Ever Been Spooked (Directly or Indirectly) By Your Doll?

Mar 1, 2007

    1. All our dolls sit in the conservatory next to each other and I will quite often find that during the night they have changed positions; their heads may be turned looking at each other or their limbs have been moved. I am not in the least bit scared - in fact what does scare me is the thought that they really are only resin (I'm not saying they are so no one from Dollshavesouls2.com start anything...). Anyway, I have concluded that they either go on cheeky adventures during the dead hours or my Grandma can't resist dolls at the tender age of 80. :)

    2. not mine but I do have a funny doll story (ish)
I remember I was looking at some and I saw one that looked just like me-even had my hat
scared the bejesus out of me!

    3. I love reading all of these stories! Reminds me of the time I was over at a dear friends house and we thought this scary porcelain clown doll thing had moved out of the drawer she had put it in earlier that day because I had been scared of it. Turns out her mother had taken it out of the drawer. Scared the bejeeezus out o' us!

    4. I have 8 of those
and a bunch of mini's lol

    5. I had an old porcelain doll that was given to me as a gift before (I think I was younger than 9 then). I couldn't sleep with it just there, so I turned her box over (she was still in the box) so that she was facing the wall. She always gave me a weird feeling; I had no guts to look at her at night. I don't know what happened to her though, I think my mom got rid of it.

My other friend had a procelain doll still in the box too, and it really freaked her out as well. So she put it on the high shelf of her closet in a way that it wouldn't fall randomly. That night it was also really stormy/windy (in Edmonton, Can) and a flash of thunder came. She heard something fall and looked down and the box with the doll was there when she was already in bed. But then it was dark, so maybe she didn't push the box into the shelf than she thought she had?

Other times that I've seen ABJDs, I haven't been scared. I find them really and the aura I get off them are really different from procelain dolls? I don't know about ABJDs over night in my house though. I'm going to have to find out for that!
      Haha xD~

    6. yeah I have 4 porcelain dolls
I think its the face they're eerily still
they don't move, not a bit
and just look, and always have a look like they're kind of mad
      and you don't know why

I didn't understand the difference between porcelain and bjd's when I got my first one (I'd never seen either up close and doll knowledge wasn't in my head)
hence why I ended up with a few, I got them, realized my mistake, put them on my dresser and admire them from time to time
now Clover is coming and I can't wait

    7. Bratz and barbies freak me out, totally (not as in scared, but i really dislike them. and if someone dares to compae my dollies to barbies, i would shout back despiting whoever they are)
once i left toki on the chair then went to sleep, well he was stitting infront of my speakers which light up, i couldn't sleep so opened my eyes to find a human-shaped shadow on my wall O______________o
      but then quickly realising it was toki so i moved him away ^^;;

    8. I don't really have a fear of clowns or porcelain dolls >.> mostly because my best friend (Rakun) once had a porcelain clown doll named Pennywise. Lol, odd, but it didnt really scare me. Nymphadora hasn't done anything to scare me shat-less ~yet~ nor do I really want her to at anytime.

    9. Hehe, some really freaking stories here, gotta admit. I myself haven't ever witnessed anything eerie or scary near my dolls. Which is rather nice, I see ;)

    10. I Hate hate hate! Porcelain dolls. There is a huge one that my nana gave me that has been gathering dust in a hall closet for YEARS. I hate that creepy thing. But BJDs have an entirely different effect on me. Especially my Ophelia. I figure that if Ophelia moved, with her personality, she'd just get up to give me a cookie. ^.^ But porcelain dolls have no personality... They have no soul to them. At least you can tell your BJDs personality from the way they 'look' at you, and the way they pose... But Porcelain dolls... Are jus some messed up little creepers.

