    1. I don't care for hybrids because most that I have seen have looked strange to me. The resin is obviously off color or the head just looks odd on the body.

Maybe it's me but even back in the old days I didn't even like to switch bodies on my Barbies or Tonners because it often made their heads look different. So I guess it's not surprising that hybrids tend to bug me.

    2. For me, it depends. I'm very picky about proportions and resin matches. If I could find parts that go well together then I'd go for it. But only then. Actually, I'm currently in a situation like that. I have a doll head I like and want to put it on a male body, but I'm trying to find a good match for it. It's hard.

    3. Definitely a go for me :) It just makes for so many different options, especially if you love a head from one company and a body from another. I sometimes even use another companies hands for a doll if I would like a certain pose or gesture.

      Hybrids = combining forces! :-)

Edit: I just remembered how, a while back, I would be picky about the head looking like it's not made for the body, but now, with so many different models, sometimes you can find exact matches, it's amazing!

    4. I would rather have a doll that is purely one company since it will yellow consistantly and not into a couple different shades of yellow....

However, I have recently decided to change my BW DZ Recall into a hybrid from a full dollzone when I realized why he was not right. The character needs a smaller build and his dollzone body is just a little on the too manly side for the character.

I also have a collection of heads who, while I will keep most of them 'pure' dolls a couple will be gender changed or given a different company body then the head is.

    5. I don't care about if something is a hybrid, just makes them more special! Plus I will love the doll either way!

    6. I have one and I adore her, I got her second hand and the seller described her to the tee and I even bought another faceplate to attempt on a sister for her in the future.

See her as my avatar, isn't she pretty?

** I've examined her in natural daylight, indoors/outdoors and I really can't tell the color difference, maybe due to the face up? But I feel it's a good match (Unoa face/Lati blue bod).

    7. I own half a hybrid! I bought a Sabik head but I don't want a mecha angel body, they are too tall and thin for what I want, so he's getting a shorter body. I don't see a problem with swapping parts to get exactly what you want.

    8. I haven't mixed any yet, but I think it's really awesome to get a body because of the body/height customization for that special chara ♥

    9. So long as they match in colour and size I don't see a problem with it. Hybrids can give you more opportunities and make your dolls look exactly like you envisioned, it must be a great feeling to find the perfect match :)

    10. I say 'go for it' :3
As long as people keep proportions and resin match in mind, things will work out fine.

    11. I buy from a lot of different companies that only sell heads, so having hybrid dolls in my collection is virtually unavoidable.

But I think it's great that BJDs are able to swap bodies! For me, it's fine so long as the resin match is good and the proportions are acceptable. I don't see why there would be anything wrong with it; in fact sometimes I think hybrid dolls look even better than their company counterparts! :)

    12. Some of my tinies are hybrid bec. I like the face but dont like the body so i buy face from one company and buy the body of another company. Difference in resin color is ok to me I just thought of it as tan line like every human has one :)

    13. I feel like as long as the person that buys the doll is happy with it, then more power to them!

As for me, I would only "make" a hybrid if all the pieces matched. I think it would drive me crazy if the body and the head were different colors. lol

    14. I'm the caretaker of 4 hybrids, one because the right body wasn't avalible at the time from the maker, and the other to get the right head sculpt. Both have heads from the same place A and bodies from place B. The other two were swapped out to more articulated bodies.

As for the money issue I'm totally for an expsensive head on a "cheaper" body, I'd rather have a big affordable family.

    15. I also make hybrids. I've had some really bad bodies, that could just not pose well and even looked strange in relaxed position. Then I tried to buy a body from Fantasy doll. they're not all that pretty, but boy are they wonderful to pose! So these days, when I can get a lose head of a doll i really want, i buy the head and then buy a body from Fantasy doll. It's only if I can't purchase a lose head, i'll buy a total original.

    16. I currently am waiting for a Soom Super Gem body to go with my Leeke L head. This is because the regular Leeke L bodies just don't go with the Leeke L heads imho! I think that having different heads for different bodies is find, and all part of the great customising hobby we are part of :D

    17. no hybrids at the moment. i used to have one. i felt bad about my floating head being a floating head for a year, so i got him a cheap body i could get right then. i traded though for the company body which he has now.

though another head will be here soon too. and he's gonna need a body. and i thinking he's gonna be a hybrid since i want him shorter than my other boy. and they are the exact same head.

    18. I vote 'Other' because I'm kinda indifferent, kinda for 'em; I'd prefer the bodies with the heads from the company or resin matched as closely as possible, but I'm super super finicky about double knee and elbow joints and non-jointed torsos, so if I ran into a head with a body I don't like, then I'd find a body I did like that matched the resin as closely as possible and, boom, hybrid.

      Just my two cents:)

    19. Personally, I'd prefer a doll which had a head and body from the same company, but then again, I've seen some beautiful photographs of hybrid dolls, so if they're put together by an experienced doll owner I'd say they're just fine by me.

If I was going own a doll which was a hybrid though, the resin would really have to be a close match as I'm really a perfectionist when it comes to certain aspects about dolls.

    20. I think they're a great way to expand the horizons for dolls.
However, I only think it should be done by someone who has done research.
If a hybrid's resin-match is off, I don't tend to like them. And the the head to body proportions are not right, I also find them strange.
But, if you find a body that suits a character better, and it'll match the head that's been selected, I think they're awesome! It makes the doll even more one-of-a-kind!
