Families knowing the cost of dolls

I use to say a price lower than the real's one...

 

Well ... my first and (for now) only boy was a birthday present my parents gave me so they obviously know the price ... I still can't believe they decided to buy it.
They obviously think it's REALLY expensive ... (and even more with this crisis my country is in) but have been really cool and support my hobby ... they even allowed me to have a second! (which was payed by them again u//u)

I think it depends in the type of person each one is and the kind of experiences they had/have ...

 

Well, My parents know the price of the doll I just bought. Its kind of hard to hide it considering I go through my mother's paypal to get this stuff

They're generally supportive, though every once in a while my mom rolls her eyes at the ammount I spend. Its gotten better though, because I promoised for every doll related Item I buy, I'll put the same ammount of money away for college

 

I'm 49 and make my own money. I would love it if my parents were still alive to yell at me about the cost (different age, different perspective)

 

Uuue! If I told my father how much I was planning on buying my doll for he would blow the roof off *giggles*. I live just with my father and brother so I'll have to plant a few little white lies just to keep my doll safe. Oh and keep him out of reach of Terror Dog.

My mother however thinks they are quite expensive but she knows what I'm like and she would love to see me craft some jewelery for my doll once I buy one for my 21st. Yay for mothers!

 

My parents paid for half of my SD13 girl and they took me to the Sumika in L.A. to order her. They kept on telling me the whole time that it was a sin to get such an expensive doll, and shook their head sadly and all that... but they helped me to get it. They even got clothes for her in advance. I still don't know why they let me get her if they thought it was such a waste...

but well we have a very sarcastic relationship and she has a horrible memory, we were out for lunch and she said something about me "having so much money" because i work and dont do anything else.. i told her i was broke and she asked why..
so i told her that i spent it all on dolls she laughed like i was joking then turned to the waitress and said
" well she doesnt do drugs or drink or anything so i guess shes a shop-o-holic ahahahaa"
i just smiled ^_^; lol

 

... I'm not going to say anything yet.

I was planning a trip for this summer but I didn't have enough money to do that and my cosplays, so what I was gonna spend on the trip I'm spending on my dollfies....

If I get asked I might say $100 and that will get me killed. If my grandma knew it was like nearly $500 she would skin me alive. I really shouldnt be buying them I have college to pay for.. but I'm using these as drawing references and sewing practice too so... maybe she wont complain as much xD I wont bother telling my mom she might not even notice it for awhile.

 

I'll probs tell my mom, even though it'll be entirely my money when I do get my MSD. I'm holding off until April to order my Mika though, because that way I can say, "lolz, she's a birthday present to myself!" to anyone that questions my logic Everyone I know is used to my expensive habits, anyway, since I'm both a console and PC gamer, and collect manga...jeez, I need to stop falling in love with expensive hobbies...

 

My parents know. I use their paypal and my credit card is linked to their account.. Mum complains at first, but afterwards she's all "Oh he's so cute!" or "Lets get that wig or those clothes!" and she's always wanting to be around when I do box-openings. She's paid for my dolls twice and I paid her back every bit later (which is why she is willing to help me pay sometimes).

I have no idea if my dad knows the price, I'm pretty sure but it's not talked about lol.. he often makes little jokes about my boys and treats them like kids

the rest of my family knows because whatever hobby I have neon sign for my mum to tell the rest of the family.

 

My family knows the prices of dollfies and they don't have any problems with that. I spent my own money for that. They are very tolerant ^^;
And they really like my dolls, and outfits I make, they enjoy looking at them.

 

I do not tell my friends and family about my doll,I had some dolls a few years ago,my family knew I had them and they thought I was crazy to hugh a doll on my age,also about the price,they say it is ridiculous. Now only my husband knows,he doesn't like it when I buy expensive dolls and I do not have much money,so I only want to have a tiny cheap one

 

I don't tell my dad, he'd probably kill me, even though I'm 20. Mom knows everything, she loves my dolls, even though she was a bit suspicious at first, she likes to spoil them too. I usually just tell my friends the price of a normal fashion doll, I'd just say $80-100 shipped, they'd probably be all over me asking for charity.

 

My family knows...all but my mother in law. My parents and one of my sisters are supportive...and my dad and I are planning on buying my sister her first doll for her B-day as a surprise since she can't afford one herself. My husband obviously knows! I stay at home with the kids, and he earns the money, not to mention it comes out of our joint account.

The only reason my mom-in-law doesn't know is because she flips out when we spend $50 on something 'weird' instead of going out to dinner or something more 'normal', so I don't want my poor hubby to deal with her freaking out over my dolls.

 

My grandmother keeps inquiring about the packages that keep randomly arriving at the house. I keep telling her that it is nothing more than cheap ebay shopping... she believes me.... but... when I mentioned that it was for my doll, she blew a gasket.

"You're too old to play with dolls, you're poor, you need to focus on your future!!!"

And I rolled my eyes and thanked God that she didn't know that my Bobobie cost me $240 after shipping. He is on the way so there's no keeping me from buying him now. Then again, I'm an adult! :P

 

Oh man, I haven't even bought one yet and I just know my parents would murder me. I have no intention of telling them how much it'll be once I do so... n_n; I mean, it's my money from my job, but I still get my head bitten off over the occasional figure, never mind a doll.

 

My mom didn't happy when she knew all the price she always asks me "what kind of doll is it ? Why it too expensive ?" but now she allow me to have one and even ask me to buy a girl so she can do cloths easily (but I bought a boy ><) my dad he even lent me money for that but I have pay him back later = =;.

I don't why they let me buy it maybe it's because they saw me try so hard to saving money so they just want to help ^^.

My mom knows they are expensive, but doesnt know the exact price (she also doesnt know how many I have. XD ) My dad knows the average price range, but he doesnt care since he is into an expensive hobby as well, flying model airplanes that cost up to 400 at the least. So he really doesnt care as long as I have money for rent, bills, and food, then whatever I have left over and save I can do whatever the heck I want with. The rest of my family doesnt know, so what they dont know, wont hurt me. XD

 

My mom knows my plan to order a blueline boy once Latidoll reopens from restock and when I told her I'd be spending about 500 dollars for the doll, wigs, clothing etc she was very calm about it. Her reaction was 'Are you sure?' and I said yes. And then she was like 'Well then let me know when we can order my grandson' which I will admit was kind of shocking but not bad~

I suppose she doesn't mind because it's money I earn by baby sitting my sister as often as I do while she and the father work.

 

Uh...if were to tell my family the price of a bjd, I would try to validate why its expensive because the dolls are handmade by people who handle resin (toxic)...to make me seem less insane XD
