Ever Been Spooked (Directly or Indirectly) By Your Doll?

Mar 1, 2007

    1. Catwalk - Lmao, for some reason I could picture that happening (toy seizures)

Gotta say I'm loving a lot of the stories here. One of the reasons I collect dolls is I always felt as if they had some sort of soul in them and it's their owners that write the pages of their personalities. That being said the only time a doll ever freaks me out is when I can see a personality already there before I've gotten a chance to really know the doll.

I recently got a Bjd from Bluefairy called Special May. She's my first Bjd and I didn't know what to expect. She has this innocent look but she almost seems to have this darker side to her when I don't pay a lot of attention to her.

About a day ago I had her sitting in a small chair next to me while I worked on the computer and I glanced down at her and she was looking right at me (her eyes are possitioned that way). But her expression was completely different from the surprised/curious look she always has.

This time she looked pissed. The first thing that popped into my mind was 'pick her up'. So I did and in the light of the computer screen her face was exactly how I remembered, adorable and shy.

I'm sure it's a trick of the light, but it was kinda scary to see something so beautiful turn so twisted for that moment.

That ever happen to anyone? Ever have your doll sitting near by and you turn to look at them only to see them glaring at you with a voice in your head saying...

      "Pick.... me..... up."

    2. Now THAT'S a funny story! Too cute!

Nope, my dolls have never spooked me, but I never had a bizarre evil looking clown doll :P I have a ton of dolls around the house, but I just love them to bits and they can't scare me. However, my eldest daughter is quite freaked out over them (though she has had to live with them all her life, hee hee.) And I must say, that keeping her unballanced is an awful lot of fun (considering what SHE puts me through, hee hee.)

I've got to say, though, that asside from the living dead dolls, which she has found adoreable ?? She now wants a BJD! I'm really surprised. She has been taking art classes, and wants to do a face up herself. This is a nice change, we might have more in common after all! Hee hee.

    3. The most 'spooked' I've been is when the cat started to play with Ares (she likes the smell of resin...) and when I retrieved him he just stared at me with mournful eyes that said "Why didn't you save me sooner?"

I felt bad but at the same time I felt like he was glaring at me all night after that. I had to move him into a different room because I felt like my life was being threatened or something...

He hasn't been near the cat since...

    4. It never happen to me... but if it would i will feel very happy to hear if she said she loves me... cause so do i. But I did had the feeling when she's with me sometimes.. is like her expression looking at me she's telling me.. I love you... which made me feel very happy and in love her more deep... xD

So i really don't mind if they talk to me. But i only can feel them can't hear them... ^_^

    5. That is so funny and creepy. I'm really easily freaked out and I have a room in my basement (which I get made fun of because I used to be afraid to go down there when I wasl little. So now my sister will say really scary things before I go to bed that bring up those repressed childhood memories  haha)

If that happened to me I would be so freaked out. Until I realized what it was. Then I'd feel rather silly.

    6. the only dolls i have at the moment are porcelain dolls...one is made to look slightly like me(same hair and eyes) and she's not all that freaky...i have an anne of green gables one too(with completely shattered feet T.T) but she's behind a box for my roxas action figure ^^; i'm not really freaked out by dolls...though some bjds give me the creeps sometimes because i can just imagine them sitting there staring at me with glassy eyes and unchanging expressions...

    7. Okay, so the night I got my Hound my mom and I were having fun seeing all of the cool things he could do. While I was holding him on the bed we were sitting on my mom decided that she wanted to see what the inside of his head looked like. not thinking anythin gof it I continued to hold him and inspect the detail of his face-up when.....suddenly his right eye rolled around and looked in the other direction. I gasped and immediately set him down on the bed. My mom just busted out laughing, 'cause she was the one moving the eye. I don't know why it scared me so much...probably because it looked so realistic...and my mom still makes fun of me for it.

    8. i havent been spooked by my boy yet but im just whaiting till he does lool.

    9. One night I woke up at some weird time (I do this a lot) and the way the light was hitting Daejin + my sleepy eyes, Dae looked like Jigsaw (from the Saw movies). e____e;; I am honestly terrified of Jigsaw so I freaked out.

