Ever Been Spooked (Directly or Indirectly) By Your Doll?

Mar 1, 2007

    1. oh my gods!!! i think i would have slept in the hall.... or left...
i understand that you couldnt make things worse for the bride but wow...
      glad they didn't attack you.

you had me at dithering idiot. i bring my tiny to work with me and sit her by my mouse.. our receptionist asks if i've brought any of my babies with me, every day... and the way she says it.. weirds me. i'll have to tape record it for all of you.
      :shudder

    2. My boy poses really well and sometime I like to stand him on my floor in the middle of my room and sometimes I'll leave him like that and go off and do something else forgetting about him so when I walk back in my room I'm startled to find him there staring at me or whatever and then I realize I made him do that ^_^ I freaked out my mom once cuz I left him peaking from behind the door...I thought it was cute but she said it was like he was trying to escape

    3. My fam fam never scares me. But their expressions change because they're so moody. ^w^;;;

    4. I haven't got my doll yet, but I've had some really odd experiences before.

And - honestly - the "Angel Room" story is FRIGHTENING. O__O

I've really only had one strange experience off the top of my head with porcelain dolls. I live in a small, touristy kind of town, with lots of old shops in the historic district. One of them is a little shop that sells dishes, stuffed animals...and in one section, dolls.

Now, I have a flaky relationship with porcelain dolls. For YEARS, my uncle would send me a doll a year, at Christmas. I got used to it. ^^ It was nice, though I didn't really display them or anything.

Still...when I went in this shop, I felt...strange. Kinda nostalgic for no reason. I found myself wandering over to the dolls, and I just looked at them...and I SWEAR I could hear music box music or something. Sounded like something...old. I felt drawn there. Just stood there until I left the shop.

I really wanna go back and take another look. It was eerie, but...peaceful.

    5. rjladya: Once the house got quiet we were afraid to move. (Like in all the horror movies when they get up to check out the "mysterious sound" and get munched/slashed/vanish. We were NOT gonna be that! XD ) And it was the groom we were worried about. The bride was a basket case. XD And, for the receptionist: If the way I hear it in my head is the same as what she really says, then I wouldn't be leaving my dolls alone in the same room with her. XD CREEPY!

    6. XD The only time I freaked my dad with her was when I had Renia sitting in the chair next to mine. We were watching HP4 and my dad came in to sit down... on my doll. o.o I screamed and he jumped and screamed. XD She was safe, though.

    7. I've had dreams about a place like that! Gah. o.o; Except, when I've been there in my dreams, some of the dolls look like members of my family and all... Creepy dream to me, though, not all that peaceful.

But still... music? It would be eerie, but if it's peaceful then you should go back and have another look. ^^

    8. I had one strange experience with Astoroth. I had being playing with him all day and posing him, his elastic had twisted up inside him. I put him back in his box and covered him with his blanket. I the middle of the night I heard a strange creaking noise coming from the box. I went over (in the dark) to investigate and he sat bolt upright!! I nearly pee'ed myself LoL. I sort of sleepily told him not to scare me like that again, untwisted his elastic and took him to bed with me. I felt a bit better when I hug him. He hasn't done it since :)
I had a porcelain doll some years ago that was "inhabited" by a spirit. I will never say possessed, because it sounds so negative. Saying that the doll did have a negative affect on some people  . I got her from a friend of my aunts who was a psychic medium. She just told me that we were supposed to meet. I had no idea what that meant, I was only 8. One day my friend visited me(she was a nasty bully) and she was really horrible to me. I left the room to clean up a cut she gave me and when I returned the my friend was white as a sheet. She said the doll called her a effing b**ch and told her to get out. I never saw that girl again:sweat
My parents said there was an aura about that doll, you could feel it was watching you. I never got any bad vibes from her, but I decided that she needed to go to a place where she would be safe. I believe she lives with another psychic now.
Since then I've been researching haunted dolls. I would love to come across an "inhabited" BJD. It would be fascinating to see what kind of energy would attach to it (elemental-normally negative energy from bad feelings in an atmosphere, spirit-from a deceased individual, demonic-obviously demon ect...). maybe one day.....

    9. Does dreaming count?
      If so, then yes.
Lately my new doll haunts me in my dreams, I dunno if I've got to like it or not because the dreams itself aren't that bad, it's just that it makes me scared AFTER the dream.

    10. agreed :)
i started buying bjd's because they don't sare me, i had one of those dolls that when you tilt her back her eyes close when i was a kid. she was perfect blonde hair blue eyes frilly blue dress and she scared the hell out of me. i thought her eyes were empty.
my bjds kick, turn their heads, squirm when i try to dress them and i find myself telling whichever one i am dressing at the time that they are more squirmy than my one year old son and why cant you just stay still? :) but from one resident evil fan to the other.... ROCK! i want to get sylvanas a sybil uniform.

    11. Hmm... Well, something like that happened to me when I was with Thackery one night. Nowadays, he has a nice little spot on my dresser saved just for him, but he used to sleep on my bed. Once, I was about to drift off into sleep when I thought I heard a guy say, "You snore." I fell asleep though since I was really tired. The next morning, his head was turned toward me and he was glaring. *_* I would have thought it was scary if I harbored any fear towards him. Since I didn't, I just laughed and told him I'd give him earplugs next time.

The other times... He moves on his own. For instance, I set him on the dresser most of the time. Nobody's at home during the day usually, but I find him sitting somewhere different when I come home sometimes - as in, he'll be on my bed or something. That spooks me a little because I had a cloth doll that used to do the same, only she was a very malicious thing.

