Ever Been Spooked (Directly or Indirectly) By Your Doll?

Mar 1, 2007

    1. I opened up Lydia's box one time and she looked so angry. I actually called someone over to see if they saw the same thing. They did. The house was getting rearranged and she had been in her box for 2-3 weeks. I actually got her a little teddy bear to keep her company. She has been perfect since, but I still can't help checking her "mood" before I put the lid on.

    2. I had one of my dolls launch herself off of a shelf in the middle of the night after being ignored for a while. It made the loudest crashing sound and we came running in the room in darkness to find she had not only flipped off of the shelf, but brought the clocks and some other things down with her (tangled in her hair) and when we found her, she was sitting perfectly on top of a box... She landed perfectly and was sitting there looking so pleased with herself while everything else was all over the room. It totally spooked my husband out, I kept catching him corner eyeing the doll over the next few days. :D

    3. Nope, I've never been creeped out by my dolls, or anyone else's. Although my blank MNF Marcia did look a little scary without a face! I am an extremely fretful, easily startled person, but the dolls just don't scare me. I've never thought I saw them move or follow me with their eyes. I dunno; I guess I either have a firm grip on their being objects, or have some implicit trust of them.

However, if I thought I heard a doll whisper "I love you" like you did, I really would have been scared!!!!!! For me, the scariest things are odd sounds!

    4. For some reason, I just feel, that my kids here tend to have feelings by their own. Like my first BJD, a Tender Zen, because of her tender sleeping looking eyes, there ain't any problem each time I look even the make up and all, this few days, or some past time when I had my emotional problem and being sad, may be my eyes playing tricks on me, I saw her like there's tears within her eyes. As she also feel sad and her expression wasn't smiling where she used to. I don't find all this scary in fact I find is kinda sweet.and i know i trust them that they won't hurt me. But if one day they really say "I love u" to me, I'll be so happy... xD Oh yea.... One more funny thing happen. I have no idea why my girl here grow a mole at her eye corner. O_o... I mean, her face up was default by DOD. I didn't touch her face up since I got her 2006 and last year, suddenly I saw a mole right at her right corner bottom lashes... Is not dust nor I don't think is stain... Is just a tiny mole dot. LOOL

    5. OK, first person EVAR to get creeped out by one of my dolls. Zetto gave my friend Sharon a scare. Granted, I had to take the top of his head off because he is an Obitsu 60cm with the old-school head connector and unfortunately without the all-important washer doojie that holds the clasp in locked position. Without that washer the locking device will come "unlocked" at the weirdest provocation. He's getting a newtype neck connector but I need a second pair of hands to accomplish that.

"I've seen too many Child's Play movies" is the excuse she gave.

Oh come now, let's spot the difference between Zetto and Chucky.

      First...Zetto...

Yumiko isn't skeered...why should anyone else be?

      Now Chucky...
(Yes, I know he's OT technically, but he's there by way of comparison)

Spot the differences, anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

    6. I know that this is wrong to say so, but I would so love a Chucky BJD...

      Phil.

    7. Chucky has fueled so many of my nightmares when I was a kid but now he's...meh. LOL they look nothing alike.

As for me, I have an over imaginative imagination when the lights are turned out. Now, I'm not scared of my bjd's but I have been startled by them, not because they move or do anything suspicious like that, but more like they're standing there so complacently out of the corner of your eyes, or the time when I spent all night long staring at the computer screen, and seeing a hand reaching out at me, only to realize that the doll is posed there. Startled, yes but scared, no.

    8. I have never really been spooked by one of my dolls, my hubby is plum terrified of one of my Pukipukis though. I am not quite sure what it is about her, he says she reminds him of batboy (from the old weekly world news tabloid) but I have never seen him get so perturbed about any of my other dolls. At first I thought he was joking so I played a bit of a prank on him when he fell asleep on the couch and just kind of sat her on his chest, he woke up a little while later and freaked out :sweat

When he is not away doing military stuff (which is most of the time) I have to keep her in an eyeglass case on my desk-nicknamed her coffin- lest he accidentally gaze upon on her :doh.

