DZ Doll: Standing?

Jul 7, 2007

    1. Yeah, not sure what's wrong there. Baron has always stood fairly well, might need a bit of positioning but he does good. I have since had him wired, but that's just for extra pose-ability, not because he was deficient in standing. Personally I've never had a problem getting him to do anything basic, and he's never been that kicky...and he is strung VERY tightly as I prefer it that way in all my dolls.

With restringing, you just have to take a deep breath and dive in! It gets easier after you've done it once or twice. Good luck!

    2. This is good to know considering the companies here are the same companies in which I've been suggested for face molds.

    3. My Dollzone Mo came from Junkyspot and he would not stand at first. He was very kicky/floppy. I learned that he was actually strung too loose so I simply made another knot in the elastic. It fixed everything!

He stands wonderfuly, though I have found my MO to be a PAIN to restring. x_x

    4. Really? My Fei was my first doll. I was terrified to string him, but I found it to be the easiest thing in the world. (Besides, you've never known difficulty until you have tried to restring a fantasy doll tiny. *_*)

My Mo and Fei stand like rocks. I think DZs have wonderful stability (even without suading)

    5. I agree, it might be the stringing. Both my boys stand nicely eventhough both are extremely loosely strung and I've never had any problems.

    6. I recently restrung my DZ yumi, (Rosalynn) and using the ribbon method, I'd have to say it was way easier than I thought, my only issue was putting the wrong foot on the wrong side!

(I also re-strung her new double jointed body! I accidentally put her knee joints in upside down at first! oops!)

but DZs are pretty straight forward, just don't loose the pieces....(where did that wrist joint get off to?)

    7. they have new bodys, which i heard pose great. my dz nina's bodys creaky, and pretty bad at standing(and posing) too

    8. I have both the 43 cm DZ dolls and a BB -- all stand well, but there is always the possiblity of the problem that has already been mentioned: namely, the leg twisting in the socket. But if you can get the leg properly oriented in the socket and make sure the feet are flat (as was also said) they stand perfectly. I also think it takes a bit of time to get used to where each doll's centre of gravity is; not all DZ dolls will stand as solidly in the same pose.
Once you get to know your doll better, you'll have no problems I bet!

    9. My twinny got a DZ new body 72Cm hong last November, he pose well and great, he also standing without any trouble just take care to put the feee completely flat.

    10. I have 2 single-jointed DZ minis, and one double-jointed DZ mini body that some MNF heads share, and they all 3 stand like rocks. They have right out of the box, with nothing done to them. I actually think my single-jointed boys stand more solidly than the double-jointed one (my Xi-Aleister will stand solidly on one foot). The double-jointed one is more flexible for posing, though. Even though they were already good posers and standers, I sueded and wired my single-jointed boys, and they're even MORE awesome. Still stand like rocks, the arms pose almost as well as the double-jointed one now (can touch their faces, etc.), and the knees don't twist anymore. They're awesome!

    11. My Mo is the double-jointed body and he stands like a champ. Right out of the box even. I just pick him up, straightened everything and sat him down and he just.... Bam. Stood there and didn't move. It was fabulous. I did it at a doll meet last month, just plopped him down on his feet for a second without thinking and he just stood there like he was glued to the floor.

Maybe fiddling with yours a bit will help? Sometimes you have to fuss with the joints, if something turns thr wrong way. I know his knees sometimes need a bit of adjusting. XP Silly knees.

    12. i took some peoples advice, and shes starting to not fall over as much! ivebeen catching her just in time, though, when she does.

    13. It could be just my particular doll, but my Shoyo has the new double-jointed body and I've had issues with her standing since she arrived. The leg joints adjoined to her pelvis are constantly twisting out of shape she keeps bending forward or back. She's rather kicky, too, so standing her has been a challenge. Otherwise, I love her range of mobility compared to the older body my Megi-2 has. But at this point, she really needs to be suaded, and I hope that can solve the problem. Given the choice, I'm not sure if I would choose the double-jointed body by DZ again.

    14. I found that on the double-jointed body you have to be careful to pull out just a little when moving from sitting to standing, because of the way the ball joints "lock" at the hips to help them sit sturdier. My double jointed one does stand great if I remember to make sure his leg didn't pop out at the hip and twist around. I find his knees pop out of joint less often than the single-jointed ones did before I wired them. Of course, with the wires NOTHING pops out of joint ever!

    15. Yes! That silly bobbled-y hip joint! I was actually pleased to have that for my DZ boy! It makes sitting him soooo much easier. My RS/BBB boy has.... issues. I have to futz with him for a minute to sit him properly because he doesn't have that lovely notch in his joint. I wonder how irritating it would be to.... sort of sand that in... I'll have to query about that in customizing later...

      Baaack to the subject~

Yes, make sure you pull on the leg a bit to make certain you've put it all the way back in joint, and it's not still got the little sitting bevel sticking out. >< I have forgotten twice and nearly did a soccer dive to keep Tanso from face-planting it on the hardwood floor in my hallway. I don't want to mash his pretty face!

    16. I'm constantly adjusting that joint, but it doesn't seem to take much to get it wonked-out again. Putting anything with legs on her (pants/tights, etc) drives me crazy. When I can afford to, I'm going to look into getting her suaded -- or perhaps wired.

    17. You could try hot-glue sueding. I do all mine, total cost for all of them was under $5 - it's incredibly easy. Wiring is even simpler, but I haven't wired my double-jointed ones yet. I need to get more white wire from my dad. I admit to wiring my cousin's Bobobie An's legs with black wire. He wears pants all the time anyway, and he desperately needed it.
