Ever Been Spooked (Directly or Indirectly) By Your Doll?

Mar 1, 2007

    1. I think i may have a heartattack if that happpened to me Raine Delmont...O.o Seriously im suprised u didnt run out
of there xD but luckily you realised it wasnt ur doll haha :P then again when i think about it if i wouldn't be too busy being
frightened i would probably just say "I love you too ^__^" xDDD haha I can safely say though that my doll has yet
to scare me though I have a feeling that it may just happen loool its just my luck but seriously this was a great little
      tale to tell :P x

    2. The only time I've been creeped out by one of my dolls was thanks to a nightmare I had. I think I must have been feeling subconsciously guilty that I'd stuck another doll's head on my vampire elf Yder, because that night I had a horrible dream in which his head started flying after me by flapping its elf ears, and the face distorted into this hideous vampire monster thing with a mouth full of razor teeth. The whole ears flapping thing sounds ludicrously funny, but in the dream it was terrifying. The following morning I felt uneasy simply being around his head, and in the end I wrapped it up in bubble wrap, sealed it in a box, and I put it up for sale the next day.

That's the only time anything like that has ever happened to me though; thankfully I get no negative vibes off any of my other dolls.

    3. I'm spooked on a fairly regular basis by my dolls! Sometimes I will just be watching TV and minding my own business and I will glance over at them (they all hang out together on another part of the couch) and convince myself that one of them is looking at me funny. :o Other times one of them will just randomly fall over and that always startles me.

They are so lifelike looking that I can freak myself out any time I focus on them for too long!

    4. Hmm..... When I get nightmares of something, I will be terrified for the next week or so to the point where if I think about it, I can't move and I break into a cold sweat, and can't be in a room alone, etc.

It usually passes though in a month or so. =/ Maybe stash your doll in your closet like another user said, and wait until the vivid memories of the nightmare pass.

    5. I can only think that selling a doll for a reason I don't like would be for monetary need. If it was on one hand keep the doll, on the other hand pay the rent, I guess I'd have to sell the doll. But that would be really really sad.

    6. My friends and I always said that we would never sell a doll (we're silly, we think it would hurt their feelings!). However, I've now sold a couple, just because sometimes it doesn't work out.

It isn't 'wrong' to sell a doll for any reason. I would give yourself a good long time to think about it before you do, but if that's what feels right to you- that's it, plain and simple. Anything that makes handling the dolls an unhappy experience for you is a good enough reason.

If hiding the doll away doesn't work, you might try changing out eyes and wigs for a couple of days, changing clothes, moving them around, clean the space they're kept in...give them a mental 'breath of fresh air.' Shake up how you think of them.

    7. I don't remember if I commented on this or not...

But yes, I do get easily spooked. My doll's eyes look like she has a soul and they're about to look into my soul. It's... spooky. I can't explain it other than that.

    8. Yes.. >.>"

It isnt a horror 'supernatural' story. But the first night i got her i set her on my windowsill. I always keep my blinds halfway open at night because i enjoy looking out at the trees in our backyard. ANywho, she was on the windowsill and the streetlight was just glowing behind her and she was just...staring. Plus she's white resin which makes it uber creepier

But now i'm attached to her and she doesnt scare me :D

    9. I can't recall a time where my dolls ever spooked me, but Hansel has creeped my girlfriend out on several occasions. He wears all white along with a white wig so he has this weird tendency to stick out, even in darkness because of our super bright alarm clock. At one point, he unnerved her to the point where she had to sleep on the other side of the bed so she couldn't see him because he reminded her of a ghost. Mind, this was after she'd just finished beating a scary-as-hell boss battle that involved encountering every soldier she killed in the game, but I could definitely see it... and actually, I thought he looked pretty neat. :I

    10. Luckily, I've never experienced this one yet..and I hope I won't

    11. Yuck! I hate scary stories...
I think I can stand dolls, though. For one thing, I'm prepared for it because of all that I've read here, and I've also kept a "porcelain" (not very real) doll in my room for some months already. It doesn't bother me, and I've never really been scared of dolls.
On the other hand, when they move on their own... ;;-.- I think that'll scare the shit out of me a few times when I get mine. Especially seeing how I love to pose them with their head tilted... ;;;;XD

    12. Tovi has never spooked me in this way (though my husband has tried by quickly posing him differently than I left him when I leave the room) but I used to have this clown doll that laughed and it had the most psychotic laugh you've ever heard and it started laughing without pressing it's stomach, which scared the crap out of me. :sweat Especially when its hand would fall off and it would laugh maniacally for a couple minutes when no one was touching it.

