It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Ever been disappointed? Even a little?

Sep 16, 2008

    1. I don't know if I replied to this thread or not but oh well!

When I bought Mephisto I was thrilled!!
I spend all my savings on this full set Ringdoll Teenager Markus!
I was in LOVE! everytime I saw his picture I thought I would melt!

The day he arrived I left the animeconvention I was attending with a friend to pick him up. We travelled for hours and waited several more until the postman arrived.
when he did I squeeled like a 5 year old and nearly jumped the postman.
I opened the box with shaking hands and looked at the doll who was laying in the box.
      There were no pillows.
There was no mechanical arm like it said on the website I ordered from (this was the main reason I bought it), His face looked odd, he had a balloon head, his eyes were to small, his wig was lame and weird, etc.
My excitedment was GONE! I even was kind of ashamed of my doll and everybody made fun of him.
I didn't bond with him like I did with Kuroyami when he arrived the first day.
I actually got the mechanical arm almost a year later (the webshop think pink was kind enough to send it to me, because they made a mistake including it in the full set which was not the case)
I was a bit more happy, (even though 3 fingers broke in like a week)

But almost a year ago was the turning point:

I was going to the store of think pink to pick up a doll my friend bought. I took Mephisto's head (because his arm is to delicate) and was looking at a new wig for it. I putted on a long white one and fell in love that instand! I bought some red horns and loved it even more! My friend gave me some eyes for my birthday and I melted right away! (this without his face up, because I removed it because it was to shiny)
a few weeks later I bought the outfit (which was to expansive at the time) and fell in love!
Now I love Mephi just as much as my first doll Kuroyami and my little girl Mizuki and I'm proud to be his owner! (which was not the case when he first arrived)

((sorry for the absurd long post!!! =___=;;))

    2. I am kind of afraid, after reading a few things, that I don't know what I am doing... I am expecting that she will come put togehter, with pretty eyes, sanded... But it seems that isn't necessarily the "norm". I have these big "romantic" ideas about how she is going to be standing on my mantle, all dressed up and beautiful... :? I hope I love her immediately...

    3. I have been disappointed, and tried to push down those feelings and pretend I wasn't. I ended up selling both of them months later. If I don't fall in love immediately, I never will. Most of my dolls I loved immediately, though.

    4. I had newb disappointments. My first doll was really funky when I got her. She wasn't strung well so she wouldn't stand and was snappy, her eyes were googly and the eye putty was HORRIBLE. Her wig wasn't cut well. Her eyelashes fell out. Her outfit had strings hanging everywhere. She really was a mess.

I started playing with her though. I restrung her and hot glued her joints. I got new eye putty and decided I liked her better without eyelashes. I also fixed her clothes and trimmed the wig. I just fixed what was wrong or what I didn't like.

She now looks and works like the doll that should have come home to me. But I see it as a bonding experience. I worked with her and I just love her to bits now.

    5. That all depends on the doll you order. Mine was fully assembled and had the prettiest little eyes. You shouldn't be too worried though honestly. A lot of the time, all it takes is a pretty new faceup, the right wig, outfit or eyes and you'll love the doll. :)
If not, sell it and try again!

    6. I think of course! At some point evyone is a little disappointed. It has to do with this hobby!

    7. yeah... why a little? a lot. I bought bambi crony tiny doll. I swear, I am still dissapointed about those thread system in her feet and hands. So stupid, it doesn't help posing at all :|

    8. Oh god after reading this thread I really hope I'll feel in love with my dollie the moment I see him, he looks so gorgeus on all the pics I've seen.

    9. Yes. I definitely know the feeling.

But it isn't a box opening.

I've been hoping for well over a year that Volks would one day make Persona doll (especially Rise xP) and one day I woke up, went on the computer, and was like :O

My initial reaction was pure excitement. Then it came to looking at some pictures of her and the excitement sort of wore off. She was sort of what I expected, but at the same time I felt unsure.

None the less, I love Rise (as my avatar shows xP), but I do feel some disappointment.

The lottery came and went, was unsuccessful and now I need her more than ever.

    11. Yes, to be VERY honest I was a LITTLE bit disappointed when I had ordered my first doll, due the difficulty to have a good face up for him. I hope it will go well!

    12. Not really, no... although sometimes I do fall out of love with a doll quickly, I have yet to experience buyer's remorse for one right out of the box.

    13. I had a small disappointment with my Homme Kirill, but it was only with his faceup. Not the doll himself. I saw a picture of a Kirill on deviantart with goth makeup and thought it looked really great so I ordered mine with the same. When he came home, I was excited and really happy with him. But days later I kept looking at him and realized his faceup wasn't as pretty as I thought it would be. His lips especially. I should have given him the default faceup and not the goth..but I love him and I can always fix up his faceup myself and make him look gorgeous. ;)

    14. I ordered a Supia Rosy directly from the company only few months after they set up their own website. She was my third doll, the most expensive so far, and the first directly from the company, and the $61.80 shipping fee was a sore point for me. Therefore, when Supia offered a Christmas free shipping event a month after I had for paid my order, I was a bit exasperated. Still, I view event offers as similar to blue-light specials, with companies having no obligation to tell you when they'll occur, so I tried to let it go.