    9. My doll Soeren looks kinda creepy when it's dark in me room, because he is white-skin and his eyes are very dark. So yeah, sometimes before going to bed I'm like a bit scared xDD

    10. I. . . have an imagination that runs rampant. Yet, my dolls have never creeped me out, though I hate clowns, dislike porcelains, and keep my friends between myself and the mannequins at stores.
One time, Faeren - my Zaoll Luv boy - was sitting on my nightstand, and when I woke up the next morning he'd fallen onto my bed and kind of looked like he was curled up watching me. His expression is so absentminded, though, that he just looked like he'd gotten bored and couldn't sleep. xD
My Puki Sugar, Izzy, is a bit higher on the creepy factor -- she's tiny, secondhand WS so she's an odd ivory color that i find endearing, and somehow every faceup I give her winds up a mischievous little grin. I don't mind her at all, though my friends get wigged out when she watches them.

    11. I'm not sure if this counts but, I had just put away my boy and hadn't put the box far enough under my bed and when I walked away, I freaked when the corner of the box tapped my foot because the other end hit my cat and it freaked too XD

Also, I was posing him for the first time and forgot that he was going to be kicky. I looked away and his leg kicked me. I didn't expect to be hit and had another freak out.

    12. the first nights after I put in my girl (zaoll) blue eyes (she had dark brown acrylics before) they kinda glowed in the dark cuz the eyes are in such a bright ice blue color with a sky blue pupil and she sat in my bookshelf and stared at me it was a bit creepy

    13. My Blue Jun had his eyes changed from default blue to a much nicer lilac! BUT it now means he has the whole watching you round the room thing...and if I am posing him I sometimes catch him looking at me funny....ooooOOOOO.

    14. Not by my doll. No. I think sometimes that she and Ashty (my daughter's doll) have moved on their own. Doesn't freak me out. Things like that sometimes happen in our house.

My daughter also has a My Twinn doll, Rosey, and Rosey always freaked my mom out. Mom used to think Rosey was kinda like Talking Tina from the old Twilight Zone episode, and that one wrong move would bring out Rosey's dark side. I guess because Rosey did look very much like a real small child, only her eyes NEVER CLOSED. (mwah ha ha :-)

    15. Not spooked by a doll but by this thread. :sweat It literally gave me a very horrible nightmare about a scary doll wanting to kill me. D; (not a bjd thankfully)
Shouldn't have read that Robert story, I suppose...

I think I have grown a fear of old fashioned plastic dolls now. T__T

    16. I have so many dolls in my room that it starts to creep my mom and my sis kids out.
The final straw comes when I displayed my "apple dolls" together with my BJDs.

She wanted me to rid of them all, so for their "apple dolls" safety, I keep them inside the cupboard hidden from their view.

Lucky I didn't told her that I bought a number of 2nd-hand so-called "haunted" porcelain dolls on ebay as well ;)

She thinks that dolls attract spirits and etc etc.
Speaking of paranormal...Well i just dont know what to say.
      I wonder??

      What do you people thinks?

    17. I have to agree, the Little Apples are pretty creepy....

    18. well, many others and myself put a lot of love into the dolls. and i think that something i love so much cant be haunted. besides, i think loving them calms every spirit that might be there, and theres no reason for them to be bothered by anything as long as they are loved (speaking from a supernatural point of view)

    19. A lot of my friends ask me 'don't you think they will come alive at night and kill you?' Superstition is different from belief in the unknown, superstitions are silly fears from scared people that believe that EVERY time a black cat crosses your path you get bad luck, which does not make sense to me. I agree with Mello, the dolls are products of love, not evil. I believe that dolls can indeed become possessed, and you can read about such happenings on the internet, but I think it takes a really strange and terrible situation for that to happen. And that you can tell.

And your apple doll in white is beautiful! When you first said apple doll I was thinking of those dried apple head dolls - which are kind creepy and shruken heady.

    20. I think apple dolls are unique even though I don't own any... can I ask what doll that is, 4th pic down on the left?

I think too many people remember the "Chucky" movies all to well...chucky was ugly though..LOL

and some cultures believe evil spirits live in dolls or human resemblances..just like rocks, trees and so on.. residual virbrations can be left on previously owned dolls..