I think hearing "I love you" whispered in the dark when I just put my doll in that room wouldn't probably spook me, though. But short of that I don't really spook easily. I slept with a knife wielding Chucky doll next to my bed for years.

    13. Hmm spooked directly: I think no.
Indirectly? Well, not really but I was a bit irritated when I took my Tiny Fjaer out to the mall. I had her in her small wooden box in my bag and when I walked around and unintentionally rattled a bit on my bag I heared this small, quietly , girl-like scream near me. I was so irritated at the moment I thought for the first few seconds it was Fjaer xDD Then I thought it could have been a child somewhere near me.... there weren't any children near me perhaps a bit farer away. But it was irritating.
Then I went on and saw a dead crow on the street (I'm a animalloving person) and stand there for a little moment when I heard a knock out of my bag like something would knock on wood... but my Fjaer can barely ever move in her box so it was the second really irritating thing. Not really scary but weird.....

    14. I've been spooked by those cheap suit of armors before. Suit of armor as tall as you, blacked out room and total silence? Yeah....

*wakes up, wide eyed* Ahh....Kihona.....aaah haha...you tried to scare meee.... *sip* ew...morning rum..... *goes back to sleep* I love yous....zzz

That's about the extent my doll has spooked me.

    15. Yes I am very spooked by Karma. She doesnt have her face up anymore. She is very ghost like.

    16. Well no not really. I did wake up one night after a really spooky dream in which (this is the strange part) a woman called me asking to do a survey about *insert youghurt brand here* when I refused she put a curse on me and my dolls (Told you this was strange) so I went over to my dolls, my YoSD; Shilo was crying , like proper crying, and her facial expression completely changed which of course scared me as she has a little happy smile. And Zelda, my MSD was crying and for whatever reason covered in blood. I flipped out. And then my sister threw my dolls out of the room, breaking them in the process..I then called the youghurt woman back and she undid the curse.... :) hahah!! I have such strange dreams. I woke up thinking all my dolls were broken. Oh the dream also involved my first SD Boy (that is on the way) being dressed as the Joker being human sized hugging me whilst I was crying... I was so confusedd!! O_o; Hahah!

    17. Not necessarily scared but creeped out. I bought some Light blue pupil-less (ghost) eyes for my doll as well as a silvery grey wig and made her a long, billowy, plain white dress. In regular light she looks pretty scary but I also have a black light in my room which, when turned on, causes her eyes to change from blue to purple. Her dress also glows purple in the black light. Not that that part is scary, it's your typical black light effect, but if I look at her long enough she seems to stare back at me and I find myself glancing away and getting a chill up my spine. :shudder
I wish I could take pictures of what she looks like under the black light to show in the gallery.

    18. I don't own a BJD yet (still saving for one), but I've gotten so used to my toys moving on their own that I probably wouldn't notice.

Plus, BJD's are actually one of the few dolls (besides porcelains, Barbie's, etc.) that don't scare the stuffing out of me.

    19. Okay, so, my friend moved 8 hours away from where she normally lives to come live with me and after about a month or so, she was kind of weirded out because someone had broken into her mom's truck and didn't steal anything, but the package her mom was going to send to us had been messed with. Her dad is kind of over-protective and really friggin crazy, so we thought it was probably him. Later that night at like 1 in the morning she went outside for...some reason, I don't remember why. But she went outside and we have this shed about 20 ft out into the yard. There's random animal cages sitting outside of it, and something knocked it over and made a loud clanging noise. Then she heard something running away. She came back inside all freaked out so we had my brother and his friends scope out the house but they decided to be stupid and make up some story about seeing someone -.- Anywho, the next night or so, we were watching ghost shows on the tv in the living room (yes, I know..but believe me we weren't just freaking out) and Scilla (my friend) left to go to the bathroom real quick. While she was gone I heard footsteps up in the attic and the fan started creaking. I thought maybe I was just freaked out but when Scilla came back I told her to be quiet and then we heard the footsteps a few more times. We instantly thought it was her crazy ass father so we hid from windows and stuff and we went to the back of the house into my room. When we got in there, there were random manga books pulled out on the shelves, one of my deathnote books was pulled out and turned upside down, and it took us awhile to notice, but all of my dolls heads were turned looking in different directions than I had had them posed before, and no one had been home all day. Creepy!

    20. yes but even if i say it no one will believe me
