1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I leveled with my husband on the cost of the dolls. But since its my money and my credit cards he didn't say much about it. I paid off my truck this year so that money is now mine to blow anyway I want.

    2. My family knows they're expensive but I tend to fudge exactly how much they cost. I usually tell them that they come with this outfit and that pair of eyes, just to make it look like the doll isn't quite as expensive as it really was.

My mother knows how much the MNF Shiwoo was because she saw it on the Fairyland website when I ordered it but I don't think she realizes how much I've spent on these little brats in the last year. :D

    3. I do tell them the price. Just not the true price! :P Only my mother and my sister know the true price, the rest of my family (father, grandparents, etc) think I paid for it about five time less, also because my doll was used (which also is not true).

    4. i told my dad how much it was, showed him the pictures, and paid for her with my own money....except when she arrived, my parents were shocked at the size...a 26cm tall doll for 300!? they were sorta outraged but i guess they respected that i got what i wanted and paid with my own money...though my mom was like, 'even though she's so pretty, it's still a little too expensive...'
XD that's waht i get for buying a limited editon.

    5. I picked my first doll up just before I left to my parents' house for christmas, and opened the box here. my dad was with me at the customs office and saw me pay the 133€ for customs - they thought it was the cost of the whole doll and thought THAT was insanely expensive, and after I cleared that misunderstanding I have very promptly refused to tell them how much I actually paid for him, hahah.

    6. My parents think Bynx was 200 dollars *_*...little do they know he was about 120 plus that. :sweat I dont intend on telling them about Churro either...he cost me 165 >>;....
And now im saving up for my next doll! Which will be 282! Haha, they think it's pointless but they respect the fact I bought it with my birthday money...

    7. My parents know exactly how much the dolls cost. I get the "I hope you are also SAVING money too" mini-speech on occasion, then they let it go. I'm an adult, they trust me to make my own decisions.

    8. I am 22 and bought my bjd in October '08. The money were mine, I worked hard to collect it and I didn't tell my parents my doll's price because they would probably kill me :) They are wery serious and strict about expenditures. In the beginning, they were really 'moved' when they saw me with a doll one day, but now I can see that they've realised I am really serious. Now they only do know how much eyes and wigs cost because I wanted an 'unusual' Christmas gift and my mother paid for that ^___^.
Btw a friend of mine asked me about my doll and tried to figure out the price:
'You've bought a doll? What for?'
'For pleasure. She was rather expensive...'
'Really? How much did you pay? 20$?!' (in Poland for 20$ you can buy a nice Barbie doll)
      '...'
I just couldn't tell her the real price... :)

    9. Most of my family knows that dolls are expensive. My mother gave me a hard time about ordering my Violet--plenty of chance to see her disapproving expression and listen to the "better" things I could have done with that money. My stepfather didn't say anything, so he probably doesn't approve but is keeping it to himself. I didn't tell my stepmother because she is always stressed about money and even spending $5 puts her on edge. There was no need to give her a heart attack.

The rest of my family doesn't really care; my father and brothers have expensive taste, so they can see where I'm coming from even if they'd never buy a doll.

    10. I told my sister and cousin who asked that she was $48, plus $10 shipping... and she came with a lot of "free stuff". Both said "you spent THAT much on a doll?!"

Truth be told, my lati yellow was $430, plus accessories (wigs, eyes) that I bought separately. :P

    11. My first lati blue is going to be shipped to my college post office, so my parents won't be knowing about her just yet...:sweat When I do bring her home over a long break, I'll most likely reply "expensive enough" and leave it that. If they won't drop the matter, I can always pull out a cheaper price from the top of my head.

I worked to get that money after all--should be able to spend it how I see fit...as long as I know not to run my bank account dry :o

    12. When I get a doll, I know my mother will find out and want to see it when she visits. I'm sure she'll want to touch and I told her they are made of resin, and she knows that's not cheap, but I'm hoping to convince her that I bought the doll for about $150 or $200, including shipping.
I have decided to have my credit card bill come to my place so that she won't have a chance to see it.

    13. My parents know and they don't care about the cost since it's my own money that I'm spending.

    14. My mom knows how much my SD girls cost but they don't know that my Yos cost almost as much as the SDs >.> Or that I have another Yo on the way. Whoops.

At least my mom thinks Yos are adorable, haha.

    15. I... lied a weeee bit when I told my parents, haha. XD; I told them the dolls cost half as much as they do in reality.. XD; But oh well, they don't seem to care that much anyway! :)

    16. Heh, my parents think my doll cost around $100 each--that includes clothes, wigs, eyes, shipping, etc. And I was stuck in a car with them when they brought it up. Since I couldn't stop laughing, they gave up on me and took up another subject.
They will never know the truth, but they think it's cute that I make clothes for my dollies.

    17. everyone i talk about my dolls knows their real price.
there's nothing to be ashamed about.
people pay up to million of dollars for rare bottles of wine, or exotic foods, or similar things. and anyways, at least my father would have to know the price of my dolls, since depspise i'm the one paying them, being underage i have to leave him the payment/burocratic part (paypal.)
and he's probably the most annoyed person about my hobby, because he's the one seeing the money go away from HIS paypal account, even if i give them back after a second.

    18. They sort of know. LOL

I mentioned the price, then said that the doll came with loads of free stuff. My family does not know how much I really have spent on doll stuff. They don't need to know.

    19. Some of my family know. I'm married and my mother and father in law know. My own parents don't because when I first started the hobby I was living at home and by the time I left I had about 5. It took my father about 5 months to really realize they were multiplying becuase at first I hid them and then I slowly brought them out. I did just recently tell my sister in law about how much my yo-sd girl cost, but told her it was from a larger named company and a limited edition doll before I told her the price. She told me "well you've got to spoil yourself somehow or you'll never be happy in life".... I enjoy the wisdom of a woman over 20 years older than me.

    20. My family does but they understand since they know they're like collecter dolls. However, strangers whom asked about the price usually get a shock of their life. XD
