1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever feel the need to "adopt" dolls for sale in the marketplace?

Apr 10, 2006

    1. Only the ones that work with my aesthetic and also the ones of the fringes of same. I have varying tastes though so the marketplace may prove to be a dangerous pastime.

    2. I admit that I constantly browse the dolls for sale threads. I'm only looking for certain dolls, though, so I wouldn't just try to buy any random doll for sale. I prefer to give a home to a second-hand doll rather than buy new...it just seems sweeter that way.

    3. I search the threads a lot and I find ones I want to buy.

I do sometimes feel the need to adopt ones that I really like, but there's only one right now that I really want to adopt. I've been staring at her since she was posted, but I haven't had the cash. ):

    4. Not at all. I rarely browse the marketplace (and when I do, it's simply out it curiosity)
I'm very picky about which doll I buy and when I do, it has to be straight from the company
(I feel that if I buy a second hand doll it's not really mine)

    5. hahahaha :XD: well... my newest girl is here because I feeled the need to adopt her :sweat

I wouldn't adopt any doll. She's a mold that I wanted since a long time ago. So, this girl, whose dolls are amazing, was selling her. I was like "you can't go to a mortal's home, you need to come home with me" and that's what happened. It's because I kind off make a special connection to some specific dolls and when they sell them is heart breaking.

Anyway, I don't expect this to happen again, but... who knows? ;)

    6. I tend to feel this way when I see dolls for sale from people I interact with on a regular basis going up for sale, mostly because I feel like I'll miss seeing the doll on the forums, and because there's a certain familiarity with that doll. There's also the instances when the seller really needs the money, and I want to be as much of a friend as possible and help them out, but sadly most times my wallet won't allow for it. :(

    7. That kinda what happen with my newest girl and her on layaway sister. I had seen Mikhaila before but I fell in love with this little girl very quickly. I got her and then a few months later I want her to have a twin so I am look on the market place and seen a perfect match but was not sure and I put up a want to buy and the girl with the mikhaila pm me and now her sister will be home soon.

    8. If the the doll *calls* me then I would buy it. I bought my CP Chiwoo, Dantes <3 from the market place that way and I don't regret it. :) I would never buy a doll, however, out of pity...like knowing it's been boxed or neglected by the owner, if I don't like it it will only be boxed or neglected by me...again =[ so just buy what you like, and both parties will be happy (well, the doll will look happy =D)

    9. I always feel this way for anything in general! I always find myself wanting to 'adopt' things, just to have it be in my loving arms! I guess I just like to mother things that aren't my own. :sweat

    10. I’ve looked on the Marketplace before with my fiancé (she has access right now, I don’t) and I definitely have wanted to adopt dolls. XD I worry for my wallet when I have access to the Marketplace.

    11. :|I'm actually quite picky and I end up looking at the dolls in the marketplace and not liking any of them enough to consider buying them...

    12. I try to avoid the MP as much as possible unless I have money in my PayPal and am actively looking for something - because otherwise I get far too tempted to splash out on an impulse buy to "rescue" some poor thing with a terrible face-up or half-done mod. That's how I ended up with at least half my current collection!

    13. I don't have the urge to buy dolls I like right away. That is probably why I end up not having them. TuT~ So no. I don't feel the need to adopt.
I might actually buy a severely destroyed head just to fix it though. I love fixing and modifying things.

    14. i had this feeling when i bought a MNF Shushu head. My plan was to buy a Shushu head in NS but but it needs to be perfect and i was always too picky then i found the head in BW and i thought (and this is kinda stupid) she was made for me like "you need to buy this head" because she was new and no yellowing. I had the same feeling about a Luka girl head i have seen her on DOA. Her Face-Up was perfect and she was the most beautiful luka girl i have seen. I thought about selling my first and one and only doll but i was kinda late.

    15. I would rather buy new, maybe if it was in good condition, but I do kind of feel bad for the ones being sold...is that weird? xD

    16. I feel the same since i prefer a very new doll too. There are some things i would never do with my dolls and i'm very picky with scratches or if the doll looks too shiny because of low rubbing since i love the matt skin when they are new. But i also understand this kind of feeling for the ones being sold.

    17. I prefer to buy new dolls, but most of the ones I love happen to be limited editions, so I'm forced to scavenge the market place a lot of times. xD I don't mind buying a second hand doll though, it makes me feel happy to give him/her a second chance!

    18. Sometimes I feel bad for a doll that the owner didn't bond with and wish I could rescue them, but I never do since that would lead to too much spending. I try to stick to only dolls that I really fell in love with.

    19. I find a lot of dolls immensely beautiful, but I have a hard time finding characters and names that match them. So when I peruse the MP at late hours and I see a face that literally haunts me (it's how I ended up with my NotDoll girl, she had been there for a very very long time) and a background story just comes out of nowhere I know that I HAVE to have. I also "rescued" a doll from someone local and I'm very glad I did. He's my only boy and he was a total impulse buy. But so far he's the snuggliest and I couldn't be happier with him.

    20. If I had the money I would rescue most dolls from the marketplace^^
