Ever Been Spooked (Directly or Indirectly) By Your Doll?

Mar 1, 2007

    1. Haha I'm not afraid of them... my friends joke about Clarice stealing their organs while they sleep, but they love her really... :XD: She does have more 'life' than my other dolls, but I think that is just because she was my first, and I've projected a lot of myself onto her. So if she did come alive and turn evil, I don't know what that says about me...!!

    2. Actually, the opposite happened for me. I am a believer in the supernatural and my brother kept telling me my dolls would eat me in my sleep. Well, Mochi, my brownie, arrived first and she was the timidest and sweetest thing. Then when my 65cm Elias arrived, I was nervous, but the first night I had him in my room, I actually felt PROTECTED. His perch is on the cabinet that's slightly higher than my bed and when he sits, he watches my door as if to make sure nothing comes in. So despite being a supposedly villanous character, he can be protective of the people who put a roof over his head XD.

    3. I think I had an instance when I forgot I had Lex sitting on my TV stand and I saw his shadow out of the corner of my eye, but other than that, they don't scare me at all. And I'm not afraid of my dolls becoming demon possessed because I know it won't happen, but if it does, what am I going to do about it? It depends on the situation.

    4. I allways believed in the supernatura., just to put it like this. When I was little i too told mysealf that dolls protect me , and i used to believe they had a soul and they can understand what I`m saying^_-. Now...my boy is so lovely...I`d never imagine he`d somehow hurt me at night...now mi girl, she`s sweet to but I`m not as atached to her, so if one of them had to be possesed by evil she`d be the one, althought i luv her if that makes any sense..^___^

ohh..and sorry for my bad English..

    5. Hmm those are all good points. I haven't been afraid of my dolls since that instance and also like to think they could protect me. However, I don't know how successful my anorexic pretty crobiboy would be at being heroic...

But Oakie's reply made me wonder a NEW question...
If your dolls DID become demon possessed and try to kill you, what would you do?

LOL it's such a horrible random question, but I know we all love our dolls very much, and would we have the will to fight them off?

    6. never been scared off my dolls, sometimes my husband is a bit spooked by them, and i had relatives say that they wouldn,t spend the night with them in the room, wich i think is really insane! i love horror films and often look at one with my dolls, since they always sit in my livingroom, never been scared at all!

    7. I would be quite happy to invite some friends over, put the Doll Master movie on and then have them sleep in the same room as my dolls...
No, I'm not afraid of my dolls.

    8. my mind works in a very funny way and i often imagine everything that could go wrong or wonder what i would do if something scary happened. . for example last year as i was moving into a new house i decided to take a break and lay on the floor under a light. i thought "what if that pointy light fell and hit me in the head?" or when i go through the apple orchard late at night i wonder "would i be able to make it home in time if someone popped out from behind that tree and started chasing me?" i have these kind of thoughts all the time so i have wondered "what would i do if siren suddenly turned his head and looked at me?" those thoughts are enough to creep me out a little bit but i like being scared (my favorite activity is going to haunted houses) so its not anything that bothers me to badly

when i first picked siren up out of his box he kicked me and i wasn't scared. i laughed. so i have been afraid before but only because i play out scary situations in my head. i scare myself more than siren has ever scared me.

but i also call siren "sweet face" maybe ill be a little more frightened when i have some of my scarier dolls at home :)

    9. The only think that frightens me about my dolls is the thought that I might never stop buying them. I don't want to have so many that I might some day trip over a stack of their boxes and accidentally kill myself. ; )

    10. When I got my first doll stand and has one of my dolls set up in the livingroom facing me...I couldn't shake the feeling I was being watched. I kept looking over at the doll and her realistic brown glass eyes. It was unsettling even if I was consciously aware the doll was an inanimate object. I eventually turned her so that she faced the room but not directly at me. That seemed to help the problem.

    11. I was worried about being frightened by bjds too. When I was little, one of my relatives sent me a porcelain doll every year for Twelve Whole Years, and my mother hung them on the wall with hair elastics *_* Those dolls definitely frightened me.

With my bjd, even though she's 70 cm with her high-heel feet, and has long nails that could take someone's eye out, she seems so thoughtful in person that once I became accustomed to what her presence was like, I never felt spooked. Very occasionally I have had momentary waking nightmares about what being attacked by those long nails would feel like, but I know that is just me having morbid fancies.

    12. I am never afraid of my BJD's actually. However, I don't like my Blythes (non BJD asian fashion dolls) being near me when I sleep, whereas I like my BJD's around me all the time. I just think that even if they were able to do anything, why would they want to hurt the person who gave them a home?

      I love my dollies :)

EDIT: Sometimes I like trying to creep out my non-doll friends though, hehe. They're scared of my dolls

    13. I'm pretty much the same way. Except it's not questions, it's just the thought that maybe there's a dead, bloody body behind the shower curtain... I can be very horror movie. I find thoughts of dolls going on murder sprees more amusing than scary. Actually, a doll who's head moved on it's own would be so very amusing. Like a security camera in doll form.

    14. What, seriously? If I was scared of dolls, why would I own them? They're harmless inanimate objects.

    15. Nope, I think of my dolls as just an accessory to myself. Kind of a visual way to represent sides of me that I can't easily show to others. So, they can't scare me because then it would be the same as me being scared of me. However, I do think I scare people quite a lot so I can't say the same for others. xDDD

    16. Yes, it was my first doll, an Iplehouse Tatiana but I blame it on the eyes. I bought some acrylic orange eyes from dollmore because the picture looked gorgeous and I thought they'd stand out. I swear they were possessed or something and since that I'll never buy orange eyes. When she had them in she looked like... well... possessed.

*Note to self: post a pic when I get home :sweat*

She ended up planted face down on my pillow until I could stand to look at her again (it wasn't constant, one minute she'd been fine and the next she'd look completely psychopathic)

I changed the eyes eventually and she was fine after that but we didn't bond so I ended up sellng her anyway.

    17. I'm gonna have to go with "no" However, I once sliced my finger open taking a glass eye out of a doll's head, and there was a definite moment of "WHOA WTF HAPPENED" when I felt the pain

    18. You really must post a photo! I'd love to see these orange eyes in her.

    19. how did a glass eye cut you?!?!?! If it didn't have any sharp edged and was smooth THAT would be pretty freaky. Anyway, hope you're ok :)

    20. Anyway...no one's answering my new random question. If your doll WAS demon posessed would you have the guts/will to fend off your precious dollie?
