Ever Been Spooked (Directly or Indirectly) By Your Doll?

Mar 1, 2007

    1. yes D: he's staring at me right now! LOL

Twice I sold a doll cause they freaked me out! LOL

    2. My dolls sit directly across from me, but I turn their heads so that they're not staring at me. Unfortunately, they're turned towards the door, so it sometimes freaks me out when I see one of them looking directly at me when I come in.

    3. I am frightened by many things, the dark, ghosts, escalators, those weird re-born dolls but not my dolls. I like having them around to keep me company. I even sleep next to one. Right now Alex is sitting on the desk next to me "watching" as I type. Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

    4. I don't get scared by my lot, I love them too much :3

I did used to be scared of porcelain dolls when I was small (and I still am now!). I used to collect them when I was about 8 or so, as my Nan used to buy them for me, however one day a kid at school told me a story of a porcelain doll that was kept on the stairs, and each night it fingernails grew and it went up a step, until one night it murdered everyone in the house. D:

My friends get scared by my dolls though, one of them came to stay the night and she is PETRIFIED of dolls (after watching a film called Doll House I believe?) so when she came round, she wouldn't even go in my room. Even if I boxed them up and put them under my bed, she still wouldn't come in :P

    5. My doll Alessa spooks me all the time. She is quite a timid girl, but is very curious by nature. It seems she likes to kick me and fall. Often I find her fallen over, kicking me, or lunging at me. I have recently gotten over the surprise attacks.

    6. When I'm laying in bed, the first thing I see on my desk is the side of the dollhouse.
I mostly put my Pukipuki Pongpong in the dollhouse, in a tiny little cute bed. The bedroom is on the opposite side of the dollhouse, so I never get to see her when I wake up.

And about a week ago, I got scared when I woke up and saw my doll staring at me, through her dollhouse window... Man, I got freaked out! She was staring right at me!

Afterwards, my mother told me she had moved my doll to the living room of the dollhouse. She thought it would be fun if I saw the doll looking at me. I didn't notice that she had moved the doll, so that scared the hell out of me when I woke up. XD

    7. I've never been spooked by any of my dolls, and I'm pretty easily spooked. I can have any of my dolls sit and stare at me without feeling freaked out. They all have very calm expressions ^_^ If I did get spooked by a doll, I would have to sell it.

    8. None of my dolls concern me. They are.. more protective and loving than anything. Although for a while my fiancee felt weird. He used to get out of the shower go into the bedroom and i would hear across the house. " HONEY THEIR STARING AT ME" >.> i told him to get dressed.... but, he really likes them all and it looking into getting his own... -.- maybe he will stop playing with mine....

however i am NOT a big porcelain doll person at all... no thank you......I don't have any, i won't get any.... i would refuse one as a gift even.

    9. I have gotten spooked before.. But not incredibly bad or anything. I will notice that their heads are turned in a way that is kind of creepy looking before so I end up reposing them. Usually I have my dolls not looking directly strait out. I have them looking slightly towords the ground so that I do not have anyone come over and think they are even more creepy than they think they are. I have had like flashes of light shine over there or shadows that freak me out and I imediatly look at the dolls for some reason.. but thats what I get for having the shelf right by a window that looks out to the driveway of my apartment complex. Other than them slight things though I usually do not get spooked to bad.

    10. No, my dolls don't scare me! I think it is partially because I have a full size mannequin in my room (though she is not detailed) and a large bust/neck/head mannequin (who is very life-like). The bust never freaked me out but when I first got my life size mannequin, though she isn't detailed, she was in my room for about 10 minutes before she was put into storage. I would jump whenever I saw her!
Strangely, once I got my dolls I brought her back and she hasn't scared me since! Maybe my dolls have helped?

    11. My doll don't scare me as such, but I don't like to get changed in my room if she is out of her box. It makes me feel very uncomfortable, like there was an actual person watching me. I either have to put her back in the box or put a cloth over her.

    12. Every now and then my husband or son will move one of my dolls and I'll find them where I wasn't expecting. Sometimes when I'm playing with them I'll think I see them moving out of the corner of my eye, usually right before they take a header. One time right after I got Aisling she fell from my headboard while I was sleeping and I just about had a heart attack when I woke up and she was laying there looking like she'd been murdered. Luckily nothing was broken, but it was a little panicky for a second.

    13. Placing my Ys beside the bed and have him topple on me in the middle of the night, best time was when my friend came for a sleepover and had him fall on her too.

I myself is never spooked by dolls but my friend has doll-phobia hahaha.

    14. Mine don't spook me in the least. They actually kind of comfort me, like my little watchers. :-)

My husband on the other hand prefers them in their room or in their boxes. He can't sleep if they're in the bedroom. ;-) And, yeah.... I must admit to sometimes sneaking them in and sitting them on his night stand! hehehe evil I know.....

    15. I have not been spooked by mine as of yet. I actually position him so that he is looking at me or looking at the same thing I am usually. Sometimes I even leave him like that right next to my head when I'm sleeping. It makes me feel comfortable and less alone to have him staring at me all the time. I'm kind of absent minded so if he was in a different pose than I left him because his arm fell or something I might not even notice.

About the closest I have gotten to being spooked by a bjd is the first time I saw the weird and mildly creepy expression one of my friend's dolls has when I look at her from below. It looks like she wants to kill you. Mostly because I only noticed it when I was taking a picture and I was like AHHH creepy picture. But it was kind of funny at the same time. But with just a little movement of her head she's beautiful again.

    16. Headless dolls always seem to scare me a bit. When I have to remove my dolls head for a long time, I usually put away it's body so I don't have to see it just standing there without a head. xD Other than that, I've never been too spooked by them. c:

    17. I've been spooked, but it was my own fault. I had Chesh apart for about a month, as I had been sanding down his slightly yellowed body, and the work was going very slowly. I had a dream that he was angry about being neglected for so long, and came up the stairs to get me! I kept the body wrapped in a towel, then in a closed box for the rest of the time I was working on him, lol. I finished the project and he and I are on good terms since that event.

    18. yes it has happend to me as well. kimiko was sitting on the table and i was trying to brush her hair. it was a pain cuz she moved a lot causing her eyes to change place and when i turned her it was like......u have startled the witch!!!!!!!!!:o:?

    19. Ye! There was one time i left Ferris in the kitchen on the computer table then walked away, then when i came back she was sitting in the living room...
My dad likes to mess with her to make me mad, ha ha xD

    20. Once, and only once, my Doll Leave's Wish gave me a very, very strange look that sent my heart pounding for whatever reason. He has some really nice 12mm golden-yellow eyes that are perfect for his character, and i guess it might have been my current mood plus the lighting that caused it but he has never scared me since and it's all good.
