Ever Been Spooked (Directly or Indirectly) By Your Doll?

    1. Here's the image:
      [IMG]

      The longer you look, the worse it gets.

      Also, in reply to your new random question, if she came after me I'd take her eyes out, tie her up and put her in her box outside. Then I'd put her up for sale on the market place but warn people that if she tried to kill me. If no one wanted her I'd throw her away or give her to the fortune-telling shop nearby. That's if I didn't freak out and attack her instinctively :lol:
      (I plan ahead for these sort of events as you can probably tell)

      Although... if it was Vesper (my fave doll) I'd really struggle, I'd probably try to get him exorcised. And then be forever scared of him afterwards.

    2. They are quite piercing, aren't they! I've got an HZ boy Wangye who has luminous red eyes, and they're quite striking too. But those orange eyes with their black pupils could really hypnotize you! They're sort of giving me a headache!

    3. Half_A_Star, please don't sell any haunted dolls on the DOA marketplace! LOL!

      Yeah, I tend to be interested in stupid things so I've been tempted to get glow in the dark eyes...
      That would not help my paranoia though would it?!
      But they seem so cooooool!

    4. Haha I never thought of buying glow in the dark eyes!! Just another way to freak my boyfriend out :lol: ahhh fun times....

      Hmmm, okay, no haunted dolls on the market place ;) I'll try and remember that one!

    5. I find those dolls with the lifeless, blank stares to be extremely unsettling. Porcelain dolls tend to be that way to me. I do find some of the larger BJDs a bit creepy like that though. I think because they look a little too lifelike in some ways. The little ones don't bother me though.

      I creeped my friend the first time she saw my Pullips though. They were set up on their shelf, and looking whatever way they were set up, We talked a bit, then she stepped out to make a phone call. While she was gone I quickly made all their eyes look right at her seat, but made sure their poses weren't changed. She came back and for the next while kept glancing at the dolls oddly. When she stepped out again, I changed them all back. She came back again, and after another few minutes of uncomfortable looks, she finally got up, stomped over to the shelf, yanked one of them off, turned it all around until she found the levers. I then got a prompt "You *insert nasty word*". XD

    6. Not by my doll, but I went to a friends house and she asked me to put something on her top shelf. I opened the closet and there was a doll there! It was certainly surprising.

    7. This might make me sound completely insane, but if my dolls came to life, i would be SO HAPPY. I've always been a sucker for weird paranormal events, or mysteries and ghosts (i LOVE horror movies xD), so the idea of my dolls coming alive makes me all excitable XD
      Once i did have a small experience, i turned my dolls head in a particular angle for a photo, bent down to pick up my camera, only to find my dolls head appeared to have moved...it was looking straight ahead instead of at an angle!!
      I was a little confused but really intrigued!

    8. Lmao, i know what you mean!! I get scared by things but i like the fact that i'm being scared XD I'm terrible at Silent Hill games cuz they make me jump, but i still want to play them xD

    9. The day I left Yoru in my chair when I went to work, then came home to find him sitting on the floor when I came home had me a little concerned. Actually it kind of freaked me out a bit.

      Turned out my sister had come over to use my computer while I was gone and hadn't told me. ^_^;;

      Overall though, having the dolls here is something of a comfort. I live alone so it's kind of like I have company, and it keeps me from feeling paranoid most of the time.

      Now, if my dolls came to life with their own personalities, I don't think I'd be that intimidated. Frankly Yoru's not much of a threat, and Sage would probably hug me (then demand more clothes.) If they were actually possessed and became animated that way....I think I would probably have to run. >.> Lock the door and never go back. Horror movies are great and such, but real, ACTUAL demons are not something I want to mess with.

