1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Finding BJDs in the strangest places

Nov 29, 2007

    1. I don't know. She just came to class and gave me the card sticker. And I don't even know what doll is on it. LOL.

Though I've seen those card stickers for sale around.

    2. i live in this tiny city near amsterdam in the netherlands:c
i know there is someone in amsterdam who has a Dz hid and i know there's a dutch doll forum but besides that i never saw anyone with a bjd...(i have seen a lot of pullips and blythes in the weirdest placesxD)

    3. I was talking to a girl who is going to same school next year as me.
And then she suddenly said; I love those dolls you have! I bought a Littlefee Ante, can't wait till she arrives!
I was like; 0__0 what the....
But I forgot I had pictures of my BJD on my profile X"D.
So that's pretty awesome, we can meet with our dolls at school then!

    4. I guess the weird-est place I've seen bjd would be at a club. We were all in leather, corsets etc. because it was a fetish event, and someone walked past us with a bjd. I elbowed my friend so hard she had to punch me in revenge :P. I wasn't sure which mold it was since it was pretty dark in the club and I never saw the girl again. I was also pretty drunk. haha... @_@

    5. Hmm...just thought of one.

After I got my very first doll, I thought finding dolls at arcades were...er...rather surprising. I need to re-evaluate that now as I sometimes carry my dolls into the arcade too when I feel like playing some games... =X

Eh...the pub I guess...? For now...

There was this JRock event of sorts that I went and there were a few girls carrying their dolls around...I was carrying my bass for a performance...:sweat

    6. I was waiting between two trains once and suddenly saw two girls dressed as some bjds here so i contacted them to see if they were bjd girls and sure they were. they were actually carrying their dolls in the bags they had with them.

    7. Are virtual bjds included?

Not sure if anyone had mentioned it, but at a Sims 2 site, modthesims2.com, there are lots of skintones with joints on them so your Sims can be made up as dolls ^_^

And I also saw outfits there like Petsha's, I-ra's and Elf Ducan's. I downloaded them of course hehe.

    8. my friend thinks a book or story by william gibson has a faceup artist in it. some guy who paints "mannikins" he said...
but he can't remember which book, and so i haven't read it.

does this sound familiar to anyone?

edit: found the book. they're Gundam figures. different fandom XD

    9. HA! I just searched through 12 pages in the General discussion forum to find this tread XD

Anyways I found this at the "Yankee Dollar" dollar store today!!!:

They are little erasers that look like lipstick, they came 3 in a pack. Can anyone recognize these dolls??

    10. I have a bit off an odd one. When it first came out at work that I was getting a doll, one of my coworkers knew about them. One of the ones I would never think of ever knowing about BJDs. Apparently one of her high school friends had a bunch of Blythe dolls o_o.

Also, the other day my friend saw someone literally right behind my house in the park with a BJD. I got the text late though so when I ran out to find this girl, she was gone :(. Apparently she had an SD though and since the park isn't anything spectacular, I'm thinking she must live in the area :D.

I haven't found her yet or seen her again :(.

    11. I've sort of had the opposite experience, actually. I live in Portland, OR, and there is a very large community for BJDs here... But I never see them around! Not unless I am at a con. I take mine places sometimes (NERD. ALERT.) so I always thought maybe other people would. I have even seem girls in Lolita outfits but no dolls! WHERE IS EVERYONE!?

    12. That first one is Volks F-01 (four sisters). I don't recognize the other ones.

ETA: Actually, the other one kinda looks like her, too. Maybe it's be same mold but the pic just looks distorted?

    13. Oddly enough, I've run into dolly people in a lot of places. ^_^; There are cons obviously...but I also see people with them at the local Joann's; people behind the cutting counters will start babbling about their own dolls, and a woman who happened to be sitting at a pattern table at the same time as me ran a doll group. A girl in my anime club is also a BJD collector. I've even met someone in a bathroom at Microsoft. @_@ I think that last one was probably my strangest, actually...

    14. When I move to Portland (in about a year) I'll make sure to take mine about with me, so you wont be the only one.

I haven't really seen bjd in odd places, but I have seen a lot more doll-related sculptural art lately when I go to shows.

    15. Closest experience I've had was one time at school during the Career Prep unit in gym we were at the computers, and after I finished I was looking at a Luts doll I was lusting after when a friend of mine came over and was like "HOLY CRAP, I love Luts dolls!" and proceeded to chat with me about our fave dolls. =3 It was really unexpected 'cause she's like like...really tough chick who you wouldn't think would love girl doll men. xD

    16. That would be excellent. I will keep an eye out and take mine out more as well!

    17. I never saw any bjds in non bjd related places, but I did find some accessories that can be used by bjds in places I didn't expect. For example, I bought a 1/3 bjd's sofa in a mirror store, and mini instruments in an instrument shop

    18. yes, two of the main pictures are the same doll

    19. if virtual ones count I was rather surprised to see them feature in Ar Tonelico II (RPG on the PS2) last night

warning sort of spoiler (but not plot related):

it was in Jaqulis Cosmosphere, she was dressed as a maid and was running a cafe and selling Ball Jointed Dolls and figures, you can see random parts in the background like a head and a torso etc, she even goes on to explain about picking the one you like the look of best and holding one before you buy so you get a feel for the texture and weight

    20. I blame those skins for tipping me from "yeah, that's a pretty doll" to "MUST HAVE ONE."

The weirdest place I've ever seen a doll? The Transformers yaoi community. There was a photostory and in the background what turned out to be an AoD...
