1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. my mom know that a bobobie is $150 but i don't plan on telling her that most dolls are more than that. she would freak out if she knew the one im getting right now will cost me $450. she sees it as a total waste....

      im not even going to tell my dad im getting a doll till he sees it on the shelf...im fully expecting him to make fun as soon as he knows its mine....

    2. I collect pullips right now, and they know those prices, but i have jobs and pay for it myself, sothey can't do anything, but i'd be amazed to see them not flinch at bjd prices once i get one

    3. Ive mentioned to my parents once about getting a doll and the price but they say its a waist of money on something like that.

    4. my sis is the only person in the family who keeps asking me ques on my doll price, clothes price , whenever i buy a new one. i would just cut half the price, (eg. the dress is $40), i would say that it is onlly $20. she will comment that she rather spend it on a new dress for herself.
      therefore, i rarely tell my family bout my new dolls, new clothes for my dolls. cuz i know for sure that they will get veri angry, and may do something terrible to my dolls.

    5. My parents know that dolls cost a lot but unaware of the exact price. They don't like this hobby but don't disturb me and don't forbid me to buy a doll.

    6. My parents know how much they cost.
      And they're tearing up my butt for it. >.>
      At least, mother's trying to dissuade me. Blah.

    7. my mom knows because she's a bjd-collector as well. but I don't tell my dad. he knows that he's better off not knowing.

      but I have some asian family members who's salaries are about €250 a month, working ten hours per day, 7 days a week, and they're not happy about me spending so much on dolls when they're working so hard. but I tell them: I don't spend money on cars, houses, weddings or children. plus it's my money, not theirs. I'd rather see them doing something else but snooping around my flickr photostream and checking the prices of the dolls, because it's non of their business.

    8. I wish my mother was that understanding, honestly, Linda.
      I mean, okay, my father was like "okay-ish" about the idea of me getting one, at least for the last few weeks, since... I mean, I told him, I wanted one, and I would use my savings from my pocket money for the last few years to get it...
      Then today, when I finally want to order one... my mother gets all up in my face, and even my dad seems to change his mind, they think that just cause the price is in USD then it's not worth it... I'm just... really, really jealous of people who can just buy the dolls like that... and not face family's objection.

      ...and I can't even look into the marketplace for second-hand dolls, cause I'm a n00b. Go figure.

    9. I have a job and I have money to buy a doll. So, I tell my paren about the doll price.

    10. I tell them even though i'm using my own money..
      Yeah,just to avoid future conflict..

    11. When I first became interested in BJDs (about 5 years or so ago...), my mom told me she'd kick me out of the house if I ever bought one o_O;

      Years later, when I discussed it with her again, she said it was my money and I could do with it what I wanted. Then I asked her about the eviction thing, and she looked like she felt really bad all of a sudden... ahaha ^^;

      So, my mom KNOWS about the prices, doesn't like them, but says that as long as I'm taking care of my other expenses FIRST, that she doesn't mind that I invest in the hobby >3>

    12. I'm only 16, and my parents don't even know about these dolls! My Boyfriend wanted to get me one next year, for valentines day, but I told him not to because I don't know what I'd do if my parents found her. (they don't know I have a BF either, so that would spiral downhill pretty fast...)

      So, I'm going to wait until I either have more freedom within my house, or go to college. (Geah! So long from now! T_T)

    13. Well,my family is already accept BJDs including the price.Though they alway says BJD is quite expensive.

    14. My parents knows that they are expensive but I lie a bit about the real price. I buy them with my own money but I would get scolded by them with the phrase "you are spending a lot money in useless things" ^^U.

    15. Hehe, I have absolutely no intention on letting my family know how much they cost. I am planning to spend about $700 for my first doll and accessories and will avoid talking price at all costs to avoid getting scolded. I hate lying so but if they force me to tell I think I'll just say it was about $100 lol :)

    16. Just tell them. Also tell them that the price of the doll usually goes up in price if it is an LE or a discontinued one, so it's a good investment ;P. Even better if face-up is done by a well-known face-up artist.

    17. My parents don't know the exact cost of these dolls and I lie about it. But I've informed them they are expensive..they are quite intolerant about my hobby. They think I should spend money in more useful things...

    18. Well um....at a mere 38 years young I can't tell my parents and only my sister knows and the bond is strong so unless the oldies get internet savvy it is cloak and dagger on prices of dolls and my sister has generally spammed the fact that she thinks my dolls and hers are around the same price. Her dolls are actually living dead dolls so similar..give or take a few zero's. Sigh....family is bliss whilst a little clueless thank goodness.;)

      PS, They also did not know about my last four horses so there is a devious pattern emerging.

    19. My parents know... they have to, they're the ones with the Paypal. XD They're very supportive thought... both think I'm nutso for paying that much for a doll, but they are very understanding about the "It's my money" thing.

      My grandmother, on the other hand, wants me to learn to make the dolls myself. I don't think she likes how much I spend on the dolls at all.. but she sure likes to look at them!

    20. I told my mom they're expensive although not the actual price xD she thinks I'm crazy but also thinks they're adorable. My sisters know the price but don't really care (they're used to me getting things that seem more expensive then their worth to them) and they usually help pick out dolls I plan to get in the future~ also dad doesn't know what I buy or care really lol
