It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Ever loved a doll but COULDN'T bring yourself to own it?

Jan 26, 2012

    1. I can't say that I have.

    2. All the time. I love the doll chateau, dream of doll, and soom dolls but they are so expensive that I can not justify buying them.

    3. Soom had a really pretty warrior elf girl a while back, and I thought she had a really pretty face and was exactly as I imagine elves should look like. I kind of wanted her. But I just didn't think she'd fit in with the collection I was building - a bunch of guys. I'm more open to the idea of getting female dolls now, and there are several I really want, but she was limited of course so she won't be easy to buy now.

    4. DollShe Saint and Berman. My perfect male twins. Cannot bring myself to buy them. One: there are so MANY I can't see them as being unique to me.. (Sounds weird but I don't want to look at them and think, "That looks like so-and-so's doll.") Two: price is a little high for both and I'd want both because they'd be twins. Three: Two boys that big wouldn't fit in the family.

    5. Hah yeah.... loads.

For the most part it is due to height differences. Souldoll Shiva-G is one I really love but she's a Zenith. And I love so many Iple dolls but they're either too big or too small :|

      Then there is Souldoll Hye.... Who is a perfect height... and I sort of know what character I'd use her for... but I can't bring myself to get her. I don't know why. I think the very thing I love about her face (that grumpy expression) is also the very thing stopping me from getting her. It makes no sense to me but there you go ^^;

    6. I'm actually going through this right now. I absolutely LOVE Doll Chateau's Alberta body, but now I'm thinking a Rosette body would suit the character better. I'm also trying to keep my wishlist as short as possible, so I don't see myself coming up with another character just to get Alberta. Another thing is the character is supposed to be an engineer/scientist, and she'd probably be hunched over a lot of the time- which sadly is not something the Alberta body is very conducive to. Funnily enough though, I was originally wanting her to be very tall and lanky anyway, hence my attraction to the Rosettes. :)

    7. YES! Ring Doll's Frankenstein. I wanted him SOOO bad, but after having found out they they were very backed up at the time and having problems with communication, I sadly declined on the order. Now I 'm regretting it because I instead, bought a 5star Tumnus which took just as long to receive as the other doll I so nearly decided on. I'm also quite angry at the fact that they gave me the wrong eyes. Not to mention, his face-up is incredibly light, so he looks like a chick. I like feminine guys, but he is a little over kill. If I could go back in time, I would buy that LE in a heart beat.

So guys... the moral of this story, never settle on a doll, if it means taking forever to save up for the one you really want, in the end, you won't regret it.

    8. This happens to me a lot. And there haven't even been many BJDs that have really caught my eye. I'm pretty sure it's the price point though--200-300 is really my limit, though, sometimes I can do 500-600, but any higher just makes me feel bad.

    9. I'm not sure, I considdered myselve in love with DoD Kirril, but I never had the urge to have one. He is one of my doll-loves personified, and I nearly swoon ower every pic (good pic) I see of him, but I have no reason to want one myselve. Was that your question?

Then, I know why I probably will never have an Idealian Gluino: 1: price, 2: Brain, 3: to BIG.

    10. Every SD I've ever drooled over :I There are so many beautiful, beautiful dolls out there that are simply too big for me. I just know somehow that I can never own one. I'm way more comfortable with MSD sized dolls somehow.

    11. no. if i 'fell in love' with a doll, i don't see why i wouldn't prioritize attaining it above any other hobby purchase. if you can't 'love' a doll you own, i don't see how you could even keep it.

quotes for 'love' because the idea of loving objects is a little weird - i think it's what they represent (our hopes, desires, the stories we make up about them- in other words the concept or ideal represented by the object) that we fall in love with.

    12. I have passed on a few Volks dolls that I've considered too expensive for my personal budget, SD Gou Yukinojo and SDGr Lorina. My final decision was related mostly about the cost, but also the size of the doll itself. My tallest doll is an MSD, I'm not certain the scale of the larger dolls will fit with my dolly family.

    13. Lola7. I agree with you. Often the decision is about scale. I often fall for a doll and then realize after she/he moves in that they are either too small or too large. It is always difficult to judge that without putting them on the "same bench".

    14. Yes. Usually it's due to size, I've learned that MSDs are really the only size I like in my collection. I have nothing against any other sizes, and I like other peoples SDs and Yos, but they just don't work for me. SDs are too big and heavy for me to carry comfortably and Yos I can't seem to make clothes for.

There are MSDs out there that I can't own either. I just don't have a character or I think they're beautiful but just not for me. It's a strange feeling.

    15. Yes I have actually and it fits in with Lola7 and bonmwe - the Fairyland Chicline and Soom Faery Legend Dolls. The scale just seems wrong compared to my other dolls - and I have tinies to 72 cm dolls. The scale is just wrong for me and I feel the need to stay away from essentially a barbie doll size as I used to collect 12" dolls but that is old news now

    16. I really love Soom's Ace. I just don't see myself owning her, though, or anything from Soom but I haven't seen much I don't like from them.

There's quite a few SD-sized boys I have my eye on but they'd be too big for my (non-existent) collection, I think...

I'd probably have an MSD army if all the sculpts I loved weren't so expensive. :sweat

    17. I love the style of the Dollshe boys, but they're just too big for my collection (my largest is an Iple SID and even he's pushing it a bit). I've seen several in person and although they're gorgeous it only confirmed to me that I wouldn't get on with them as an owner.

    18. CP Delf Lishe (she's my favorite SD girl PERIOD, and I've had 2 choices to buy her, but couldn't do it), Souldoll Kid Asen and many, many others. Massen is my only SD and pushing it for me for the size for right now.

    19. Yes, I love the Dollzone Hid, but can´t bring myself to buy him. Because with three dolls, my family is completed and I don´t have enough room nor money for more.

    20. The first BlueFairy doll I was really looking into getting was the Patrick sculpt. I really liked his expression and how his eye shape looked, but I didn't think I'd be able to do much with a doll with half open eyes. I felt the same way about closed eyed dolls, too.
