It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. 1. Two of my seven dolls are hybrids...I wanted a Unoa Lusis and Sist, but wasn't interested in paying the scary prices for them. At first, I was iffy about the hybrid idea...I was afraid they wouldn't feel "right", but after carefully choosing bodies for them (Serendipity for Sist, AoD for Lusis), I've found that they are every bit as special to me as my "original" dolls.

Sometimes, I feel a bit bad about buying a headless body...it's almost like saying to the creator, "Your faces aren't good enough", but that's just not the case.

I'm currently planning my third hybrid...a MNF Carl head on, hopefully, an AoD body.

    2. I honestly don't mind because I barely notice unless pointed out xD

    3. I love the idea of hybrids! Some bodies are just too muscular or busty to my taste, and it would be great to stick that head on another body.

Plus, with artists that mainly/only offer heads (I think Migidoll) hybrids are necessary!

    4. Isn't the point of having a doll the whole idea of being able to customize to your taste?

Most of my dolls are on their original bodies, but I think my Volks Maggie has a different body. I bought her second-hand and honestly can't remember. If she does, I'd never be able to tell the difference in the resin!

    5. I think full dolls on their original bodies are great. No resin match or proportion worries. Little Dal is quite fine on his original AoD body and Sabik will certainly be keeping his body. Unfortunately though it sometimes just doesn't work out that way. My Leeke boy needs a 70cm body to accurately represent his character, my girl Minimee needs to be very tall, the Migi heads don't come with bodies and there is no way I can justify over $1,500 for a SD17 body for my Alain. I am pretty finicky about proportion and the color needs to be within two shades and in the same tone.

One of the many reasons BJDs are so appealing is that there is no limit to how one can make a doll their own unique character that is unlike anyone else's. If the maker is offended by hybrids or mods they might be better off creating dolls that are not specifically made to be customized!

    6. I've seen my fair share of hybrids. I think they looked good.

    7. I support hybrids! *pumps fist* XD Hybrids can sometimes be seen as a cheap way out of buying an expensive doll (Unoa *coughattack*). Though I would really choose hybridizing because I'm picky towards bodies and I will not enjoy my doll if the body annoys me. I just wish resin colors were more compatible...

One more thing, as someone said, I don't think the creator/company would be offended because in that case they should be offended by the changing of default wigs and eyes... and face-ups.

    8. I don't like hybrids, but not because I feel it is an insult to the artist. I don't like worrying about resin match or whether the head will fit properly on a body. I won't buy a doll piecemeal or buy heads to share bodies. I want all my dolls to be whole and on display and be able to play with them. I want all my heads with their proper bodies; probably the accountant in me!

    9. they are ment to be taken apart and put back together in a way that makes you happy and makes the doll more your creation. that's one of the things most people love about BJD. besides, you want to have a doll no one else has, but with them being mass produced someone is going to have the same doll. hybreding is a way to made your doll more limited and original. I always get kinda huffy when someone's got the same doll as me or has chosen the same name

    10. Im all for hybrids, they are my dolls and ill so do as i please :D and for those who dont wnat to, they dont have to. as long as a person is happy with their doll, thats all that matters really.

    11. I don't mind hybrids. Some of em look good, other's don't. I personally always get the matching body to my heads or buy full dolls. I hate having to figure out skin matches and wonder if the head will fit on the neck.

    12. I'm indifferent, but prefer original parts where applicable...[Too idealistic...I don't like resin color different, even a minor one]

    13. One of my dolls is an hybrid one. The two resins don't match very well but I didn't know it when I bought her (it's a second hand)...I don't like it very much but I love my doll anyway.
I think there's no problem if someone wish to hybrid his doll. It's just that it's not easy to do.

    14. I have no problem with people hybridizing their dolls. My preference is that the resins match well or be made to match with good faceup technique, but I'd never insist people buy expensive bodies for their dream heads. Conversely, someone once advised me to get Bobobie bodies for my Minifees, but I love CP's resin and sculpting too much to settle for something cheaper but not as beautiful. Essentially, I see no point in judging someone else's choices: I do what I want with my dolls, you do what you want with yours, and unless one of us wants to ask the other for advice, we should keep quiet.

    15. When I first started, I thought I'd only buy "complete" dolls from one company - head and body together.
But then I fell in love with the Esthy Peroth head, and a Karon head (but bought the head without the body because all I could afford was the head - he was up for sale on an SD10 body). Now both heads have bodies, one a Domuya and the other a Soul Doll.
And then there's my Volks Isao head. Again, because at the time all I could afford was the head. :sweat He still is bodiless due to finding affordable resin matches that also encompass a body that is visually pleasing to me, and would "match" the head's "look".

As for getting heads and bodies from the same company so that they match... I got an Iple House Tan Lion, and really, HIS head doesn't match the body he Came on. :nowords:
But I still luvs him. ;)

To each their own. Personally, I like them because they're a way to enjoy the head or body you can afford or like best. :)

    16. I love hybrids! Alot of my dolls are hybrids because one body didn't match what I had in mind for the character and vice versa. Its fun to mix and match and definately adds to the creativity factor. I just wish BW was more universal colored as well as NS. There are to many shades *_*

    17. I think hybrids are great! It makes the doll more unique!

    18. I'm all for hybrids. Heck Minimees wouldn't exist if hybrids didn't and that would be lame. Also the bodies which are available don't necessarily fit the character people are looking for while the head may be perfect... So not being able to have them would really kill part of the customizing part of them.

    19. All three of my SD are hybrids because I felt the default head and body combination didn't work together as well regarding scale and proportion. In that sense it's another aspect of the customizing process, if you don't like the default pieces, you can just swap them and see if that works for you.

    20. I have 2 hybrids and I love them!-- as long as the match looks good, why not? :)
You bought it and you have the right to do whatever you want~ <3