    10. omfg one time my friend spent the night and was afraid of my doll so i put her in my closet so she wouldnt be afraid, then i woke up in the middle of the night and my friend was gone and my doll was laying next to me, it turns out my friend went to get a drink of water and my mom just thought i might want to sleep with my doll, i was really scared lol and guess what, im 14!! HAHAHA

    11. I'd be more willing to believe that my dolls protect me from evil than the opposite :XD:
      Even my nastiest character that I have put into doll form and that I personally hate (I still have no clue why I created him in the first place) makes me feel very secure when I have him next to me.

      My first doll moves occasionally. Nothing big though, just a little head-turning and moving his arms because of his messed up stringing. Even that never actually scared me (and I am seriously afraid of any other kind of doll. It's still a mystery to me why I got into this hobby without any fear), it only surprised me when it happened for the first time. But as I said, it was clear to me what had caused it, so no supernatural - feeling here.

    12. Missimissi: I don't know if all glass eyes are like this, but the ones I have have a little bar sticking out the back that seems to have just been broken off, (like, I guess that's how they're made) and they're a little sharp. I can see how they might cut someone. D:

      The first day I had my doll I stood her on my desk while I worked and admired her for a while, but then I turned her so she was looking at me and I just couldn't concentrate anymore. It was a little freaky. She's sort of intense from some angles. XD;; But she's never REALLY scared me. She's pretty lovable really, not an unfriendly presence at all. I've been more scared by my favorite stuffed bunny. (After I read a story in which a kid's favorite teddy bear framed all her other toys doing bad things so she would get rid of them, leaving him alone with her. *A*;;; )

    13. Ooh fuzz.. I NEVER ever expected to fall in love with bjds so much.. Mainly because for most of my life... dolls freaked me out so much. Not even kidding.. I hated porcelain dolls.. They were so creepy to me. But somehow I don't find bjds creepy...

      We'll see when I actually get one and it's sitting on my dresser staring at me in the darkness while I'm trying to sleep. xD;

    14. I don't scare easily, but I've been scared by my dolls. I had a psychology teach tell me once that our brains don't register size in a threat, which is why we can be afraid of little things like spiders... Once I left my Kir (SSDF) sitting on the filing cabnet at work, then forgot he was there. 1/2 hour later, I glanced in his direction and got a little freaked out that some strange guy was behind the counter!

      The only other time was when I was holding my boy Lucien in one arm while talking to a friend. Out of the corner of my eye I was suddenly aware of a face very close to my own and I jumped, then realized it was just Lucien.

      Of couse I've had the shifting elastic thing, particularly with Merrown when he'll be sitting nicely by himself and then suddenly **** his head or lift his arm and freak out everyone I work with!

    15. My dolls don't really scare me, but Kaizer sure scared my girlfriend once! She'd watched The Grudge before I went over to her house for the night, bringing Kaizer with me. At the time he was wearing a long black wig, and we set him on the shelf above her bed for the night, sitting upright. We were up talking for a while, and she glanced up and nearly screamed! I couldn't figure out what was wrong, then she told me that she thought that Kaizer, who wasn't much more than a blob of white surrounded by black hair in the dark, was the girl from the Grudge coming to get her! We still laugh about it.

    16. I used to think that porcelain dolls and vinyl dolls would scare me. Especially the old antique ones but I've come to appreciate their beauty and I'm not easily spooked out anymore. Though I remember feeling uneasy when I went to visit the puppenhouse museum in Basel. It has the largest collection of antique dolls and teddy bears. While I was walking through the are and looking at the dolls, I just felt a bit spooked out because they were all just staring at you and some of them had really angry expressions on their faces, like they didn't like being trapped behind a glass without an owner to tend to them. The poor things.

      Anyhow, as for my dolls, they get a lot of attention from me and I'm sure they're as happy as a fiddle because none of them have ever spooked me out in a major way before and I always feel safe, relaxed and happy when they're around.

    17. LOL. No, I've never been afraid of my dolls. I love dolls and I've been a collector for years now and have never experienced anything that has made me fear them in any way. Right now, I have one of my dolls sitting next to me and we're watching the movie, The Unborn. I'm always watching horror movies with my dolls and I've never been spooked once. I think in a way they're more like a protective guardian than anything though because I really do feel so much better with them around and they always make me feel safe.

