1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I tend to show mom all those super expensive collectible dolls and she just kind of gawks at the prices. xD And she also looks at me like I'm crazy when I talk about a doll that's "just" around 100 bucks. Safe to say, she won't be helping me buy any dolls any time soon. >_>; I can only imagine how my dad would react if I told him how much I spent on Siere alone.
      Well...unless it's a unicorn-type of doll.. xD Then she might fork over some cash.

    2. My mother collects Gene Marshal Dolls, of which I actually have the red haired one. So, she spends quite a bit on her dolls.

      Now when I told the boyfriend - he thought I was a lunatic wanting a $400.oo doll.

    3. My parents just about know as much about them as I do. I'm still a kid so I gotta use their paypal and stuff. They... Didn't really care.... They saw I really wanted it and I was able to save up a HUGE ammount of money, and let me buy them. They even got involved, E-Mailing them and calling the companies when we had problems. xD They never jsut let me deal with it. What REALLY surprised me was after I dealt with my medical problems, my grandma gave me ALL the money for a Puki. Clothes, shipping an all. So they know, and they're dealing with it. xD

    4. I don't mind telling my family the price.

    5. I tell them the price but they're no where near happy about it.
      My first doll is actually here now in his box (he will be opened tomorrow afternoon) but they think I should have gone for a car instead.
      I really believe they'll warm up to him, eventually.

      I told them "at least it's not drugs" and that seemed to have lighteed them up a little bit about the whole thing.

    6. I never talk with my family about my dolls, they know that BJD are very expensive, but They don´t know what is the price of all my BJD.

    7. Hahaha!! When my mom asked me the price of my dolls I tell her ' Something around 50$' and she tell me that it was veru expensive so I wil never tell her xD, thats my little secret, I only tell the price to my bf because he is very nice with me, they are expensive dolls but he know that I love them

    8. they all know.....My aunt knows especialy because she has so many all ready and she bought me mine.

    9. If/when i finally am able to get my first doll i dont think i would dare tell my mum, she'd probably have a heart attack! Buying a doll at 18 years old to start is just stupid let alone spending £500; the sort of money i've never had in the bank in my life! I fear that i'll feel so guilty about spending so much that i'll never get my dream doll ):

    10. I usually cut the price in half when my family asks how much a doll cost@_@.

    11. I told them right away the price of my first doll. My mom still asks what makes it so expensive, but she's not the type to be like "HOW COULD YOU WASTE ALL THAT MONEY????" She just shrugs her shoulders and says "well, it's your money, as long as you like what you got."

      My grandma, who helped me pay for a majority of my first doll knew also, as I showed her the doll. She was more excited about the fact that I still played with dolls and wasn't up to trouble XD

      I have another doll I'm paying off that's around 3x as much as the first.... I'll probably only tell my grandma the price after it's here, or she'll get worried about me paying my bills and whatnot. She gets worried about that even though I've never missed a payment yet.....

    12. I told my father the real price I've paid for both of my dolls so far, he just shook his head. But then he found out they're extremely poseable and that distracted him. xD

      My mother...doesn't know. I paid $600 for my Shiwoo from a friend, and I told her he was $400. >>; Which was still expensive enough for her to yammer on about it for days.

    13. My mum doesn't care. She's a "live and let live" kinda person :P Aslong as they make me happy ^_^ Leon thinks the prices are outragious, but doesn't mind as they keep me happy :) Rest of my family doesn't care.

    14. When i bought my first boy I didn't have a credit card or PayPal account, so I had to use my mom's. So yeah she had to know.
      But I talked to my grandmother and aunt about ways to get one. The original idea was that they would buy my one for Xmas. But I wanted one sooner so I got a job.
      LOL it was my first job too.
      So with my first paycheck I gave my mom the $250 I owed her for my video camera, and my second went right into my doll.

      My aunt thinks they cost too much. And I don't think she likes my El much. My grandmother LOVES my boy and understands Expensive Hobbies. She is always wanting to make him clothes... ^^;
      My mom tells me I shouldn't buy anymore, and is dumbfounded as to why I like them so much. But, the funny thing is, I decided to get a Glot this month and she keeps telling me how cute she is. I think she is excited I am getting a girl. ^^; But she does really like Chiaro now.

    15. Yeah, my family knows the cost. They don't really lecture, though, just kinda roll their eyes and think I'm too old for this sort of thing, or wouldn't I rather have something else? They think I'm nuts.

      Except for my sister. She's in this hobby, too, so she can't say much. :lol:

    16. My whole entire family knows... and they are quite cool about it... my mum feels that its my own money to spend... as long as im not spending hers~ Lol

    17. My family knows, my mom thinks they are pretty and my dad can't beleave how much I spent on my babies ^^;;

    18. They know that the dolls can be really expensive, and they think i got an AMAZING deal on the one i have. It was a deal, but not as "amazing" as i told them.... :sweat

    19. The first family member I told about the doll I ordered was my grandmom. She thought the doll was really expensive, but when I told her about the potential business options I had with it (such as doing face-ups and making clothes) she didn't mind so much.

      When my mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I had to have this huge monologue planned about even though I was just asking for some money to go towards it. When I said it was $300 she didn't really make a big issue of it and actually thought the doll was really pretty when I showed her the pictures. I didn't even talk about the business aspect of the doll.

      One of my friends had a good point though. She said that some people spend hundreds of dollars on a designer handbag that they use for a season, and in comparison, my doll will be liked for far longer than that. I thought it was a neat analogy.

    20. My parents don't know how much they cost they know they have cost me alot but its alot more than what they think, they'd prob have a heart attack if they new lol.