    12. this is so strange, the first day that my Bee-A Remy was put back together she creeped me out. but heres the story, she had been dissasembled for months and i only had my Shiwoo and my Too assembled and they had been sleeping in my room for a long time. then i decided to give remy a faceup and put her back together and i loved her to bits again and we bonded the whole day, but then when i was going to sleep i noticed there wasnt enough room in my Shiwoos box for the three of them, so i made her a bed in a DoD carrier with it unzipped and placed it under the shelf where Jude and Kay were sleeping. so, i was in bed but for some reason i
felt uneasy inside, and my heart was pounding so rapidly and i knew it was Remy. but i didnt know why it was making me feel so uneasy to have her sleeping in my room again. it was seriouslsy creepy, i felt a negative vibe coming from her as i tried to sleep, but i couldnt get rid of my feeling so my mom took her out and she slept in her room. and i was happy ^_^
but now shes dissasembled again and i dont want to re-live that feeling when shes back together O_O

    13. Uuuuuu, thsi thread is scaring me, I had to turn on the light. u___u I can't even finish reading it. ;__; *crie*

    14. this one's kind of funny for me, because dolls and ghosts are mostly what my art is about:)

but i can see why they might freak people a little, especially those porcelain ones. in some ways it is like they are 'empty vessels' for all manner of human emotions and thoughts to pour into, whether positive or negative.
they have a curious history too, in that sense, i heard that many were once used as embodiments of the owners....and then there's voodoo...
i guess there are so many creepy doll stories around that we cant help just a tiny bit of apprehension.

im not scared of them, but i do see them as somehow having a personality independent of us. im weird though..:)

as for creepy dummies, has anyone seen the old b/w film 'dead of night'?
there is a seriously terrifying dummy in that film caled Hugo, mwaaaaaaaah!

    15. This thread is really interesting.
The 'unusual' has always followed me it seems. It runs in the girls side of my dad's family. I can sense things other people can't, and sometimes see and hear things other people can't. I've more or less gotten used to it.

Anyways, I've had dolls and stuffed animals randomly stare, or glare at me, move out of the corner of my eye, change places while I'm in another room, and the like. Most of the time it doesn't scare me anymore though, I'm mostly used to it. Bodiless presences scare me far more.
My parents brought back a porcelain doll that my late Grandmother owned, that had a rather strong 'presence' in the first few months we had her. It was kind of eerie.
I've owned two of my own (porcelain dolls), and both of them were fine when I was growing up. But the older one is beginning to get a little spooky. My first pet, a hamster, somehow managed to chew her shoe and dress from about 6" away from it's cage. Anyhow, I haven't been able to fix this, so she sat alone at the top of my closet for years, 'safe', so she wouldn't get damaged further. I have to keep her face down now, because she seems bitter and irate. I don't like touching her anymore :/

I like scaring random strangers too. It's fun. One time my brother, his friend, and myself went to Science World, to the special effects exhibit, and they both got 'gunshot wounds' done to their foreheads. On the car ride back, they pretended to be dead, and I acted all scared, meanwhile, our dads talked happily in the front seats. One poor truck driver did a double take, then started mouthing the words, 'this is not happening, this is not...' 8D

But, onto BJDs, my boy Xylaz has never scared me, except when he falls over. His eyes are so realistic that they're a bit eerie, but not scary. Even when I posed him like a zombie.
My OOAK BJD I made, Pwivaran on the other hand, is getting more and more spooky. I'm not sure why, and it's sort of bothering me. She used to be very loving. She moves, her eyes randomly roll back into her head, and she's developing a distinctly uh-happy aura. It's making me rather sad. I'm beginning to want to shove her in the closet too :< *no wonder I have to have my closet door closed before I can sleep at night :sweat *

    16. My dolls spook my wallet all the time. :aeyepop:

      Couldn't resist...

    17. I love this thread! I'm not really scared of dolls, because I know they are just that...dolls. They bring me great joy to see them, so they are a source of happiness for me....and ummm honestly, I kinda like the eerieness some dolls have, it adds to thier appeal. :)

citygirl - LOL! My wallet knows that feeling all too well. ;)

    18. I am currently BJD sitting my friend's El and Kiss, whom are brothers.

We went on a ride in the car about a week ago(my parents, my friend and I), and suddenly Sibrin (the El) fell onto Zax (the kiss). Me just playing around replied "Sibrin, get off your brother, he doesnt like that." So a little later Zax arm snapped and knocked Sibrin away. I sat him back down and the same thing happened again, Sibrin leaned on Zax and Zax pushed him away. Finally I just sat Zax in my lap.

Another thing happened just this morning. I was left BJD sitting again just after returning the dolls to my friend so she could go on a trip. Before she left she wanted a picture of the boys together. She posed Zax with his arm around Sibrin and Sibrin with his thumbs in his pockets. The doorbell buzzed so we went to see who it was. We heard a thump and we had though one of the doll had fallen, so we went running into the room. What we found was Zax sitting on the bed three feet from the table he was posed on facing the wall, and Sibrin looking at the door with his hands behind his back.

Zax is sitting in my lap right now.

    19. I've never been spooked by my doll but all of my friends think they're creepy and refuse to look them in the eyes.
...Something about "They're so SOULLESS!" or something. XD

    20. That sounds completely awesome! ...Like the first episode of Mythical Detective Loki Ragnorak :fangirl:
I'd absolutely LOVE to find a haunted doll....well...if it was a good spirit that took it over. I'm not into the whole "I'm going to kill you with your own doll" type things*_*