    11. Ooops. I’m one of these who clicked the Robert the doll link. Well. Definitely not a doll I would like to meet in person. Maybe it’s the eyes… So weird.
But those devil babies scare me more. I wonder if anyone ever tried to mod a DZ Christmas baby into a devil one :?
I totally hate eyes with no whites or when a doll has so dark eyes they appear “hollow sockets”. My friend has a porcelain doll for which he has no eyes yet so it has black beads in instead. I’m always careful around this one :sweat

I had lots of tall messed up creepers (two feet+ porcelain dolls ) since I was little and before I sold them all, they didn’t creep me out the slightest bit. They had all names but never got more than a hello from me when entering my room or so and never were in the need of physical contact. Rather they stood safe in their shelves. And I had a bond with only one of these (unfortunately got broken beyond repair).
BJD are just the completely opposite (IMHO of curse). I mean, it must be something on them that makes us picking them up every moment, speak to them and sob into their wigs when we are sad… or feeling safe being near them. Not to mention how their expressions appear to change with the angle you look at them from.

And after my first attempts at restringing mine tend to kick, putting their arms down or they bite you with their ankles and knees *snort* Oh my, its elastic in them! Funny to me, creepy to others.

    12. That is the cutest spook I've ever heard.
      I was like. . .Cooing ~
      That was so sweet.
And scary at the same time. . .

    13. that was the creepiest thing bjd related i've ever heard ! ! !

    14. YES. >.< Back when I met my best friend she had a huge shelf of porcelain dolls above her bed, and I just couldn't sleep in her room. (she ended up coming to stay at my house most of the time as a result.) I'm not sure what my reasoning is for porcelain being creepy and resin being not, though. I've been to a local doll museum where they had many porcelain dolls and I didn't get weirded out there.

    15. Aww ~
I like him , he has personality !

    16. I'd kinda like that.
It would sort of feel like my dolls need to be loved at all times.
Something I could do easily ~

    17. YES YES YES!! This is a fun story :)

I put my boy on my nightstand one night, because I was way too tired to put him back in his box, and I forgot that I had put him down in a position where he was kinda looking at me while I slept...
      SO
When I woke up, he was looming over me and I thought it was a real person standing there... D8 and I kinda freaked out....

OH, and @Irmiel, I totally agree, porcelein dolls and baby dolls and things of the like are creepy little things o.0 I don't ever want one >.<

    18. Like alot of other people have said, my dolls do weird stuff all the time and it doesn't bother me. I have Second Sight and think of them as alive - and I know even if they actually had a person's mobility they'd never hurt me.

One example that always makes me laugh - I hope it's forum appropriate XD Rel has, um, rotating junk. I always put him and Mercy to bed spooning, Rel as the one in the back. About half the time when I move them in the morning, his equipment is, let's just say nooooot in the position I left it in XDD

    19. No. Never been spooked by my dolls or any other dolls. They just don't spook me.

I have to admit that very little spooks me. Some people are more sensitive to certain things than others and I know I'm not terribly sensitive to... dolls, for one thing. Or to paintings of people (some people think eyes are looking at them from paintings). Or to eyes of anything, really. (Hmmm... maybe a ratty old taxidermied animal on the wall might tend to creep me... but so far... no.)

Spooky weird stuff doesn't happen much to me. I have lived in haunted houses and gone on many tours through haunted sites--it just interests me, but I don't feel spooked. My friends, however, will get spooked and see things and all that. I don't disbelieve in such things, I just know I'm not sensitive that way (which is fine with me, really!). :)

    20. Nope, I've never been spooked by any doll in my life. My mom used to make porcelain dolls, maybe those dolls just didn't carry a bad vibe, because I always liked them as a kid. Though when I was a kid there used to be a shelf on the opposite wall from my bed, I kept old dolls that my mom had received from her dad when he traveled in Europe. At night when I was laying in bed those dolls looked like they were talking to themselves, it was just the light though. It never scared me, I really loved the toy story movie as a kid though.

With my BJDs, my dad tries to scare me. When I got Tadashi, At night I would leave him sitting on the kitchen table when I left, and when I came back his pose was always subtly different. My dad tried to act as if he never did anything, but luckily he's a horrible liar.

Oh... When my Ren came home, I got out our old camera to take pictures of her. The thing was working fine till I pointed it at her and then the screen went weird. It darkened and splotches of color would appear. It freaked me out at first, and the camera is still broken, but we've had it since I was in high school. It was just odd at the moment I pointed it at her it broke.
