Ever Been Spooked (Directly or Indirectly) By Your Doll?

Mar 1, 2007

    1. I always, ALWAYS, without fail, end up getting spooked my my dolls if I move them. It takes me a long time to get used to their new positions because I'm super forgetful, so when I catch a quick glimpse of them my brain always goes "ZOMGWTF THERE WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ANYTHING OVER THERE WTF IS THAT" before I notice exactly what the shape is and go "Oh, it's just one of my dolls."

      *supreme doofus*

    2. I was just spooked my one of my dolls. I accidently left my TV on when I left my room but had shut off all the other lights. When I came back, and opened my door I saw a humanoid silhouette on my bed. Made me jump before I realized it was just one of my SDs.

    3. No, I have never been scared or creeped out by dolls. I love them all and know they are dolls.

    4. I don't get creeped out by my dolls, but sometimes pictures of other peoples dolls freak me out a little.

    5. Every once in a while (ok, pretty frequently), I carry off one of my local friend's DD, and in the low light, at night in the bedroom, her eyeshine reflects like her eyes are glancing and moving. I can't keep her in the bedroom at night!:atremblin

    6. lawl i'm an RMT, so i have this portable table for when i work on family members. I had it set up in my room recently and, for lack of space due to it, I had one of my SD guys sitting on it. when my brother's girlfriend was visiting, she walked by my bedroom and paused, before telling me that he was scaring her because he looked like he was staring into her soul XD when i went to look, i myself was creeped out. He'd tilted in such a way to look as though he was leaning o one side, peering around the door with utter disgust. so i closed the door XD later that night i'd forgotten he was there and swung my door open only to find his disapproving stare. made me jump slightly. Then the next day one of my friends was over and their boyfriend also got creeped out by Abe XD so i have since moved him.

    7. I wouldn't be spooked or creeped out by dolls :sweat, I don't see anything scary about porcelain dolls either :P. But entertaining thread!

Thank goodnessss I have never really watched scary, horror, etc movies! =P

    8. When I got my first doll, I had her for around two weeks and she didnt creap me out. But a few days later I looked at her while walking around the room and she looked like she was following me. I freaked out but found it cool at the same time. So now all 5 of my dolls do it.

I just think they are freaky but lovely at the same time.

    9. Not yet so far, at least not in the actual spooky sense. I've been surprised to see one in a place I didn't expect her when someone else moved the dolls around, but that's all so far. Normally I'm quite happy to see them!

    10. most BJDs don't creep me out, thankfully, but porcelain dolls do o_o That's why there are some sculpts I could never own, they just remind me of them too much...

    11. It wasn't my BJD that scared me but!
When I was younger I had a porcelain doll that sat on a shelf across from my bed. (one of those dolls that move when you crank them up) So i'm sitting up in bed at night the thing moves. Just starts playing out of the blue. Shamefully, I passed out and found out the next day my brother was messing with it earlier that day.

    12. My doll doesn't really scare me, but I do have porcelain geisha figurines in my room (think pretty grudges haha). Those scared my friends but I only have my one BJD and my bf doesn't mind her but sometimes the eyes freak him out haha!

    13. Recently, It was the day I got my newest doll, my first sd. I put her in a chair I had bought for her and left her in it on the floor while I went out. When I got back and saw her I was like "ZOMG What is that!" But then I remembered, oh yeah, thats my new doll >.< I forgot all about her! She is white skin so it looked freaky.

    14. I've been spooked a few times by my CP Luwen. He's got huge eyes, and sometimes when the light is right, they reflect in a creepy sort of way. I just move his head though, and all is well. The only other time my dolls give me the willies is if I'm getting ready to go to sleep and find that some of them are staring at me. For some reason, there's something unnerving about something (resin or not) staring at you while you sleep. At least for me, haha.

    15. I admit I've been spooked by my Leekeworld Irene. She came with these really lovely blue glass eyes, and so I put them in her. Over time it occasionally felt like she was looking at me with disaproval. I know it's crazy, but these eyes are very good at following you around.

    16. Porcelain dolls unnerve me, I could never sleep in the same room as one that's for sure.. I have no worries about my BJD though, he sits very nicely on my shelf by my bed. :)

    17. Last night my doll scared me. I had my doll resting against the wall up in my bed. I had forgotten he was there and when I turned my laptop off (the room light was already off), I could faintly see a face at the end of my bed. It scared me until I realized it was just the doll.

Sometimes its a little creepy if I have them sitting there and their heads are at just the right angle from my location that it looks like they are staring right at me.

    18. I don't really get scared by my dolls, but my bf seems to have a phobia for them or something > < He says the eyes look like they're following him and it creeps him out :x He doesn't even want to be in the same room with my SD13 xD. But because he's a really good bf, he bought me a dolly anyway as an x-mas present. I think the greater gift is that he won't make me lock them up anymore. xD

    19. When I first got my SDF Thanos and put eyeballs in him, I swear to everything that is holy that no matter where I was in the room, his eyes looked like they were looking right at me.

I'd walk across the room and glance over at him and he was still looking at me.

I'd stare at him as I walked by, and his gaze would follow me. :aeyepop:

None of my other dolls give me such a creepy feeling. It must be how his eye holes are carved, because swapping his eyes for another color/size pupil/etc. didn't solve the problem.

Needless to say... he pretty much stays in his carrier bag all the time now. :shudder

    20. I've only ever been genuinely spooked by my dolls twice, and both times it was for the same reason (though with different dolls).

Each time it happened, I'd had them in some kind of position with an arm up, then I wandered off to do something else and sometime later I saw the arm lower on its own. Of course I knew it was just gravity making the arm fall, but for a split second, out of the corner of an eye, it felt like they were suddenly moving on their own, and it freaked me out.

Only for a second, though. .^^
