I really like that picture of your K's @Rabbit-moon -- the color balance is really cool and nostalgic. They look good with black hair.

My tan Ruru is here and I absolutely love her. I am very impressed with this body for the really nice arm poseability and her legs seem so short, she's got a great proportion. I am surprised that her head/face is so much bigger than Lydia's! She doesn't really have the same aesthetic to me because of it but that's not an issue. She is such a lucky find for me, I'm really happy.

I'm looking forward to painting her face hopefully soon since we have such unusual warmth but to be honest I am really fatigued and gross feeling much of the time, since she's already got a faceup from her previous owner I can enjoy looking at her plenty well for now regardless.

 

Thank you Mustbemissa and AlisonVonderland! Actually, Elfdoll K was my first big love. So much so that I had to get two! Those gorgeous boys will be 19 years old this year. I admit I’m not crazy about their original bodies anymore, since they are single-jointed, and not the easiest to pose. Doll body engineering and sculpture have certainly come a long way since 2007.

My very first girl was an Elfdoll Soah. She’s still on her original small-chest-huge-hips body. She will be 20 years old this year. My dolls are so old, sometimes I feel like they are museum pieces. But, I love them so much. When I look at my crew I’m hit with such a wave of warmth and nostalgia for the halcyon days of this hobby.


AlisonVonderland, congrats on the arrival of your Ruru! Yes, she was a lucky find!

Don’t feel rushed to repaint her. Just enjoy her until you feel better. (Still would love to see a picture of her…)

 

How did I miss all these beautiful Adens and Ks and Rurus? I haven't been getting notifications. Plus you all are making me feel guilty about never taking pictures.

@Tippetarius Aden is so rare, and you have three of them! Amazing.
@Cattya I have a vague memory* of a limited K in tan (same color as Ruru). Special K maybe? Homme skin isn't much darker than normal, so if yours seems quite a bit darker it might be tan?

*All my memories are vague lately.

Ruru is such a beautiful sculpt. I was lucky enough to get a tan one and matching reminisce head, both with nice company faceups. I thought her original body looked too small, so I ended up putting her on a sunshine Granado girl body, not a bad match at all.

@Cattya My guys are in Homme skin, it's not too much darker then the normal from what I've heard just slightly darker peachier/yellower. I know a few dolls had tan skin as an option like K, so seconding there is a chance it's tan. Elfdoll normal was a little lighter and pinker then Homme, but not by a lot.

@Alewife I didn't know Aden was all that rare, but I've always felt super lucky to have my boys. Thaddeus is the limited 50 version of the mold so maybe a bit rare. He also has almost all of his full set, (I wasn't sent the knit cap and black vest when I got him) and he still wears his full set jeans like all the time. However I gave his full set tank top and jacket to one of my other from early into the hobby boys. Bart is the "basic" version of Aden and the only diff in face up is slightly darker/brown eyebrows. Which worked perfect as Bart in comics has brown hair and his clone Thad is blond. No idea if Cobalt is a one of the first limited 50 batch or a basic, as I got his head 2nd hand. Cobalt's body was the last in stock Elfdoll boy body at DDE back in the day. I love and treasure my boys.


And for the fun and amusement of the thread, I'll share this older pic of Impulse (Bart) and Inertia (Thad) in the costumes I made them. The pic was taken forever ago they are in their first wigs and eyes before I found them much better options..

Yay! I am calling her Rocío.
Then... By great fortune I found a seller on Etsy with the Monique Christine wig (the long water wave style) in black color, which is basically a grail wig to me as I've never managed to find black still remaining in stock. Whether it ends up perfect for her or not doesn't matter because I really needed that wig in the stash. but hopefully it's also the right look.

@Rabbit-moon your Soah is so lovely that was one of my favorite sculpts because she seems so friendly and sweet. It's cool to have these dolls such a long time. Mine give me the warm fuzzies too. The bjd I've had longest would make 14 years together now, but I'm not sure how old he actually is. A lot of memories though!

@Alewife I hope you'll grace us with a ruru snapshot sometime then! That hybrid sounds lovely! Probably more realistic than her default proportions. I am lucky not to mind my ruru fitting in with the many other big headed old dolls around here.

@Tippetarius that's such a cool picture of them! It's a great pose! Posing is such an underrated skill.

@Rabbit-moon your Soah is so pretty. Soah was my very first BJD, and she's still #1 in my collection. Hard to believe she turned 20 last year. She's almost old enough to drink!

I haven't sewn the snaps on my recent dresses for Marina yet (who has a YID small bust body) but I think this halter dress design fits them both perfectly which is very cool. I do have some different stuff I'd like to make Rocío though and I got some white knit fabric today that I wanted for some ideas so hopefully I can see her in her own clothes soon.
