Ever Been Spooked (Directly or Indirectly) By Your Doll?

Mar 1, 2007

    1. ...I don't have my first doll yet (I'm putting her on layaway this friday), But The very first ball joint doll I had ever seen did scare me. Then again, when you're walking through a convention, and you see a very tiny woman in a kimono staring right at you and smiling, it could be a bit disturbing until you realize she's a doll... I've been slightly frightened my one of my friend's bjd's too. He's so beautiful, but I know his personality, and I'm afraid to pick him up, because I always feel like he'd hit me if he could ^^;

    2. I have a friend who has a pretty SD Limited Volks Chi. I am not scared of her but I am scared to hold her XD even though my friends like you will be ok.

    3. Did you create those personalities for them? That was really random XD I kinda wanna see them now haha!

All my doll sculpts are so innocent and gentle, however I just bought an elf assassin with a tortured soul...for no reason other than I had the urge to. I'm trying to convince myself that he wont creep me out when he comes in.

I try to make my dolls as cute as possible so they won't scare me, and yet for some reason I always end up buying them goth clothes, weapons, or glow in the dark eyes... I guess I myself have a really weird style that reflects off of them, after all my hobbies include picking pretty flowers, playing with kittens, and shooting zombies in the frickin face! (in video games I mean.... ...)

I'm not sure how I collect action figures from horror games/movies and proudly display them, and then somehow get afraid of cute shiny doll eyes now and then...

    4. The very first time i saw a bjd is on a horror movie called DOLL MASTER. I think they were so BEAUTIFUL its SCARY type. lol
So far there's only two people said its kinda creepy and stares at you. One is my fiance who right now get over it and even poses my doll for even taking great photos. And the second one is his friend that got traumatized by his relative antique doll collections.

    5. I did put some albino eyes in my Eujquiv hypermaniac and she looked TOO realistic. Too intense. She had them in about two days then I took them out because although they were really cool, it creeped me out!

    6. Hehe, it really takes a lot to scare me, but one time they did get to me. The pose and lighting was just right which gave Cosette the ANGRIEST look on her face and she was staring right at me. I was disturbed enough to reposition her and the red eyes certainly didn’t help.

    7. It happened to me once and it's couple of days ago......That was my second doll...I chose a white skin tone,so he's really white.Initially the eye colour for the full set was orange however the seller mailed me saying they ran out of stock so they asked if I wanted to change another eye colour...I thought orange and white tone doesn't match so I got the seller to choose a pair for me...
She sent me a pair of gray eyes...
Yet after I'm done with the eyes= =;; I dare not stare at his face straightly as I thought he looks fierce......It took me almost a week to finally accept him....Well I guess I'm dumb-_-;......

    8. I never understand why certain people are afraid of dolls. They say its their creepy eyes and stuff.
Also, I dont see why a doll would come to life and kill you. They have a good life - its better than being stuck in a box.

    9. I did try to "get" Clover to eat berries I suspected were poison (only because she is a faerie and no natural poisons can kill her, such as berries) her head turned (cause the string is a bit loose and it does that occasionally) and the shadows made it look like she gave me an angry look
then I got hit by a tree branch in the face trying to get my camera...

    10. When I was a small child there was a mexican -I think- soup on the tv about a lady who was kept in a room by herself, she had all kind of dolls on shelves around her room, they were all well keep and looked pretty (not bjd's though, I think porcelain). But in one scene the lady was killed in that same room and since then all the house begin to be haunted.
What freaked me out about that scene was that while the blood of the lady was spreading around the room -even on the dolls- the seemingle pretty dolls turn their heads at one side -like watching the murdering- and begin to close and open their eyes.
I was a little girl of 8 at the time and I was freaked out about my own dolls since then, my poor mom has to give away all of them because of that, and I really had a lot. Even now when I saw porcelain dolls my mind just recall that scene and it kinda disturbe me a little.
But even with all that, once I saw a picture of a dollfie for the first time, I wasn't scared at all, only amazed at how beautiful they were! I think having a dollfie has cured me of my childhood fears a lot XD.
And I saw the doll master movie also and the only thing I feel while I was watching it was how nervous I became at the scenes when the dolls were falling to the floor and being harmed!!! such beautiful dolls wouldn't be treated like that!!! by the end I was crying for the dolls T^T,....
There should be a dolls rights protection code or something...

    11. Speaking of ghost dolls... that phenomenon seems to only happen around dolls that have been previously owned. The person who owns the doll before imprints a part of themselves into a doll... or a spirit has been invited to reside in a doll.

I doubt a doll that comes straight from a factory has the contact necessary to have a spirit placed in it.

So can a doll become demon possessed on its own? Doubtful unless you yourself are demon possessed. It could become poltergeist influenced but studies have shown that those manifest from your own brainwaves. In other words they just about always show up in a household that has a teenage girl or in a household with someone about to discover their own psychic abilities. The brain affects the environment to make things happen. It's an interesting theory.

    12. You're not dumb. Just yesterday I had a similar experience. After sunset I looked at my beloved Sabik, and because of the angle he was laying and the shadows casting on his face, he looked like he was very angry with me. Coincidentally I had kept him in his box for 2 days right before this and that was the longest he's been put away since he got home. I sensed he was upset for being stuck in that box but his expression scared me so much I had to put him back in there for the night.

Anyway, I've seen lots of dolls who only looked creepy because of their eyes. But usually this is only the case with red/orange/yellow eyes. If you have a pic, I'd love to see the creepy effect the grey eyes had on your doll.

    13. Did you end up getting the pic though? I'd love to see it.

    14. Haha, I never knew this movie had actual BJDs, I just watched a quick clip now and it made me laugh instead of get scared. Does anyone know if there's been any other movies or popular media containing BJDs?

    15. Leloi. Out of curiosity, would you (or anyone reading this and interested) ever want your soul to be invited to reside in your doll(s) after death?
Sorry if this is a morbid question, but your post was really interesting.

Also, sorry I didn't group all my replies into one reply. Wasn't focusing XD

    16. That depends. Can I move?
It would be bothersome to be stuck in an object that cant move. You would probably be stuck standing for a looong time, staring straight at a wall or something haha.

    17. I hope I move on to the next plane, actually. ^^v

But because of my interest in dolls and the paranormal I have read up on ghost dolls. I have one... bought her online through ebay. Her name is Karen and she resides in a porcelain doll. She was the victim of a murder and invited to enter the doll by a psychic who promised to care for her until she was ready to "move on." Then the psychic's hubby said, "It's me or the dolls!" So some of them had to be adopted out.

I'm sure a psychic could use a BJD instead of a porcelain doll if they wanted to.

    18. Haha, what an eternity that would be.

I unno...I assume a haunted doll can do whatever the heck it wants like in the movies XD

I'm watching doll master now. That's not gunna make me scared of my dolls at the end is it? So far it looks really lame and lame horrors are fun. The dolls in the film don't even look old or like antiques (I think they're supposed to be). Especially not their clothes. I know a few horror mods out there that woulda made this film ten times scarier XD. Heck, I've seen dolls with sharpie ink on their faces that are scarier than these XD XD

    19. Oh dear, I finished watching the movie and now I'm a little worried I'll pour too much love into my doll and if I ever abandon it (on purpose or accidentally) it will try to kill me....

I should be old enough not to believe in these kinds of stories anymore DX

    20. Just get some handcuffs or stick it in a lock box before you go to sleep lol.
