Awh'anise are all about easy access clothing and the wrap pants are 100% that. I'd like to make a pair for Rhyia as he wears his Soom Euclase bird feet as his defaults and there is no way any pants are fitting over those feet (they're huge; as big as my hand). Akash has the same issue with his bird feet (Angell Studio Qingyi body). Darius (RS Pixiu) has bird feet (and a tail & wings) but getting him to wear any clothes at all is an exercise in frustration because he refuses to wear clothes. He's a tiny but the wrestling match involved to dress him is nearly worth a pay-per-view.

My giraffe-taur, Kyrieleison, has a resin tail and if I want him to sit on his rump, I need to position the tail oddly as it's not jointed. He stands like a trooper though. I'm still not sure how the heck I'm going to get his head off to send out to be painted because he's wicked tight.

I don't use stands for my guys so I can't comment on whether or not boy bits are in the way.

    19. Hi there! I use saddle stands for my boys, (Little Monica Little Emrill and Dream Valley Sylves dragon Vers.) and they can use the stands no problem. They're both msds though so that might be different with a SD body, assuming that's what you're working with.

    20. Sounds like a tail might add some counterbalance. Did you see this one on Thingiverse?

This is brilliant. Make a sturdy belt that fastens in the front, and then twist pipe cleaners around the rear and glue feathers to the pipe cleaners. Added bonus - poseable tail! Or you could sew a small ring in the back of the belt and attach pipe cleaners to the ring?
