Fairyland Feeple60 Discussion - Part 15

Jul 8, 2021

    1. Does anyone here know if it's possible to put a Switch head on a F60 girl body? I was hoping to put Switch Yunseol/LilyByRose head on an f60moe but I have no clue if that's possible or how the sizing would match up!
Switch's website says the body that head is on has a neck circumference of 9.4cm and the f60 neck circumference should be 8.4, is this too big a difference?

Sorry if this question seems silly, I've never done a hybrid before!

I really like the aesthetics of fairyland bodies and I'm absolutely in love with the magnet joints for wrist and ankle, and I've been wanting to get a big resin girl for a while, but none of the heads available in a la carte for f60 really match the character I'd be shelling

    2. @ashefaust
I've done a few hybrids, never with an f60 body and different company head so can't speak for what works best.

I can give some small advice in that the neck size does matter, you want it to be as close as poseable in most cases. (There are times were it matters less) The moe body has slim neck at 8.4, so a head meant to go on a thicker neck well have gapping where the neck meets the head. The closer the neck size is to what the head is made for the less of a gap.
Some companies have heads that are made to fit more then one sized body, so can go up or does a neck sizes without it being much of an issue, but that's not the norm. So always best to try and size close. I'd say you could get away with a head made for an even 9cm neck easier then a 9.4cm, but there might still be a bit of a gap. Which can bother some people.

Also related in sizing you want to look at head scale and body scale as too big of head on a smaller body and you get a bobbled head effect and too small of head on too big of body and you have a pinheaded look.

Oh and something else to think about to use a non fairyland head you will have to restring the doll and take the neck connector out and replace it with a normal S hook.

Hope that helps some, and I hope others can give you more advice and info.

    3. I am sorry, @ashefaust - Switch is one company I do not own. However, if you check my profile for the list of dolls I have (the many, many dolls I have), and you would like a hybrid of any of them, let me know. Popping off her head isn't a problem. I've got a thread going in the Reference Section, too.

    4. I have tons of Switch and a single Feeple60 and can try for you, but I only own their boys which have a different neck size. If you still want me to try let me know. The only skin tone match I could show is normal though.

    5. Here’s switch yunseol on a Angell studio 58cm YT body, 8.6cm neck and a xaga doll 57cm body 8.2 neck!

I don’t mind it on the xaga doll body but there is a gap! I also added a silicone washer, since the neck is short.

    6. Thank you so much for all the info!! This is really helpful! I heard there was a neck connector thing you could buy to put non-fairyland heads on fairyland bodies, is that thing for f60? I think that would be easier than restringing for me, restringing kind of scares me.

I'd love to see a skintone match for f60 normal skin if that's the one you have!

Honestly I feel like I can hardly see the gap? Or maybe I'm just not sure what I'm looking for, but I think it looks fine. Thanks for the pictures! I feel like it would basically be covered by a wig, right?

    7. Kind of the other way round as Fairyland heads need the connector vs companies that use a normal S hook.

So all Fairyland dolls use a neck connector mechanism to keep the heads on. With their mnf dolls you can buy it on it's own to use with other doll bodies to hold on the mnf heads in place. As you can not buy a f60 or f65 doll body on it's own they come default with head and a neck connector. In order to put a non-Fairyland doll head onto a Fairyland body you will have to take off it's head, and then restring it slightly. In order to replacing the default neck connector with some kind of an S hook.

I have done the reverse of this and used a 3D printed neck connector to put an F65 head on a 63cm I.O.S. boy body. It wasn't much harder then a normal restringing, but I had all the right tools for the task. (And my S.O. there as a 2nd pair of hands).

Most companies use some kind of S hook to hold heads to bodies, Fairyland is the odd ones for not doing that, though there is a tiny hook that is part of the neck connector mechanism.

Hope that kind of clears it a bit. I would offer pix, but don't have any and likely wont have the time to take any this week.

    8. I've put a non-Fairyland head on a Fairyland body (specifically an Angell Studio head on an FairyLine60 body), although I didn't keep the hybrid (the head is now on a Maskcat body).

      Two things you should know:

      1) Be aware the resin will not match. I have Switch Powder Beige and Switch Rosy White, and neither is a good match to Fairyland resin. In some lighting, the Switch Powder Beige + Fairyland NS is kind of tolerable, but in other lighting the difference is really obvious.

      2) You must restring the torso. The neck connector you've heard about is for putting a Fairyland head on a non-Fairyland body. To do the reverse (put a non-Fairyland head on a F60 body), you are going to have to remove the neck connector, which means you are going to have to restring the body. (The only exception is the FairyLine60 body, which CAN take a non-Fairyland head without restringing because of its "quick exchange" bust system, which doesn't exist on the F60.) You don't need to buy any special neck parts for this, but you will need to supply your own S-hook.

I do think there's a potential for the gap to look weird. I've definitely tried some head/neck combos that I really disliked for a variety of reasons: neck too skinny, neck to thick, head sat too low on neck (resulting in a super-short neck), head sat too high on neck (resulting in a super-long neck), etc. A full 1cm is a pretty big gap, plus with that gap the head might sit very low on the neck.

    10. Anyone else a little frustrated that fairyland isn't honoring their pricing error with the demon wings? :\

      • x 2
    11. That was just DDE wasn't it? It was the regular price on the Fairyland website. It'd be a pretty big cost to swallow all those wings at such a massive discount.

    12. They told me it was Fairyland's error.

    13. Wow @sugarcactus your Letona is gorgeous! Her facepaint looks amazing on
      the gray resin! Beautiful!! Congrats!

Just wanted to share two of my favorites - because they both make me smile.
Chloe and Clarisse - obviously both F60 Chloe sculpts - my favorite

    14. So after being out of the hobby for like 6-7 years, I'm jumping back in head first with an Alan order placed tonight. I think I may have to lay down after how much I just spent *_* lol. But after a crap year I think the price tag will melt away when he get's here in November!

    15. YEP I don't understand why they can't honor it. I legit ordered extra things to get to the threshold for the event. Annoying but sadly will pay.

@Robyn_in_WA - Thanks so much! She definitely is breathtaking in gray.

I love how we both have dupes of our favs. Your Chloes are so cute!

    18. Thank you @Pen-Pen !! I don’t have access to the marketplace on here yet since I’m so new so I will be sure to stalk as soon as I have access!! For now I am stalking the BJD and resale groups on Facebook!

    19. I’ve also got a feeple Alan on order from fairyland so we can wait together! I’d also try stalking instagram! I’ve seen some within the last few months pop up so while it’s rare I don’t think they’re super rare.

we can cheer each other on until November gets here!