However, from my research on DoA, the two feedback that existed for Supiadoll stated they received their dolls in a month, and that was how long I expected to wait for my order, expecting her to come before Christmas, but my doll didn't arrive until after two months. I politely inquired about my order after a month, and I think the response was something about the weather. They did include a free pair of Glib glass eyes as apology; they're quite nice, actually.

The doll itself was lovely, and I was in awe of her, being my first SD, and most expensive. I don't regret buying her, I've had her for 2.5 years, and I don't think badly of Supiadoll; still, there was always this feeling that I should have waited more. It was just the accumulation of small things that made my first big doll purchase not what I had hoped.

Looking back, and reviewing my subsequent doll orders, I think my initial expectations were higher than my current ones. I know more of what to expect, now, and how individual companies act, so I adjust my expectations according to the company.

    15. I have been pretty lucky but have had two disappointments at this time. I ordered a Souldoll Agnetha just before she was discontinued and ordered it through Denver Doll because they were still offering her as a fullset. After waiting four months, Denver Doll Emporium notified me that she had come in as a nude doll. Neither the wig (which I loved) nor the outfit (which was dreamy and perfect for where I want to take my girls) were available. DDE was great about refunding my money and, I believe, eventually sold my poor Agnetha as a nude doll.
I also ordered an Impdoll Iris at the same time (I came into a little money I don't ordinarily have) and waited for her four months as well. When she arrived, Iris was so different in appearance to me that I though I had been sent the wrong doll. The wig from the fullset looked good in the picture but totally overwhelmed her delicate features. Eventually, after she had tried on every wig in my house, we found a beautiful short black wig that was great with her features. If I hadn't found the right look, she would have been gone already. As it is, I am pleased with her even though she is more mature than the girls I'm looking at collecting.

    16. Yeah, once :/ I was really excited to get a Migidoll Yuri head but when he came I just didn't connect with him at ALL. I have since sold him...he just wasn't right for me and I ended up not liking the sculpt!

    17. I did, when I was newer into the hobby and made the mistake of falling in love with the promotional image. Now normally this wouldn't be as much of an issue, but if you are new and order the doll blank to save cash and never seen a blank doll before, it's a very big mistake. I was pretty disappointed in her. She was not AT ALL what I imagined, but it was very foolish of me to have thought she'd come with that pretty faceup I loved when I didn't order her with it. I have no idea why I even thought she would. Regardless, I made a stupid mistake and essentially took it out on her.

She was a limited addition that, luckily, came with a mask. She wore that mask for the first year of me having her up until I grew a pair to finally paint her faceup myself. For my first natural faceup she was pretty good. It wasn't perfect though because I made an error in trying to glue the eyelashes that were too big in with superglue- ruining the eyelashes in th process. I did begin to love her much more than I did when I got her. I bonded with her, even though I was embarrassed about the bit of superglue still stuck to her eye which essentially ruined a pretty good faceup, imo. Then a year later I got fed up with the glue and wiped her faceup- completely removing the dried bits of glue. I redid her faceup using a new technique and she look comepletely awesome, and exactly how I expected her to be like, and without eyelashes no less. Now I adore her and she fun to take pictures of, when she lets me anyway. (That's a whole 'nother can of weirdness.)

    18. I had the same feeling when I unpacked Ciarre and put her together for the first time. I prefer a more delicate, elfin shape to a face and I wasn't real flash on her sculpt...heck, even now I'm not completely over the moon on the sculpt but I do like it better now that I've got a different wig and eyes for her.

But at the same time, I don't want to feel like I'm disappointing my husband because I spent so much money on her...though if I'm completely honest with myself, I wasn't in love with the sculpt from the start, I was in love with the outfit. I guess I'll either get there with the sculpt or sell the full doll and buy the one I really want...Siean... >.> <.<

    19. I hope I'm never disappointed in my future dolls. I'd be devastated. It's already hard finding the perfect sculpt for my character [Baron Samedi from AS being the best I can find] so if I finally bought that doll, and it turned out not like how I wanted....I'd probably be disheartened to buy another. I'd keep the doll, yes, but I probably wouldn't love it as much as I wanted to.

I hate reading stories about people falling out of love with their dolls and what not, makes me scared of getting my next doll. :C

    20. out of my 3 bjds, two have been disapointing. My 1/4 is a Bobobie/Resinsoul and I had to restring her...shes still hard to pose, she also is head heavy cause of the magnets which was hard to put her head back on(gave her a brain to keep her S hook in) and it still ticks to the side, and my 1/6 planet doll is hard to pose with her arms, one leg was smaller where it goes into the fin and the magnets werent strong enough to keep her human legs and mermaid fin on T_T bought new magnets but still doesnt help.
