1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. ^_^ i dont mind at all, besides its up to that person what he/she wants to do with there doll ^_^ i like some of the ideas for Hybrids (Oh i hope i spelt it right) ... so no i dont mind at all i think there cool to be honest...

    2. I think it is a great idea to make a hybrid doll... What if you really like the head sculpt of one brand but not the body or the reverse? I have found many brands that i do not like their bodies for one reason or another and i would still be interested in their heads... So i would definitely make a hybrid doll.

    3. They're great if they look good! I only dislike hybrids when the resin match and proportions are very obviously off (the latter bothers me way more than the former).

About half of my dolls are hybrids. For some of them, it was because their original bodies were terrible. Others, because I just didn't like how they looked.

I've actually changed most of the dolls I've bought complete. There are a few more I'd like to switch out, but I haven't because the skin tone was too hard to match. I'm actually thinking about selling those ones since I'm pretty dissatisfied with their bodies..

I'll admit that some of my dolls are hybrids primarily for monetary reasons, but I always choose a body that I like as much, or more than the original body. I wouldn't keep a hybrid unless they looked good, and I'm very satisfied with all of mine!

Quite honestly, I prefer the new body to the original body the majority of the time. On the same merit, some of my hybrids have ended up costing more than they originally would.

I've got several dolls from a few choice companies, and it gets a bit boring for them to all have the same body. Having hybrids allows me to sample from companies that I would never buy from otherwise.

Lastly, so many people have the same dolls. Having a different body for mine just makes it more my own.

Sometimes the match isn't exact, but it doesn't really bother me much. With certain face ups, the heads don't even match their original bodies anymore :?.

    4. I don't mind hybrids, I think sometimes it can be a necessity if you really like the head but can't afford the body (currently my dilemma :sweat). As long as everything matches, doesn't look too odd, hybrids can be great :)

    5. As long as the resin matches as the head size matches the body, I'm fine with it.

I tend to be so picky about body types and resin matches that if I don't like one or the other, I just wouldn't be interested in that doll at all. Eventually I plan on getting at least one Minimee, and I dread having to find a body I like for the head.

    6. I'm fine with it. Sometimes only heads are available so you have to get a body from somewhere else.

    7. I don't have a problem with hybrids at all. I mean, it's no ones choice by the owner to do what they want with their dolls. And if they wanna make them a hybrid, they can do that. I mean, sometimes they don't like the body the doll comes with. Maybe it isn't attractive to them. Or maybe the site you got the head doesn't have bodies, and thus you have to have a hybrid. All I know is, the owner can do whatever they want with their dolls. And as long as the resin matches, and they don't look weird. It's fine. Lol. So, I'm all for it! o uo)b

    8. I have absolutely no problems towards hybrids. How else are people supposed to get bodies for heads which companies don't sculpt bodies for? They don't have a choice =/

    9. Hybrids just seem mismatched to me...kind of like how I don't really like the idea of mixed breed dogs even though they live longer and are really freaking cute like their purebred counterparts.

It would bother me to have a hybrid...but I find other people's hybrids GORGEOUS.

    10. I like hybrids! Not that I consider that every doll has to be an hybrid, but for some reason I always tend to look for a better body o.o More beautiful, shorter, taller... I suppose it depends on the character that I have made for my doll and it doesn't happen with every one of them... but right now, out of 6 completed dolls I have 3 hybrids, I'm paying on layaway another one and I own a doll head which won't wear its own body.

      So, yay for hybrids! xD

    11. I think hybrids are fine, as long as the resin isn't too blatantly mis-matched and the proportions are fine. Heck, there are some dolls that in their original forms the proportions are all icky.

...and then there are the options occasionally to do a hybrid within a company. For instance, I have a realpuki body that I plan on using with a puki face, once the body arrives.

    12. I've been on the hunt for a littlefee body for my incomign Soom Eliv head for a bit now.
Reason being, I adore the littlefee bodies but I don't really find myself attracted to any of the heads...so that would work out for me. (proportions, skin tone, all easy and perfect)

On the other hand, I've also been on the fence about making Tomato into a hybrid, her Blue Fairy body frustrates me sometimes so I've been looking into a Kid Delf... Resin match is horrible, but can be easily fixed with blushing. ... I never thought I'd feel this way but there is a certain sentimental thing about her body that I couldn't quite bring myself to get rid of. XD

      So.
Yes I am all for hybrid, it is incredibly fun. But I can see why some people wouldn't want it either. Like everything else, do what you like. It is your doll.

    13. i do not mind hybrids at all,

I own a migidoll Ryu Head, I am still shopping for a body for him. but in the end he will be hybrid, since he just does not come with a body.

but I love to see how people combine their heads and body's because it makes great combinations :)

    14. I don't see why it would be a problem. It's not something I would do for my dolls at this point (I like the easiness of ordering a whole doll and having the entire doll show up at the same time rather than having to wait for different parts from different companies), but if it's what I need to do in the future to get my dream doll, I'll do it. As long as a person isn't making their hybrid from bootlegged doll parts, I would say it's okay.

    15. I Love Hybrids!!! They are so cool and very creative. It's like getting all of the best parts (in your opinion of course) from your favorite company. I'm planning out a hybrid right now actually.

    16. I love hybrids and I think if someone wants to hybrid a doll then go for it. It is your doll after all, feel free to do whatever with it. Not to mention the valid point many people have expressed about - what if you buy from a company who only makes heads and no bodies. Then you sort of HAVE to hybrid if you love one of their heads and wish to own one. In conclusion, I love hybrids..they def. get my seal of approval =D

    17. I absolutely love hybrids, even if the research can be exhausting to do. I'm very picky about the look of bodies, since being a drawing I prefer anatomically correct things - if a company's male body is scrawning and has horrifically misplaced muscles (like some do D': ) there's no way I can convince myself to buy it. I'm still too nervous to mod, so I'd never want to destroy an expensive model in the process of making it more appealing to me. :'(

I don't think it's an insult to the artists at all. It's just a preference thing for the buyer. The dolls are made to be fully customisable -why else would you be able to swap bodies and heads around? If anything, it's just honouring two artists' work.

    18. Hybrids are cool if done properly. It's why people tend to be hell-bent on resin matching. I don't want to have a doll with mismatched resin. Then it doesn't feel like a whole doll, but two parts. I don't like seeing a doll with mismatched resin.

It'll be harder than getting the doll from the company as a whole, though. I also think that if someone has had the opportunity to play with dolls from certain companies, they might prefer a company over another for certain pieces. For example: if they like a body from company A, but also like the heads from company B, but not the bodies, they might do a hybrid.

I hear a lot of things from owners of BBB and RS dolls about the bodies, but I do like the heads, so I might do something to create a hybrid with that.

    19. I adore hybrids (I have one!) but I always get irked when the resin match is horrible or the proportions are funky (unless they are intended to be that way).

I don't think it's an insult to the artist either. These dolls are meant to be creative. I can understand why people would prefer a non-hybrid, but I also think that they should accept other people's choices to make hybrid dolls as well.

    20. I love hybrids. It's just another step towards making your doll as perfect as possible imho, in case there is something about the original head x body combination that you don't like.
Since customizing is such a big deal in this hobby, I also do not believe this could be taken as an insult to the artist.
