1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I had to say other, I tend to waffle a bit with hybriding, I have some characters who are a bit thinner, and more waifish looking, so they need slimmer bodies, but then others are more muscular or more curvy, and if the body they come with just isn't right, then I'm not going to stick with it. However, I do have a certain sentimentality for having the head and the body together, purchased at the same time. I flip flopped like mad in trying to decide whether to sell my only SD body, and I've finally decided it's time to let it go, even though the head will now be parted from the body for the first time T_T I figure since I need the money it has to be done. So yeah, if it's right for the character, then I'll make a hybrid to get the perfect combination, but otherwise, I prefer to keep head and body at least from the same company.

    2. as i said in the discussion thread for this, i don't think the artist who built the doll should feel offended, as the dolls they make are made for the intent of customization. Hybrids are just another way of customizing. This is my opinion :)

    3. I'd say I wouldn't mind, after all it's the person's own doll to do with as they will and sometimes you just can't get that right look with just using all the same company's parts. Granted my current doll isn't necessarily a hybrid in the traditional manner as it's all from the same company, just switched a head that I prefer with custom make-up to the body (had to since the main parts were from an LE) but I don't regret it and actually love it so much more. I'd say if it makes you happy and gives you the look you're going for then go for it :D

    4. hybrids are cool it's a way to get the doll you realy whant :)

    5. I voted FOR the hybrids. I have many of them myself. MNF/DZ Hybrids and I´m even getting a Limho Mono on a modded Souldoll girl body. Also, my Lishe has a Soom Body. I don´t care about the opinion of others. Everyone should do as he likes with his dolls. And if someone wants to make hybrid, he or she can and if someone feels better or more elite-like by having full dolls, they can do as I like, too. I have my opinion of snobby people, who are totally against hybrids, but I won´t talk about that now, cause it would be offensive.

    6. Excuse me, but just because someone is against hybrids doesn't automatically make them "snobby". They just happen to not share your opinion, and may have a variety of reasons for not liking them, some of which are not "snobby" at all.

That being said, I personally have nothing against hybrids, though I don't own any myself, and hopefully won't have to because I really don't want to dabble with resin-matching (I'm very picky in that regard). I considered hybridizing my incoming Chrom head to be taller, but at the moment I think I'll get him a Soom body, and see how it goes from there. Personally though, I'd only consider hybrids for reasons like above - a body to better match the character. I'd rather just leave the head around until I save up the money for a proper body than just stick it on a cheaper intermediate body (Though if the better-matching body happens to be cheaper than the head's company body, it's a great bonus).

    7. Try actually reading both leXis' comment and my own properly before commenting on my words, please. She stated "But, I don't like the idea of getting a different body for a doll just because it's *cheaper*." It was the claim that she would look down on someone creating a hybrid purely on cost grounds that I objected to, and she agreed herself that that attitude is snobby. She was not saying that she was against all hybrids, and nor was I saying that anyone against all hybrids is a snob.

    8. Err, are you responding to me? Because to be honest I wasn't replying to you at all, just the post directly above mine.

    9. Ah, I see - it wasn't clear, particularly as I'd already referred to snobbish attitudes before Chou did, so it came across to me as though you were referring to my comments. Sorry for any confusion there on my part!

    10. Hah! really changed my tune here...two years on and I'm hybridising like a mad woman...( but I have also overcome my comfort zone of just buying 16mm eyes to)...

    11. For me it depends on the doll. I don't particually care for Unoa hybrids. The head is made to fit on a head back and trying to force that onto another body makes it look of out alignment, for me at least. But there are some companies that only make heads so you don't have a choice but to get another body for it. I own one kinda of sort of hybrid, I turned a Dia into a boy. And I plan on getting a K-Doll Kasis and he's going on a Volks body.

    12. No worries, I probably should've made it clearer. I just honestly didn't read too many responses other than on the last page (because I already read parts of this thread, so, uh...), so I didn't realize I should've made it more obvious what I was responding to. :)

    13. I LOVE hybrids.

Some characthers are skinny, some are taller than others...if the hobby is about customization, giving your doll a life different from the one in store, why not go it all the way? If the body doesn't suit the characther as the head does, i don't see any problem selling one of them.

Companys knows it also, so why they should have the option for selling bodys and heads.

    14. Heh. Two years later and now all my dolls are hybrids. Guess I wasn't that scared after all. In the end the perfect body for the character was more important to me than a perfect resin match. (besides, a little blushing can help a lot in that department)

    15. I vote other.

I don't really mind hybrids. Personally I prefer my head and body from the same company (and mostly preffered to buy at once) because of the resin and size match. But when turning a boyhead into a girl, I can't do anything else then going for a hybrid. (would a opposide-gender body from the same company still be called a hybrid btw?)

And when one body from the company of the head is not suitable for the character, then why stuck with that? The doll hobby is quite expensive, so I think that you should be happy with the things you like. And if you have something you don't like, I think you have the right to change/cystomize/hybrid it. Your money, your dolls, your hobby, your fun. :)

    16. I like hybride dolls! They often seem interesting and originally. I plan to try this.

    17. So far I dont have any hybridization or any plans to do so. However I think if it gives you the look that you want then a person should feel free to do so. If I found a body that worked with my Delf girl that was more appropriate for her character I would almost definitely go for it myself. :)

    18. I don't have a big problem with hybrids. Personally, I couldn't imagine Shaant with a leekeworld body; I've tried him with lots of bodies, and everytime I come back to SDF. Kiefer was GOING to be a hybrid, but I loved the unoa body too much ^^ My dollshe Bernard is going to be a hybrid because I don't really like the DSAM bodies and i'm not going to pay 800 + for an original dollshe body. If it's about cost, do it with some sense. I'm all for trying to fit a budget, but... when you have a girraffe neck, a sunburnt face or all around wonky-ness....then you need to think about it a little more. =/ I like to see the hybrids people make, but it drives me mad when I see disproportioned frankensteins.

    19. Personally, I'm indifferent, but I love seeing the different hybrids that everyone comes up with! I do have a Nanuri/Fantasy doll hybrid do to costs and I love him!:) So if it works go with it!

    20. I made my first hybrid recently.
I was terrified about the resin matching, but it all worked out in the end.
I had a Dollmore whiteskin body to put the head on, and even though I got it May of last year, it's in epic condition and hasn't yellowed at all. It's paper white, and I mean PAPER white ._.
I bought a Dollzone Lola whiteskin head, and she's like a really fair ivory. Obviously there's a slight difference, but it doensn't show up in photos at all, and you have to have SRS OCD like me to spot much of a difference XDD

But yeah, it's our money, and if we choose to hybridise then I say; bring it on!
It's always nice to see what people do with their dolls :3
