Guess there will be no ordering of dolls after all...They just anounced this on flickr Here is Sakuli's Püns She was really special to us, because we won't ever cast another blank Püns, this one is the very last. We need to go further with this mold, so please, don't ask us in private if you can have one, we're always sad to say no... We will probably do some very unique casts that we'll send to our beloved and talented friends around the world, asking them to custom our little fat Püns, and then sell them for caritative events. This is what we need and we hope you'll understand. Thank you so much for everything!
From what I can make out...there will be some Puns made for carative events? Not sure what that means....charity auctions? Puts most out of the running I would think... does anyone know, besides the green was any doll sold from the site? I thought not...but perhaps am mistaken?
Sounds to me, that the Püns to be made in future, will be an auction like the PollyHood (mint green girl) was; a handmade doll having an artist face-up. They are also planning to make new faces, so who knows, if some of the future dolls would be also on topic here. Check their Flickr, to see a cute and funny hybrid; they tried the Enyo head on Püns body! That works out way better than I could have imagined with first thought.
Pretty sure caritative is just a mistake. I think they meant creative. I am glad their reason for discontinuing is very personal and I really respect that, but it's sad to see, especially when we all waited so long. I had so many plans for that girl and now I guess I can just sort of keep my eye on the marketplace in case anyone is crazy enough to sell one of those cuties. I wish I had been aware that they weren't going to be so limited or I would have tried a heck of a lot harder to get one before. *sigh* Oh well. Here's to hoping DoA will stop being stupid and at least let the other bodies be on topic. I hate that Mikhaila and Puns are fine but any new dolls with.... THE EXACT SAME BODY TYPE AREN'T? I just don't understand DoA's aesthetic "rules" at all. I guess I could understand if the heads were deemed off topic for being too "art doll"-ish but why the bodies too? *doesn't make sense* Anyways I'm just ranting. Sorry. I really can't wait to see what else DoD puts out though, they have such a lovely aesthetic!
caritative is french for "charitable" (Dust of Dolls are french) so i think something like charity auctions is what they meant. i guess it is sad that there won't be a bigger release of Püns as it had seemed there might be for a while, but i understand their decision.
I recommend joining Material Celeste where ALL Dust of Dolls dolls are ON-TOPIC. There are going to be more dolls from D.o.D. but apparently none of them are on topic here. Which I too find bizarre. But D.o.D. will not be announcing any releases here so MC is the place to go for artist dolls!
My understanding was the drudgeon vote on the dolls you mention was off-topic due to facial aesthetic not body type. Please get your facts straight and don't post assumptions on your part as inflammatory truth. Since Michaela is on-topic the pear shaped aesthetic itself is not off-topic.
I am sorry, it wasn't intended to be inflammatory. You're right, I did assume that because the heads were off topic that the bodies would be considered so as well. I went back and reread my convo with the mods and that was my mistake so I will gladly apologize. I've had a rough week and didn't think before replying and that was my fault.
I find this so sad! I am not much into artist dolls but DoD's (sadly because of the scandal) as one of my favorite body sculpts! I guess I'll have to hope they one day decide to sell them blank again... A little note about the aesthetic "debate", when I saw Khöl and Lünn were off Topic I went to see them and I really do not understand how Puns would be OT but not them... I do not remember which one it is, but one of them almost looks exactly like an Asian face (a little stylized but still very realistic) while the Puns is a lot more "animal"-like. I do not see why that would make the first one more "art doll"-ish ? Sometimes I really try not to think about the OT/OffT of dolls, but other times I just simply cannot seem to see any consistency...
Does anyone know if DOD's are going to bring Puns out again? as i think she's still one of my favourites