    10. I dont have one, but my friends really freaked me out a few times... i mean walk in a room for something not really paying attention to the stuff in the room at first and then some how eyes land on her doll Jay and its like he's staring right at me.. and then the imagination goes wild because they're so life like..... its like omg did he change posses... or something?!

    11. Bah. Chrno's to nice to scare me, but ooooooooooooh....When Ed comes, we're gonna have FUUUUUUN. xD

    12. isaac tends to scare me alot more now... i don't think he's forgiven me for letting him fall off the dresser. :sweat i feel so bad about it.

he usually ends up kicking up his legs or leaning forward when i am spacing out and i see the movement and then i freak out and fall off the couch.

    13. My doll spooks me at night sometimes. Her eyes are metallic cat eyes and they follow you. n_n; and if I look up they reflect light and scare the dickens out of me.

    14. I don't have a doll yet, but of the ones I'm planning to get, 2 have the personality to keep trying to freak me out. ^^;

    15. :o I love all the stories here! They're so cute, yet at the same time creepy. Gah, I hope I had my doll already, so I could live some of all the neat experiences I've been reading about. Even the creepy ones! :D

The only doll that has scared me so far has been a pretty large stuffed panda bear that used to sit on the end of my bed when I was younger. *_* His eyes were really really bright and creepy!
I haven't yet been throughly creeped out by actual dolls, though. I like them too much. ;)

    16. So far Moira hasn't done anything to spook me. Although personality wise she's the type to do something harmless to startle me just to be obnoxious so I'm on the look out.

But I did have a doll scare the heck out of me once. I saw the original Chucky when I was really far to young to have watched it, and it magnified my already slight fear of dolls. I also had the female version of the actual doll that Chucky was based off of (the boys were called My Buddies and the girls Kid Sisters). As soon as the movie was over I tossed my Kid Sister doll in the closet and forgot about her. Several years later I was cleaning out my closet and must have knocked the doll somehow because it started talking. I flipped out and ran out of my room screaming and crying. I made my mom go get her and get rid of her.

The strange thing is that my mom went to take the batteries out of her before putting her in a toy donation bin and she swears that there weren't any in the doll. Because of that she ended up tossing it in a dumpster instead of donating it.

    17. Thats strange oO i never really was spooked out by any doll, the only nightmare I had back at the age of 10 is that my barbies came to life...:| but they never really did anything spooky, wonder what Loki is up to :sweat she's a cheeky little girl

    18. I don't own any BJDs yet but, am looking forward to having my own, sorta. Now that I have read all of your stories I am not so sure anymore lol. I have a VERY active imagination, I can't watch scary movies even at 21. I always sort of hoped I'd grow out of it but, I guess not!

I do own an American Girl Doll, Kirsten. We've had some...fun times together. I remember this one time I was in my room and it was pretty late. She was standing on the dresser and I was down on the floor doing something (i can't remember what) and I looked up and she WINKED at me. Or rather one of her eyes (the AG dolls have the eyes that shut when you lay them down) fell close. Scared the pee right out of me! I love her to pieces but, sometimes i just have to put her away. Sometimes I find myself doing things to keep her "happy".

:o OMG - just now as I was typing that I heard a rustle in the other room. LoL I am scaring myself! :doh

Right now I am saving up for the DOT Humme Duncan. He is such a beautiful doll. The biggest reason I chose him above all others is because the way his facial expression is done he looks like he has different expressions from different angles. I just hope to god that he doesn't have an angry one in there!

I think for my female I'll be looking for the purest looking face I can find. That way (hopefully) she'll have less of a chance to scare me!:aheartbea

    19. I used to be scared when doll swer sat facing me. My friend use to have a lot of them an so I had to turn them around. i'd rather they be turned around tham under the bed because that thought is even scarier. Now I don't think they scare me tho I have a fear of CLOWN dolls because of the poltergeist movie lol >.>

I never had the freeky feeling with BJD they so soft and real like am Just not afraid. Though I do hope that when my Kiril arives he wont scare me XD

    20. LOL!! OMG, how I love this thread XD

catwalk, eleniel, vanilla_loli, I loved your stories.

      Keep'em coming!! XD