      There's been instances where I feel my dolls are jealous of each other when one's given more attention than the other but that's probably just my own feelings and active imagination coming into play.

      I have friends who think my dolls are evil and they look scary but that's because all they've ever seen are Barbie dolls and Ken dolls and aren't used to the beauty of BJDs. When I was a kid, my cousin told me that if you give attention to a doll that looks human, it will be possessed by an evil spirit and it will haunt you and that scared me for years until I grew out of that fear.

      My mom was scared of my doll at first because she claimed his eyes looked too real but now she's always just saying how handsome he is and what a cutie he is and she's come to like him, so given time, people will get used to them.

      It would be hilarious to have some friends over to watch Doll Master and have my dolls sitting on a shelf looking down at them though. Maybe during Halloween... xD

      ETA:

      I just read an interesting article about doll possession. It says dolls are usually never possessed but a spirit might attach itself to a doll and play with it. Which probably happens most with antique dolls since they're so old. Now that's a creepy thought.

    18. hmm, i kept mine (just Vin ^^) up in my room for a bit, but at night he would stare at me whenever i looked at him o-o so i felt like he was watching my every move and would tell everybody that i did something embarassing >< i almost half believe they have souls attatched to them ^^; but it adds to the fun of having a doll~ i moved Vin down tot he living room again for a bit, then he got a scratch on his face so i moved him back up along with everyone else too ^^; now, he wears a hood. the others are headless at the moment, and don't scare me as much!! o-o

    19. Haha. Yes... My dolls were all sitting on the edge of my desk, which faces my bed. This wasn't bothering me (obviously) and I went to sleep. Then I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, turned on the bedside lamp and freaked out when I found all my dolls staring at me. ...It creeped me out even though I put them there. Haha. I blame the fact that I was half asleep. xD;

      EDIT: Oh yeah. BJD are the only kind of dolls that I don't really find creepy. I can't sleep at my friend who collects porcelain dolls house. And I absolutely hate those clown dolls. They were really popular went I was a kid and always gave me the creeps.

    20. My Anju once creeped me out and I've no idea why. As I've been staying with my mate at his parents house, she's been with me too because she wanted to come to the most recent NYC Dollpa. His (our) room is a room that was made in the basement- completely furnished, though small even has it's own bathroom- the rest of the basement is unfinished. Anju currently sits atop a small (though oddly tall) end stand table, looking at the mass of action figures and models I'd set up on my mate's desk. Next to her stand and across from the desk is our bed and I sleep on the side closest to her. Now I deliberately put her facing the desk so that 1, she'd be entertained by the antics of the others on the desk when I'm not there (I imagine it'd be something like toystory, I'm a bit of a dork I know) and 2, because I know that my mate and I would be creeped out if she was facing the bed all the time, especially during private moments.

      One morning I found myself sleeping at the end of the bed, as I often do and for some reason when I peaked out of the blanket I swear Anju was looking at me out of the corner of her eye. I nearly thought she'd even moved a bit...but she didn't, at least not enough for me to go "Holy crap she moved!" Regardless it still creeped me out...Enough that I actually woke up and got out of bed and spent some time upstairs afterward. I blame the fact that it was the basement, full of electrical wiring and junk and the fact I was still half asleep and had a nightmare earlier that morning for it. I find that the basement room itself often creeps me out when trying to sleep.

      Now it is odd that it did appear she was staring at me because she has anime eyes that don't really 'follow' you around the room like other eyes tend to do. And her moving.... If she had actually moved (and wasn't me just half asleep paranoid thinking she did) I would probably be pretty scared to want to be around her as there would be no explanation for the movement- She's a dollfie dream II body, no strings that would randomly pop and move, no hooks... nothing that would normally explain random Bjd movement. >_>;; But I'm fairly certain she didn't, so I'm good.
