Ever Been Spooked (Directly or Indirectly) By Your Doll?

Mar 1, 2007

    1. I've always had a fear of certain types of dolls (and clowns, so clown-dolls really creep me out!), and I'll admit that originally BJDs creeped me out too. However, since I got my first one, they've grown on me and I'm at the point that they don't creep me out at all. In fact, I sleep with five of my dolls right at the end of my bed - which I'm sure might scare some people, or at least might disturb them as I can see their outlines in the dark when I wake up in the middle of the night and look straight ahead, down the other end of my bed XD

    2. Well, I'm not scared of my BJDs. But other dolls (like porcelain or even some barbies) scare me. It's odd, seeing as most people are weirded out by BJDs, but not 'normal' dolls. I'm the opposite. I will admit that some BJDs (mostly ones that resemble clowns in any way.) really freak me out.... but that just might be my fear of clowns. ^^;

So no, BJDs do not scare me. And I'm sure that the effects of your nightmare will eventually wear off and you'll forget about it.

      :)

    3. I'm not scared of my BJDs - I also have them in boxes when I am not playing with them, so I don't have those moments in the middle of the night. But even if I had them out, I don't think I'd be scared of them if I happened to see them in the middle of the night. However, I used to be terrified of Barbies when I was little (I thought they would come alive while I was sleeping and feed me poison and kill me in my sleep lol) - while I am not scared of them anymore, I don't like them either.

    4. I have many issues with things being perfect when I am sleeping - wardrobe door has to be closed, and so do all the dresser drawers, I have to have my feet covered and I can't have any of my body off the bed. But amazing me and my partner, I could have my dolls standing over me staring at me, and I wouldn't mind - I don't know what it is, but my dolls just don't freak me out. But pretty much anything else will!

    5. I have a lot of the issues mentioned above, now that I think about it. Especially with having things perfect when I sleep and being afraid of porcelain dolls. I was afraid I would be seen as weird for being scared of my dolls a little, haha.

    6. I'm sometimes scared of my dolls: I own witch, ghoul, zombie and cyborg dolls, so even for dolls, they're scary. But they're SUPPOSED to be scary, that's how I want them to look, and when people are frightened of them, well, that's the desired effect so I'm not too bothered. Although sometimes it is a bit scary to wake up in the middle of the night, roll over and see what looks like a very small corpse staring at you in the dark :D I still love them though!

    7. huh... I've never had an issue with being scared, even when they do watch me. But, could be due to the fact that I'm rather sure my porceline doll has a spirit and so I've used to it. You just treat them with respect and affection and it's all good ^.^

I prefer the fact that my dollies seem more... life like at times, or sem to move on their own. Makes me feel a little less crazy when I talk to them.

    8. No, I'm not.. I have a beautiful ghostly looking girl.. who really scares the hell out to most of people I know XD cause she seems real and Dead -.- yeah..that's what they think.. however this makes me happy.. that's what i want ..she must be scary :D
but no, i'm not scared of her at all.. i love her and I sometimes sleep with her in front of my bed and me.. i put her on a chair in sitting position so she can look at me XD
and when i see her in the night light i have in my room , i can feel her staring at me.. i can see the light of her eyes and in my mind i imagine her moving and looking around.. that would be awesome to me XD
is she could be haunted or something XD
however she has a real strong presence by her own.. but nothing evil.. so i feel really confortable having her near to me! ^^

    9. Except for one incident of trauma as a kid with a child-sized walkign doll, I had not problem wit them. Had other kinds of dolsl before bjds. BUt when I first got Barron home, he freaked me out. It's not the height, it's the height plus proportion that can be scary,a dn all my friends say he's pretty yet creepy. :) Oddly enough, takign his head cap off helped. Like, see, it's just an empty bit of resin. I've grown accustomed to him. He hangs out in the front room where the other dolls are so he won't be lonely. :) But I do some lap time every now and then.

    10. When I first found out about ABJD's I was slightly worried that
they would creep me out because I wasn't a doll person even
as a child, but I wanted one bad enough to overlook the concern.
Then at the beginning of this year I bought a doll off the MP &
almost immediately had a nightmare about her that was so scary
I promptly handed her over to my Mom since she really liked her.
It's safe to say I won't be buying more secondhand dolls anytime soon.

edit: the doll was not my first doll XD

    11. I'm never afraid of my dolls, but I always have nightmares about them melting or falling apart into a bunch of pieces.

    12. Porcelain dolls and Clown dolls are kind scary when i see them i want to smash them!!! (but i wont do that be assure)

    13. I'm just a little scared. I used to always have Gunther in my bed. I ended up stopping 'cause I was afraid I would break him. I set him up one night facing me. I looked over at him in the middle of the night and for a second all I could see was his face. It scared me enough that he has to be lying done when I go to sleep and be covered by a cloth.

    14. Sometimes I walk in my room and I kind of stop and stare at my doll Veniam. He always seems to be looking at the door, no matter how often I move his head to the side. It's slightly frightening ^^;
I also don't like it when Vespillo seems to be staring at me out of the corner of his eye at night. It's my own fault for how I have his eyes positioned, but it's still kind of creepy. My other two dolls do not ever scare me though.

I used to be DEATHLY afraid of dolls as a child. I would throw every doll given to me directly in the garbage. And I used doll accessories on my teddy bears. When I went to a friends house for a sleep over, I would force them to put their dolls in their closet, and then I'd barricade the door. xD I don't really know what happened, because when I saw BJDs, my fears all vanished. It was really quite magical.

    15. I'm not afraid of them. I keep them next to my bed at night, and cover them in a bandanna to protect from sunlight (I sleep late). They'd be in bed with me if I weren't afraid I'd throw them in my sleep (happened to my pillow once...) As soon as I get up, they do, and even though I've inexplicably found dirt on Ichabod's leg one morning, I just said to myself, "he must've been out chasing squirrels or something" and cleaned him up. I get too fascinated to be scared when I see a headless/disassembled doll XD I wonder if any of this would be different with a gore mod.

I am a bit weirded out by porcelain dolls, oddly. I collected them for a while, still have them, but I can't keep them on my headboard anymore. I used to wake up with one on my pillow, oh-so-perfectly placed, and no idea why or how she got that way. 0.o; That was a bit freaky, and off to the bookshelf they went XD

    16. I've never been afraid of dolls.

Very few things scare me, actually.

People are scary, but not things...

    17. I'm generally not afraid of anything that is not alive and/or cant move. (More scared of storms than dolls)
If my doll were to change locations during the time I am asleep or out of the room she is in, I'd just go poke the other people in the apartment, asking what they were doing with her.
It may just be my limited imagination or inexperience with doll horror movies, but dolls or clowns just dont look scary at all to me.

    18. Haha I think all dolls are creepy but I love creepy things. Porcelain dolls really get to me though, that's why I stick to resin. Although my dolls don't sleep in my room just because I get a little weird-ed out sometimes.

    19. No. I believe that if you are kind to your dolls, stuffed toys and other kinds of toys they will protect you. They are the ones who "protect" me when I am asleep. :3 Though Mii-tan is pretty scary when she is angry. >.<

    20. Hmmm...I can't say I am afraid of any of my BJDs. I did have a doll as a child that freaked me out. She was bought for my by my grandmother - a vintage doll from the 50s I think. She freaked me out because her eyes would follow me and every now and again they would be open when they should have been closed, a sleeping eye doll...She definitely creeped me out, not sure where she is, I think she is in a box at my Mom's and she can just stay there, thank you ;)
Love my BJDs though, no creepies there for me but I can definitely relate to a certain doll maybe giving his/her owner the willies.
