1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever feel the need to "adopt" dolls for sale in the marketplace?

Apr 10, 2006

    1. My dolls are all second hand doll, some just the head but thats what matter the best :P
Its my own opinion but I prefer to buy second hand doll and give them love since the ex owner could not.

    2. I feel the same way. I actually feel it's more personal to get the doll from someone else. There's a history and you're just another part of this doll's life. Even though I don't have access to the marketplace, I'm constantly searching through used dolls on Ebay and Garagesalejapan because I really do want to give dollies homes. <3

    3. All the time. But even if I have the money available at the time, I make myself stop and think about why I feel that way. If it's the doll itself; I'll give it serious consideration. But if it's just wanting to give the doll a home; I pass.

    4. I don't really have this urge. If I browse the marketplace, I do sometimes end up buying dolls I hadn't planned on, but it's not because I feel bad for the doll. I try to avoid the marketplace and just do searches for specific dolls I might want.

    5. I know how you feel! It's sort of the same urge I feel when I see a cat and I want to give it a good home! Haha. But luckily I don't give in to those urges. Actually, I am the first owner of all of my dolls, I sort of like the security of knowing that I'm the first owner of the doll, so that nothing is wrong with it and I can take care of it from the get-go. But I recently bought a B-el through the marketplace and this is my first time owning a second hand doll! (Or more like 5th hand, I think I'm this poor guy's 5th owner). And for some reason, knowing that he's been owned and sold so many times before me I just want to take SUPER good care of him and spoil him, haha. He feels like he needs the love more than any of my other dolls.

    6. I have this urge all the time! If its a pretty doll I like for a cheap price I want it! If it has damage, I want it even more to try to fix it! However I need to get all the dolls off my wish list before I can just buy some random doll

    7. Yup, usually it does't last but I finally brought home a Hujoo no one wanted. I didn't know what I was going to do with her after making some clothes but recently I painted her metallic and made a robot out of her.

    8. Not really. I guess I'm in the minority here . I only want to adopt certain sculpts that I already have plans for. Now pining over dolls when I'm broke is another thing.

    9. Aww... yes, I'm like this!! Especially if its a sculpt I really like... :XD: I'm really glad my two latest dolls, my Planetdoll twins, were both adopted. Now they get to be together with a loving family...!! I'm way too sentimental... :sweat

    10. I'm currently waiting until I'm granted access to the MarketPlace to buy my first doll for a few reasons, the mainly one being that the doll I want (AngelHeim Ryan) is currently sold out so I'm hoping I'll either find the complete doll (don't know the right term to apply here) for sale or just an Elder Heim body since it's also sold out on AH website.
I love this particular doll and I would be willing to "rescue" a doll in need if his' previous owner can't give him the proper attention he deserves :)

    11. I have lot of these I'd really like to have that doll when going throught market place... I can keep it usually at that want. Thought ... both my second hand dolls were kind of impulse purchasy :sweat

The molds were however are ones I have been looking beforehand as one I'd like to have and I'm person who don't buy doll "to test it"
If I buy a doll I intend to keep it which keep the want to adopt dolls down a bit... well a lot :|
Expecially when I have kind of that thinking too that I just want to give the doll a loving home
      :sweat

    12. I pretty much only buy second hand now, and not just because of financial reasons. I just seem to bond better with previously owned dolls, except for a few that I just couldn't get other than new. I love the dolls I have now and am waiting on one last one, don't want anymore and as a result have to physically restrain myself from the marketplace now XD

    13. Yes, and I need to stop! I get them, and then I don't like them because I really want other ones, so they end up getting rid of. So then I feel worse.

    14. Yeah, sometimes. But mostly because I want to clean the doll of its face-up or blushing. I mostly don't have more plans. ^^;

    15. I've never bought a doll from the MP just because. It has to be a doll I actually seriously want to buy :)

    16. I did feel the need to when I saw a LE Pine in the marketplace ;u; I felt so bad for her, I wanted to take her home (probably because I'm biased and I love my Pine).

    17. I'll admit that I get the urge, but I've yet to actually do something about it. I only buy dolls to flesh out my characters so unless it's a mold I really think I can work with and make into one.. I'd not do it.

    18. I know how you feel! I've adopted many dolls for the purpose of saving them.

    19. When I first got marketplace accesss I was shocked and immedietly went to see who was up for 'adoption'. I felt so sad but also a bit frustrated...And relieved. No RS Seng's or Mei's up. (That would've made me cry honestly because I can't bring my girl home yet still earning money and I found her a little jacket that would fit without having to spend cash.)

So yeah I'm checking it to see who's up and it kills me to see them up and not able to buy it. On another marketplace I saw a BBB Isabella girl who never sold and I felt bad because I couldn't take her in. (And I love the Isabella sculpt as much as I love Bei, Mei and Seng.)

    20. In just a few more days i will have full market access and intend to buy all the dolls i want from there. Buying them new is just so expensive for me! and the wait to kills me to. I know though when i get access every doll i see i will be inching to give him/her a new home. I will need to be strong -.-
